Guest Access

"Casa Foresti" is a 4-rooms, 120sq/m apartment with garden inside a 14th century building (renovated in 2009); it's located in the historic centre of Bettona, a lovely medieval village resting on top of a green hill coated in olive groves. Finely furnished and decorated, equipped with Wi-Fi, TV, hairdryer, dishwasher, washing machine, bed linen, towels and (we hope!) everything you might need to have in your own house, it's just the perfect place for your stay, offering you...

relax in the typical barrel-valuted living room;
fun while trying your cooking skills with real italian food in the lovely kitchen;
a beautiful dining room with wide windows overlooking the ancient etruscan walls
and a small terrace on the walls for an aperitivo while admiring the sunset on the hills.

Our comfortable holiday house, with room for up to 5 people (two communicating bedrooms), is the ideal option for a pleasant stay in Umbria, ensuring you moments of rest and relax between visits to the precious historic and cultural jewels of which Umbria is rich, either in the well-known cities like Assisi and Perugia and the “minor” centres to discover.

Interaction with Guests

On top of this, we - the Foresti family - really enjoy to get to know a little our guests by offering something to make their stay unique.
If we have time and if you wish to, we'll be glad to show you around some hidden spots in the local area, have you over for dinner or take you to a local winery, cheesemaker, restaurant or cultural event - obviously free of charge! My son Francesco speaks very good English and my wife Anna is available if you'd like to get some Italian cooking lessons. We'll do our best to make you feel really at home - of course without being invasive - so feel free to ask us about interesting destinations nearby, as well as restaurants or other local attractions! We live just upstairs of the apartment...

We'll be glad to help you get the best this region has to offer. Giorgio, Anna, Francesco and Lucilla Foresti are pleased to welcome you in their home for a pleasant stay in Bettona!

The Neighborhood

Bettona, is a beautiful small village of 300 people of Etruscan (4th century BC) and medieval origin, set on a hill overlooking Perugia and Assisi. Although tiny, in town you will find three restaurants, two bars, a small grocery shop with homemade food, a deli shop, a city museum, an international library, a multi-sport complex and, quite often, some social events where people gather to eat all together.

Bettona is quite close to every interesting destination in Umbria:
it is just 16 km far from Assisi, home of St. Francis and UNESCO Heritage Site;
5 km from Torgiano, renown worldwide for its precious wines;
10 km from Deruta, famous for its ceramics;
17 km from Bevagna, the town that turns medieval for the whole month of June;
20 km from Perugia, largest city in the region, seat of a large University for foreigners and with a young nightlife in its historic center;
22 km from Spello, 24 km from Montefalco, 26 km from Foligno, 33 km from Todi, 55 from Spoleto, each one a different medieval pearl to explore;
and 45 km from the shores of Trasimeno Lake and its wonderful tiny islands.

In one hour of travel by car it’s possible to reach every destination in Umbria. If you're up for longer travels, Siena, Firenze and Roma are all within two hours.

Getting around

Public transportation isn't that great in Umbria, we recommend renting a car (either in Perugia airport, 15km away, or Perugia train station) to experience Umbria at its best.

Parking spots are always available not more than a minute away from the house. At the moment of booking we provide a map of Bettona with everything the village has to offer and a map of Umbria with our favourite landmarks.

Other Things to Note

Just to be sure you won't have surprises when you arrive in Casa Foresti: being an old medieval house, the plan is circular and the two bedrooms are communicating; that means that in order to reach the living room and the bathroom, guests staying in the second bedroom can either pass through the first bedroom or through the patio (few steps outside). See the last picture (house plan).

  • We are full of gratitude to Giorgio, Anna and Francesco for their hospitality and accommodation allowed us to not only enjoy the many surprises that not only Bettona has to offer but their location allowed us to discover Umbria. It was truly our home away from home.

  • The apartment had everything we needed to have a comfortable stay. We were two couples, and the apartment was big enough. The bedrooms are adjoining, but one of them can exit their room through the small outdoor patio area to enter the living room and use the bathroom, so it is possible to use the bathroom without passing through the other bedroom (might be annoying in the rain, but it was fine for us). The wifi was slow, but it did work. Bettona itself doesn't have much going on, but it is a good base to drive to Spello, Assissi, Gubbio and Perugia, all of which are lovely. You definitely need a car to get to and from Bettona. Francesco was very helpful, gave us good tips, and was a great host. We recommend going to di fillipo organic winery nearby, we really enjoyed that too.

  • Giorgio and Anna have done a remarkable job restoring this apartment. The brick ceiling, antique furniture, wood doors with beautiful glass panels work together to create an exceptional space. The place has a style that seems to belong in Bettona. Bettona is a quiet village, but has several fine restaurants, and is large enough to encourage short meandering in the evening. It is a good base from which to explore other hill towns in the area, but it is the hospitality of Anna and Giorgio that makes this place so very special. They made our stay in Umbria a true travel experience. We highly recommend staying here.

  • I simply cannot recommend this rental too highly. Giorgio & Anna & Francesco are consummate hosts & the apt. in their home is faultless. Spectacular views, spotlessly clean, a gem of a terrace with breakfast table overlooking a beautiful Umbrian valley, Wi-Fi, .. all in an, as yet ,unspoiled Umbrian village of 300 souls. I'm reluctant to review it because I would like to keep it as our own secret, but, in good conscience I have to 'fess up. It broke our hearts to leave after only one week. I'm already planning how I can carve enough out of the budget to go back. I' think living on macaroni & cheese dinners for 6 months should just about do it. It would be a small price to pay.

  • We have been welcome by Giorgio and Anna in their little paradise
    Stunning view from the place located in a wonderful village!
    Fresh bed sheet smelling the lavender, amazing vaults and thick walls keeping the place away from the outside heat
    You will find everything you need: air dryer washing machine air dishwasher, wifi, tv
    2 big bedrooms and a huge lounge, a big veranda for your dinner watching the sun set on the valley
    Just a dreamy place!!
    Thanks a lot Giorgio and Anna!!!

  • Our family of four (kids 15 and 12 years old) have enjoyed our stay in Casa Foresti in Bettone. The beautiful appartment is well equiped and all you might need is provided by the fantastic hosts. Good beds and very spacious appartment with wifi. The village Bettone is beautiful, you feel like living in an open air museum. We enjoyed a concert in the church, the winemuseum in Torgiano, playing tennis, we visited Foligno, Assisi and Perugia and the great Isola Polvese in the Trasimeno lake twice. Our last night we enjoyed a village fiesta with pizza and water melon together with our hosts, a lovely evening that especially the kids liked very much.

  • We had a lovely time staying in the small, charming town of Bettona. Giorgio very kindly offered to show us around the local area, and he was always available to answer our questions. The apartment is beautiful, spacious and clean, and quiet in the evening. It is a good base from which to explore the many towns in the area, or to stay at home and relax with a glass of local wine. We really enjoyed our stay and would recommend Casa Foresti to the Airbnb community.

  • The apt. was very spacious and comfortable with all the amenities of home. The hosts(Giorgio & Francesco) were there to answer questions and make our stay was enjoyable. Visited Assisi, Bevagna during their fair and frequented Il Porco, a gem of a small restaurant near the apt. The morning we left, the hostess was sweet enough to bring us a bowl of flowered water to wash our faces per their tradition to welcome the summer solstice. Thank You so much for your hospitality. Our family truly enjoyed our stay.

  • A wonderful old stone-walled home with plenty of room and all conveniences. If you are looking for a quiet, character-filled home to stay in, this is perfect., The town it is located in is small but wonderful - and the Foresti family are lovely hosts who will make you feel very welcome but also give you your space.

  • Our stay in Bettona was one of the highlights of our visit to Italy. Casa Foresti is lovely, and clearly a lot of thought has gone into planning for guests. Bettona is centrally located and a great place to stay when touring Umbria. Francesco and Giorgio met us on our arrival. They are both so friendly and eager to help with suggestions for visiting the area. While not at all intrusive, they were easily accessible as we needed them. On our last night, we enjoyed a meal with them at one of the local restaurants that serves typical Umbrian fare. It was fabulous! Our sincere thanks and appreciation to Francesco and Giorgio for a wonderful visit.

Hello, i'm Giorgio! After 33 years spent in Rome, where I studied and practiced law, I moved to Umbria to live in the countryside in a farming cooperative. After that, i managed a publishing house, a software house and a communication agency, while putting my heart and work in renewing the house in Bettona listed here on Airbnb. But I won't keep it all for me - I hope you'll come live it a little yourself! Hey, I'm Francesco, 27, love good music and I'm quite interested in everything. My dad has this flat for rent and I am managing it while working at a local hotel, and so far it's been great. I do speak good English and would love to have an aperitivo with you or show you around. I've been living in northern Italy for a while, then Berlin, and who knows where I'll be next... /// I am a lover of traveling as well, either in Italy, Europe or Asia; I enjoy human contact and me and my family (my wife Anna, my daughter Lucilla and my son Francesco) will be happy to guide our guests, if they wish, to discover the nature, history, art and enogastronomy of this beautiful region. Hope to see you here soon! A presto!
