My listing: Here you find convenience, comfort and security. 1908 adobe. About 500 square feet depending how you measure it, Off W. San Francisco Street on a private driveway. Half of a duplex, with one person living on the other side who also uses the porches and back yard, and has two friendly dogs. About seven-tenths of a mile to the downtown Plaza. Flat screen satellite television. Wifi. Gas baseboard heat. We sometimes feed a stray cat in the front. Wonderful and famous restaurants and shopping within walking distance, including Starbucks! Easy access north and south and less than a block to the DeVargas Mall, which has two grocery stores, restaurants, movies, thrift store, fast food, chain stores, etc..
The house is off W. San Francisco Street 100 feet down a driveway where your parking to the right is not visible from the street. It is in a charming, historic neighborhood close to public transportation. Long-term bargain pricing available. Combination living/bedroom with separate eat-in kitchen and new stackable washer/dryer. Pleasant ambience with wood and tile floors and "Santa Fe" touches, such as a Mexican tile bath, nichos and local artwork. Queen bed, plus fold-out couch could accomodate two more! Yes, it CAN fit four, but you must decide if that space would be too crowded for you. There are extra bed linens and a bed pad.
This unit is PET FRIENDLY provided you are aware that you are taking the risk that there are already dogs there in the other unit, who also use the back door; that your cat must remain inside and your dogs must always be on a leash coming and going. Please, no smokers!
Enjoy hiking, skiing, the opera, and shopping, dozens of galleries and museums within walking distance. This historic house was remodeled in the 90s and has been upgraded since. There are many tour books, maps, guides, and local magazines as well as suggestions in the Welcome Guide in the house.
The mountain views are taken from our wonderful nearby dog park (1 mi. from the apartment, 38 acres). In the one with St. Francis Cathedral the apartment would be located in the trees in the middle. The tree is the dog park Christmas tree with one of my rescue dogs, China. On your map it's called the "Frank Ortiz" park. The mountains show our ski basin.
There are shared front and back porches and the fenced backyard. If you have a dog, please coordinate backyard time with the other tenant. Don't forget our wonderful dog park, one mile away!
Interaction with Guests
I usually stop by to meet the guests, but may miss you with the wrong timing. I am available by email and phone (not text) if you need anything.
This is an historic neighborhood with many interesting old adobe buildings, as well as new ones. The 7/10 of a mile walk to the Plaza is great for an introduction to the neighborhood residences, businesses and tourist attractions.
The bus stops nearby on Paseo de Peralta.
Other Things to Note
When you book, I will send you an information sheet. There is a book in the house with maps, restaurant, store and attraction recommendations.
The street view below is such a wide angle, it is deceiving! But the house is down the dirt driveway you see, about 100 feet.
Please keep noise down enough to be considerate of the other tenant and people in the vicinity. If you want to bring animals, you must be responsible for anything that happens to them or that they do to other animals or people. If you have any concerns or complaints, please call me!

I'm from Italy and this is my first time in Santa Fe. I liked Janet's apartment very (website hidden) has everything you need and is orderly and clean. You can walk everywhere, to the Plaza, Galeries, food market, restaurants, shops. It's close to the shuttle, bus and trains stops. The neighbourhood is very quiet and it's fantastic for me that is near the river, where every morning I ran to the east or the west. Upon my arrival I found delicious chocolate cookies on the kitchen table and water in the refrigerator. Janet is a very special person, is helpful and gives you lots information of what to do and see. In particular, with me, I know a little English and she came to converse with me every day. I stayed 19 days, but I would have liked to stay longer. If I can come back to Santa Fe, I'll go to Janet's apartment, the sooner the better. I could not find a better place.
Thanks for everything, Janet
She worked with me the entire way, I had a moving van that was towing my car, so I was very slow and got in very late on the first night. She gave me suggestions on where to park my moving van, was very helpful with getting around and getting there. The house is even cuter than what is described. It was adorable! She was extremely accomadating for my cat (even asked if I need a litter box and cat litter, and left a toy for him to play with), which was wonderful. Herb next door was absolutely wonderful as well! I had a fantastic time! I'm sending my mum here for a week and I will be staying here every time I come to Santa Fe! In a great location too, you can walk to everything downtown.
Perfect place to stay in Santa Fe. Great location! Janet was wonderful about getting and staying in touch with us during our stay of one week. She left cookies and a welcome note for us, called to see how we were doing, and was very responsive to anything we asked of her. In the apartment, there's lots of information and brochures of what to see and do in the area. We highly recommend the yellow book of "Day Hikes in the Santa Fe Area." The fully equipped kitchen was appreciated because we cooked every day. Parking for our rented minivan was roomy. Walking to old Plaza and beyond was easy and convenient. Grocery stores, pharmacy, restaurants and more are nearby, too! The bed was comfortable and we slept well. There is a DVD player, (need to easily change hookups in back of TV), but bring your own DVDs. It was quiet! You're somewhat near busy roads (you can't see them), but the adobe style of the house and good windows provide peace and quiet! San Francisco Street itself is very quiet and residential.
Janet's place was exactly as described. It was very charming and super convenient to downtown–less than half a mile and a straight shot on San Francisco. She left bottled water in the fridge, a fresh package of coffee and a container of Trader Joe's cookies for us. After the first night she stopped by to see how we were settling in and if we needed anything. If we return to Santa Fe, we'll definitely try to stay here again!
Good location and a nice fenced in area; studio style room with separate kitchen and bathroom that was clean and had everything we needed
This place is great- very close to downtown and comfortable enough to sleep up to two couples.
Janet was great and even came in to check on us!
