Centrally located and fully furnished with antique oak and maple furniture, this studio is a perfect place to stay when visiting the Yale campus, Downtown, East Rock or Wooster Square. Studio has a back yard and is located right next to campus.
The space is located very close to the heart of campus -- essentially on campus -- and right next door to the best restaurant in town, Caseus Fromagerie. I've also worked hard to furnish the apartment with nice wood furniture, desk and book cases.
Guests have access to the whole apartment which includes a private back yard with overhanging pine trees and dogwoods. There is a full bed as well as a full inflatable airbed should you need space for more than two people. There is $1 washer and $1 dryer in the building. The apartment has a small kitchen, a typewriter, oak table and writing desk, and books which you are welcome to read. The bathroom is white tile and looks out onto the back yard. The apartment has Wifi internet.
Interaction with Guests
I am usually away when the studio is rented, however guests have my best friend who lives in New Haven to call for whatever questions or issues they would like addressed.
The apartment is in the most lovely and safe part of New Haven the -- campus/downtown area of East Rock.
There are Yale and New Haven City bus stops just around the corner. But because this studio is very much centrally located chances are that you will probably be able to walk everywhere you want to go.
Please try to leave the studio clean.
Allen's place is really cozy, and I regret not being able to spend more time there while I was in New Haven. I made my reservation at the last minute and had some issues traveling, and Allen was extremely responsive and helpful the whole way through, and even checked in with me after I had arrived. Excellent host, excellent stay!
We spent two nights in the ‘Scholar’s Studio’ and we can’t imagine a better location for a visit to the Yale campus. It’s all at your doorstep! When considering this studio, keep in mind that it is actually someone’s home, and typical of a single male grad student’s living space. If your expectations are constrained by that thought, it’s a fine choice for a short visit. Chris communicated well and was quite accommodating. Best for the young and flexible...
Perfect, cute and clean studio with lots of character! Fabulous building & location. Great communication with Allen, even though he was out of town and we did not get to meet. If I ever visit Yale again, I would be happy to stay there again!
Great place to stay!Easy to find,in the town centre, clean and cozy. The communication was smooth and I highly recommend this studio.
The location of the apartment is just perfect, especially for visiting the college. The apartment was clean, the washer and dryer in the building greatly appreciated; the apartment was low on some amenities though, like toilet paper, but it made sense since Allen wasn't in the area, so we didn't meet him in person but communicated through email. Great for short stays.
A great stay, everything was clean/organized and the bed is firm and comfortable. Great location for those unfamiliar with New Haven. 5-10 min walk to all Yale sites and you're also super close to the admissions office and Prospect St buildings
Awesome location! Was able to walk everywhere we needed to go to. Chris was awesome - although we did not get to meet in person, he made sure that he was available to contact with any questions if needed. The apartment is quiet, spacious and is clean. Parking is available a few blocks away, and you are surrounded by restaurants and a gourmet grocery market nearby. Checking in and out is a breeze as Chris makes sure you're well informed before you head over.
The only thing I would make this trip better: Having a microwave to heat up and hot water accessible in the kitchen. I stayed here for two weeks, so short stays shouldn't be affected by this at all. It's more of a nuisance than an actual problem itself though and there's definitely hot water in the bathroom and a stove with all the kitchen gadgets at your disposal so you just have to be resourceful. ;)
Would definitely stay here again! Thank you for making my trip to New Haven awesome!
