We found this place on the internet, it had only positive references and we are happy to add one more.
The description of the condo was correct - it is "optimally" located: short drive from the city and the airport, with nice view on the sea from the hill. The hosts are very friendly and reasonable people, ready to help in all aspects - information on local circumstances (shopping, travel etc., even in renting cars). No problem with communication: she is an American lady, he is a Greek engineer that worked 20+ years in the US). The condo has everything for visitors - fully equipped, generously supplied kitchen, always available parking near the house, etc.
We had a lovely time at Pamela and Emmanuel's home. Both of them made us so welcome, sharing their local knowledge and great stories as well as providing us with extra comforts ranging from olive oil soap and guidebooks to Meze salad, wine, raki and groceries. We were spoilt! As non-drivers Emmanuel was always there with the offer of a ride to the bus-stop or city if we needed it - but of course they were happy for us to do our own thing (we had friends in other parts of the island). View from the balcony was beautiful. Prassas was very quiet (and with some quite excitable dogs I have to say) so you do need a car or to be willing to take the bus out to other places. Pamela and Emmanuel were very authentic interesting people that make the airbnb experience so rewarding vs a hotel. We're sad to be back in Berlin ;)
We voelden ons bijzonder welkom.
My wife and I had a wonderful experience; we felt far more like friends than customers. Pamela and Emmanuel not only checked with us regularly about destinations in order to offer driving directions and other help but checked with us afterward to see how things had gone. They went far beyond what we could have expected from a host, not only chatting with us just to be friendly and make us feel welcome, but also facilitating experiences that we would otherwise have missed. They took us to Cretan night at another village, allowing us to enjoy traditional music, dancing, and an excellent dinner, and Pamela showed us the nearby open-air market. When the AC in our hire car failed, Emmanuel called the car company to arrange a replacement vehicle, even though they had no part in our arrangements with that company.
The neighbourhood is comfortable, and the house exactly as it is depicted in the listing. It lives well because of its sensible design; you will not feel crowded.
In sum, we recommend this property unequivocally; the welcome platter alone foreshadows how gratifying your experience here will be.
Pamela and Emmanuel are so genuinely sweet and helpful. They have built a beautiful home. Our stay with them was extremely comfortable and enjoyable. We loved having breakfast out on the lovely terrace with the view of the sea. Plenty of books to read, games to play, and Pamela was so gracious in stocking the kitchen up with all the essentials, and more!
My only call out would be that if you plan on doing a lot of sight seeing, it would be better to rent a car (or a scooter, like we did!).
Emmanuel was very kind and took us shopping as soon as we got there. And I have to mention the salad that Pamela had prepared for us when we landed!! Delicious!! I spent the rest of the week doing to replicate it.
They also treated us to some home made food and gave us a glimpse of the local farmers market.
All in all, a great experience staying with this great family :)
Don't forget to check out the beach that you can see from the house. It is lovely!
Our month in Iraklion was very relaxing and full of surprises. There is so much to do in and around the city! The access to downtown is very easy by car and parking is cheap and always available ( in the fall, that is).
The appartment is bright and the view exceptional.
Pam and Emmanuel are very ressourceful. When in need of a dentist for Daniel, Emmanuel knew a good one (he knows half the town!) and even accompanied him. Whatever you need, just ask and they will both go out of their way to help. They also know the island extremely well and will help you organize your visit so that you miss as little as possible.
It couln't be a better first experience with AirBnb. We will definitely do it again!
