Wonderful base for exploring the Big Island, located on Alii Drive, just south of Kailua-Kona and minutes from theaters, shopping and fine dining. Our deck overlooks the tropical garden pool, waterfall and fountain, and also has a view of the ocean.
One bedroom condo with tile floors, fans and air conditioning, well-appointed kitchen with brand new microwave and refrigerator, cable TV, wi-fi, ironing facilities, king bed in the bedroom, and a queen sleeper couch in the living-room. The complex has 2 pools and is equipped with a laundry, elevator and free parking. The saltwater pool overlooking the ocean is large and deep, great for work-out swims and whale watching. Create a lovely airflow by opening the lanai door and front door and latching the screen door. Tea and coffee provided.
This is a self-catering condo and you will have access to all the public areas of the complex. You will receive instructions on check-in shortly before your arrival date. Check-in time is 5pm, please don't arrive early, as the cleaner may still be here. Please be sure to sign in at the front desk when you arrive and check with the manager between 7am and 10am for a parking permit.
Interaction with Guests
We may or may not be on the island during your stay. We hope you enjoy your visit and we thank you for leaving everything as you found it, for the next guests :)
We use our condo as a base for exploring the Big Island. Check out the snorkeling beach 2 miles south, the best white sand beaches north of Kona and the black sand beaches on the East side of the island. We can give you instructions on where to swim with turtles and manta rays. After a trip to view the volcano or hike through the jungle on the windward side of the island, this is a wonderful place to return to, barbecue and relax by the ocean in the balmy Kona evening air.
Best to rent a car at the airport to get to our condo and to explore the island. There is a shuttle that runs along Alii Drive to and from Kailua-Kona. It's about a 20 minute walk, pleasant in the early morning or evening, hot during the day, but with plenty of shady oceanfront rest areas. There's good parking behind Coconut Village Shopping Center.

We only stayed a short time (2 nights) but we enjoyed the very spacious, comfortable condo. We swam in both pools and enjoyed the sunset each night. Jane and Tom were very responsive to email. The little store in the plaza roadside was convenient for snacks and drinks. The location was perfect for our last two days in Hawaii.
Wonderful apartment. Exactly as described and viewed in photos. Really enjoyed our stay. Although we never met Tom & Jane they were available to contact whenever we had any questions.
Whilst public transport is around I would recommend a car to get around and explore all big island has to offer!
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The condo was in a great location and a good base to have when exploring the island. We were in every corner of it. We especially liked the lanai for the following: the ocean view, the sound of the fountain and view of the pool, drinking Kona coffee (of course), having a meal or a cocktail on it. We also liked to have a cocktail in the common area (tables and grills) in the evening to listen to the wave action. When we were back in time for sunset, we headed down to the front wall, along with many others, and took pictures. We were also lucky enough to see humpback whales out front one morning.
The bed was comfortable, the wifi worked well and Jane or Tom got back to us when needed. Although it looked like a nice flatscreen tv, we never turned it on. We were either gone, on the lanai, out front or asleep. The only downside was having to leave for MN and the expected snow upon our return.
Thanks Tom and Jane for sharing your condo!
Nice cozy quiet condo unit. Worked perfectly for us.
Best for couples due to condominium ambiance, likely other condo patrons and demographics. This unit is on second floor with elevator, but has two steps to get to it, so if have any issues with a couple stairs, good to be aware of. Good location between Kona and south Kona beaches and snorkeling, but a little too far to walk to either. Short drive instead.
The condo was easy to get into and the hosts were easy to contact. It was roomy for two people and there were geckos and birds that came to the lanai.
The location is Amazing and the condo was very nice. The complex had two pools with one on the ocean! The location is within walking distance of Kona 'downtown' but a rental car got us everywhere we wanted to go. We stayed on three islands and this was by far our favorite location and accommodation. Thank you
We could not have found a nicer place in Kailua Kona. Tom and Jane have a place that is comfortable (even the bed gets 5 stars in this category), clean, safe, convenient to just about everything you would want to do in the area, and it's nice and quiet when you want to sleep. Jane replied promptly to all of my email questions and was extremely helpful for advice on cool things to do and places to go. How could anyone want to stay at a hotel when you could stay in Tom and Jane's condo? It's like staying at your favorite Aunt's place. I highly recommend staying here if you get the chance.

Tom is from the Seattle area, worked at Boeing, was in ski patrol and taught kayaking. He has lived on yachts for 19 years and now focuses most of his time creating beautiful artwork and maintaining our floating home, a 55' Grand Banks Alaskan pilothouse trawler.
Originally from England, Jane was a sailor and professional musician for many years, has traveled extensively, and lived in southern Europe, the Caribbean, Alaska and Hawaii before settling in Seattle 22 years ago.
Hosting airbnb guests is really interesting and fun. It gives us a chance to meet people from all over the world, and allows us to maintain homes in Hawaii and the Pacific Northwest now that we're retired.
