We loved the High Street cottage! Every detail is attended to with care, comfort and creativity. Artful touches are present both inside and out. We loved the exterior - the deck, garden and Koi pond. The cottage is small, but perfectly comfortable for 2 couples or a family with older children. The only potentially awkward moment could arise from the shared bathroom, but Mark and Elizabeth have been thoughtful about that too. The location is excellent - a short walk through a cute neighborhood to the "downtown" area of Ashland where there are many shops, restaurants and the Shakespeare festival. Elizabeth was present to greet us even though we arrived a bit later than anticipated. I will recommend the cottage to friends and would love to stay there next time I'm ion Ashland.
We were pleasantly surprised that this cottage seemed larger and was extremely well appointed with the comforts of home. We enjoyed spending time relaxing in the back yard and were able to walk to and from town to restaurants and theaters. Both Mark and Elizabeth made us and our children feel welcomed and gave us suggestions for activities in the area. We look forward to returning to this adorable cottage!
What a delightful, comfortable place to stay! The cottage and the grounds are simply beautiful; a clean, artistic home with three comfortable beds for three female friends in town for the Shakespearean festival. Mark and Elizabeth were on site and available to chat and make us feel welcome. There was coffee, fruit, chocolate and every possible comfort in the house. Many, many thoughtful touches: magazines, recycle bins, robes and slippers, a picnic basket with utensils, a map of Ashland, comfortable furniture, original artwork and pottery made by the owners... I could go on and on. The outside area is totally available for guests to lounge, making this home so much better than staying in a hotel, even a luxury hotel! I highly recommend Mark and Elizabeth's cottages. Would love to go back next visit.
We've stayed at 4 different locations in Ashland and this is by far the best. We very much appreciate Mark and Elizabeth's attention to detail, and look forward to staying here again next year!
We loved our stay at the cottage. The beautiful decorations were fun & quirky too. The house was pristine & Mark & Elizabeth were very welcoming. We'll definitely come again!
Mark and Elizabeth are doing it right- they have such a wonderful space, and did a fantastic job with the cottage. It's so perfect that you never want to leave. Main Street with shops and restaurants is super close and convenient and a quick walk away. We happened to stay in the house most of our trip, and couldn't be happier with what it had to offer. Would love to come back again and take advantage of the rad outdoor kitchen!

Mark and Elizabeth Schoenleber are artists (sculpture, pottery, drawing and painting) Mark has been teaching art at Ashland High School since 1983 and Elizabeth has been creating beautiful hand thrown stoneware pottery since 1988. After the favorable response from guests in our Terra Cottage Inn we decided to create a traveler's accommodation from our home of twenty years (2007). The High Street Cottage is a lovingly refurbished 1931 cottage that is tastefully decorated with just enough modern touches to make your stay comfortable and memorable. beyond the 'park and walk to everything' location... the High Street Cottage sits on a great piece of property. Koi pond, Gardens (flowers, herbs, salad and vegetables), decks and patios to relax and enjoy your stay a great laundry facility and a full outdoor kitchen. At the center of the property are our art studios and too many great amenities to list.
