This recently converted cottage is situated on the south side of Galway Bay (5 minutes walk to the sea), in a quiet rural setting. It is an ideal starting point for exploring Galway, the Burren and the Cliffs of Moher.
The house was an original thatched cottage with a stone shed which we've converted into a double housing unit. We live in the 'shed' part , and rent the cottage. It retains a number of original features including a stone chimney breast. It has two bedrooms, a well equipped kitchen, a small sitting room and a well filled book room. The bedroom upstairs has a double bed and a small ensuite bathroom. The second bedroom has a double and single bed. There's a divan bed in the large book room. The downstairs bathroom has a walk in shower.
There's wifi, a tv with most English and Irish stations, and a large garden.

When we're here we like meeting people and we're always ready to help with travel enquiries, maps and itineraries!
Walking, the sea is 5 minutes away, and there's a great view of the Burren across the bay on a clear day. In the winter time bird migrations arrive from the arctic circle. Walking away from the sea brings you to Drumacoo churchyard...an early monastic site with a 'holy well' and further along the ruins of Tyrone House, a Georgian mansion. There's a shellfish farm in our bay and you can buy oysters, mussels and clams from Kellys the fish farmers. Kinvara, a very pretty market town with its picturesque castle is 10 minutes away by car. there are plenty of pubs here, often with live music, and a good selection of restaurants.
There is no public transport, so a car is essential unfortunately.
This is our second time staying at Margaret's cottage and the experience was wonderful again. The place was perfect when we arrived. She was so sweet and had a huge bag of coffee for us :) She even borrowed some toys from her neighbor for our girls to play with. The location is wonderful for exploring western Ireland. I'm sure when we visit Ireland again, we will be staying here.
Magaret was a very good hoste, your house was very nice, comfortable , very beautiful garden!!!the perfect place!
If you want travel in Ireland, Magaret's home is very very good address,
Tahnk you for all Margaret!!!
We had a great time at the cottage. The location is perfect for exploring the Burren, going into Galway, or even venturing up to Connemara. The cottage is in a nice, quiet area with a couple of short, lovely walks right out the front door. It's incredibly comfortable with plenty of space for lounging, seats outside for enjoying the sun and a full kitchen that's well stocked with all the basics you need for holiday cooking. Margaret was as hospitable as all the reviews say she is, and she had a lot of ideas for things to do in the area (in addition to a selection of guides and maps). She was also respectful of our space and privacy. I hope it's not too long before we make it back again.
A very lovely experience! Margaret and Pascal are gracious hosts, so kind and giving. The accommodation is colorful, warm, cheerful, and roomy. We had very restful sleep. There are a variety of places to visit nearby, or not! Highly highly recommend.
What a amazing experience and a beautiful home. Our host made us feel at home. They provided us with fantastic directions, suggestions and a peice of Ireland that we would have never seen.
Margaret is a wonderful host, making me feel at home immediately upon arrival. The neighborhood is great and this house is accurately listed on Airbnb.
While I stayed at this location for a month, I found it an excellent hub for exploring Galway, The Burrens, which include The Cliffs of Moher, Burren Perfumery, Caves, Beaches, Coole Park, and Thoor Ballylee. (which is set to open in June this year) The Connamara area offers a beautiful National Park, many trails, hub to Aran Islands, Brigit's Garden, The Quiet Man Bridge, Kylemore Abbey and more. Locally, nearby Kinvara offers grocery stores, films, pubs, and a nice cafés. LOTS to do while at staying this location. Three minute walk to a pier which has the most beautiful sunsets. You can even join in on a yoga class Wednesday evening or Friday morning! Margaret will help you any questions, and give directions if needed. She has a nice collection of Ireland books and maps for any research you would like to do before heading out for the day.
We had such and wonderful time at Margret's comfortable cottage. Margret and her husband are very wellcoming hosts. The cottage is very cosy and has everyting you need and more. I am sure we will be back. There is still so much to see and do in the neighbourhood.
