Interaction with Guests
Your host, Michel, is a veritable fountain of knowledge of the city: the trendiest restaurants, the most romantic venues, the best excursions , guided tours, reservations for spas(we are opening our own adjacent to the riad late December 2015)
The riad is located in the oldest quarter of the Medina(historic city center), the neighborhood of the Great Foundouks: caravenserails or inns used by travellers on the Silk Roads of Africa in centuries past. Great auberges with immense courtyards and columned porticoes. The riad is just next to the Medersa Ben Youssef(a must to visit; in all the guidebooks) and the Museum of Marrakesh.
Smack in the heart of the historic city center, Dar Zelda is in walkable distance to all the monuments, gardens, restaurants, souks; short walk to the Place Djemaa El Fna. 10-minute small taxi ride to the Majorelle Gardens, the new city, Gueliz and the breath-taking Palmeraie(fantastic for golfing!)
Other Things to Note
Dar Zelda has so many return guests doubtless because Michel, your host, is so good at his vocation, having been born in a hotel on the coast of Brittany, France.
At Dar Zelda we want you to feel right at home. You can take your breakfast on the terrace as late as you wish. And choose a typical Moroccan, English(eggs/omelets) or continental breakfast. Beverages such as coffee, mint tea and orange juice are served free throughout the day.
Great salon with fireplace for relaxing, reading from our extensive library of guides + deco books while sipping cocktails or mint tea with your fantastic host, English-French Michel
He spent a lot of time telling us about how to find our way in/out of the marina and how to get to interesting sites. He was extremely cordial and genuinely helpful.
If I could give ten stars, I would. Brandon and Michel were so welcoming, the place was beautiful and immaculate, and their recommendations for restaurants and activities were spot-on. I felt so completely taken care of, and I can't wait to return someday!
The location of the Riad is good.
We didn't meet the host. There are few people who is working in the Riad are nice people but limited to English communication. So we didn't have any greeting or information tips for travel.
There is smell from the plumbing system, but this is pretty normal from the Medina.
It's lack of maintain and cleanness in the terrace area.
Overall, I feel it's lack of attention to details.
Every time Michel arrived at the riad, the guests were out touring the city. They only stayed 2 short days. It also rained during their stay, which made the terrace difficult to keep clean. We hope they enjoyed their upgrade to a suite. We hope also that they will return soon so they can really get to meet us!
The reservation was canceled 5 days before arrival. This is an automated posting.

About the Host, Brandon
Hello everybody! I was an exchange student to Britanny in France when I was 16, and never came back home to the states, having fallen in love. I spent 2 1/2 years at the American University in Paris, 1 year at l'Universite de Versailles, studied auctioneering at Sotheby's Paris, then graduated in French and political science at the College of Charleston in SC. I worked in a famous French night club, Le Calao, for 9 years as manager, then bought and renovated this riad in Marrakech in 2001, one of the very first boutique hotels in the 'red city'. I adore Marrakech every day more, for its vibrance, colors, perfumes, cuisine, and its amazing Bedouin hospitality. This desert magical city has now stolen my heart. It will do the same for you!
