Centrally located on the island is a fully equipped deluxe apartment house , has excellent Wi-Fi throughout and a gorgeous view of olive groves , the Mediterranean Sea and Dia Island ! A very nice neighborhood with lots of parking if you wish to rent a car ( we can arrange that for you too ) , By car or bus , it's minutes to the city center of Heraklion , and free airport or boat transfers when you arrive and depart . I am an American who has lived on the island for over 15 years now . It would be my pleasure to assist you with all your excursions and help you experience the real Crete , with all of her ancient mysteries and natural beauty . In the summer ( about 6 months long ) of course we have the pristine beaches everywhere you look , fall and winter we have the making of wine , raki ( or moonshine ) and the harvesting for olive oil through out the villages . There is a fantastic winery nearby to visit and tour called Boutari Winery that is just 4 kilometers from the house . There you will be able to taste , experience and buy some of our local wines to take back home with you too ! There is also a beautiful canyon called the Karteros Canyon just down the hill from the house where you can take wonderful hikes and explore all it's nature .
We are also just minutes from the ancient Minoan Palace of Knossos which is definitely a must see ! There are over 6,000 villages , 3000 caves and more than 350 beaches to explore on the island and all unique in their own special way . You will never forget Crete ♥
Pamela and Emmanuel are wonderful hosts! We'd like to thank them for their hospitality. Now they are like a family for us. The house is cosy and beautiful. We really enjoyed Crete and spent a great time there! Hope to come to Pamela agian.
Our month in Iraklion was very relaxing and full of surprises. There is so much to do in and around the city! The access to downtown is very easy by car and parking is cheap and always available ( in the fall, that is).
The appartment is bright and the view exceptional.
Pam and Emmanuel are very ressourceful. When in need of a dentist for Daniel, Emmanuel knew a good one (he knows half the town!) and even accompanied him. Whatever you need, just ask and they will both go out of their way to help. They also know the island extremely well and will help you organize your visit so that you miss as little as possible.
It couln't be a better first experience with AirBnb. We will definitely do it again!
We had a wonderful time with Pam and Emmanuel. Apart from the very convenient airport pick up and drop off, Emmanuel took us shopping as soon as we arrived to stock up on a week's food for the apartment. The apartment is great - spacious, light and airy, with a great view from the balcony across the valley to the sea. Hosts are really friendly and generous. Would certainly recommend a stay with them.
Pamela and Emanuel are remarkable people. It is reflected in the passion they share in providing their guests the 'Crete experience.' We were welcomed with Greek snacks and the traditional Raki toast to begin our stay. The cottage was everything and more from what you see in their photos. Very clean and well organized. You get the sense of an amazing amount of space from the brightness and open design. The kitchen was also very well provisioned.
As hosts they have many suggestion for activities and we accompanied them on a number of outings. I feel we gained an understanding of Crete and Greek life from them that we would never have achieved without their guidance.
For us it was a privilege to have had the opportunity to be guests of Pamela and Emanuel. It was the highlight of our three weeks in Crete.
This a great place to stay from which you can explore Crete. The apartment is well equipped and has all you should need for you stay. It is located minutes to the City of Heraklion , Local Beaches and the Airport by Car. Pamela and Emmanuel are fantastic hosts and they are very warm and welcoming. They can advise you on the best places to visit depending on your interests. We very much enjoyed the visit to the village of Avdou where they have a beautiful old house which they have lovingly renovated. We also enjoyed an evening in the village of Mahos, which they recommended, where you enjoy Cretan dancing and music in the main square while you sit at one of the many Tavernas and eat some beautiful local food. There are lots of things to see and do in Crete and Heraklion itself is a very pleasant city with museums, shops, bars, cafes, restaurants etc . Overall if you choose this apartment you can’t go wrong.
Pamela and Emmanuel are wonderful hosts, and this vacation home was a dream!
The property sits in a small, non-touristy, village, but is very close to beaches, supermarkets, restaurants, shopping, etc. The home itself is lovely, well-equipped, and has a view like none other. We utilized the balcony every morning to enjoy breakfasts by the sea. It is exactly as the photographs depict! You will not be disappointed.
Pamela and Emmanuel went so far above and beyond our expectations as hosts. We left feeling as though we were family, not strangers. Emmanuel met us at the airport and helped us make our way back to the property. Upon our arrival, there were many treats awaiting us including wine, olive oil, pastries, feta, olives, tomatoes, eggs, milk, bread, and fresh fruit. Both Pamela and Emmanuel helped us plan our stay, recommending their favorite beaches and restaurants. Because of them, we were able to explore much of Crete and experience many beautiful sites. They were always available if we had any questions, and we never were in need of anything. We were fortunate enough to share in some of our hosts' homegrown fruit including figs, prickly pear, pomegranate, and grapes.
We really enjoyed getting to know this special couple, and we would definitely recommend these hosts and their beautiful property!
Our holiday at Pamela's and Emmanuel's place was wonderful and very special. The flat is tastefully furnished with everything you could wish for and does have a lovely view as well as a nice court, where we loved to have our meals. Everything was as described, and my hopes for this holiday were more than fulfilled.
The place is an ideal starting point for excursions all around the island and Pamela and Emmanuel were extremely helpful with choosing the nicest places and giving us directions. They gave us a very warm welcome and even took the trouble to show us around on our first days and made local phone calls to the car rental or the pizza delivery for us.
If you want a quiet holiday a little away from the touristy spots but still close to the beach and the city, it is ideal - we loved it!
Pamela and Emmanuel were the most wonderful hosts. They looked after us incredibly well, and we didn't want for anything the entire time. They helped us out with bike hire, itinerary suggestions, airport transfers, and even treated us to their 7 year old wine! Their place is gorgeous and has been our favourite spot so far, out of everywhere we've stayed in Greece. Crete is also the most amazing place, and we'd recommend it to anyone. We will definitely be back to stay!
Pamela is an exceptional hostess, and made our trip to Crete very special. The 1 bedroom apartment was very clean, and it was furnished to meet our every need. The views from the balcony were serene, and the whole experience of staying there was awesome. I would definitely recommend it.
This is a great house. It's exactly as shown in the photos. A spacious and bright home with a lovely and ever changing view of the sea and nearby Dia Island. The house is very clean and has everything you could need for your stay. It's located in a (very) small village with only a tiny store and church within walking distance. Heraklion is a short bus ride, but if you plan to explore the island or go into the city a lot, I suggest taking Pamela up on her offer to arrange a rental car. It will be very useful. Pamela and Emmanuel are warm and friendly. They go out of their way to anticipate what their guests might need and make sure you have it. And just about the time you might forget how wonderful they are, they show up at your door with fresh baked bread or homemade lentil soup. It was a joy to get to know them and see the island through their eyes.
