About this listing
We have a brand new queen size bed for the guest room.
NEW QUEEN SIZE MATTRESS, new sheets and new pillows, everything is anti-allergic and anti-mite. We decorated the room with one beautiful vintage wooden desk that belonged to our grandmother. We offer the big purple wardrobe, into the room, to the guests organize their stuff. There is towels, sheets, blankets, one medium mirror, and a fan.
We are so happy because our home has never been so beautiful than now. We are married for 7 years and Pedro lives in this house for 10 years. Here is our sweet family home. We don't have pets, children and we don't smoke. We have one amazing grand piano, instruments, cds, books and plants.
We like to rent because we like to share experiences and receive people from around the word who like to travel. Always we receive good and sweet guests from airbnb.

Enjoy the hypest bohemian neighborhood in the city. A few minutes walk from Lapa, the Sambódromo and some of the sweetest bars and cafes in town!
We´re a friendly musician/actress couple. The guest room has an independent entrance for better privacy, and guests have access to the fully equiped kitchen (shared with the hosts), wireless internet, shared bathroom and a living room with a hammock and a breathtaking view of downtown Rio, the Guanabara bay and, on clear days, the mountain range afar. Our apartament is gay friendly.
We hope you have a delightful stay and enjoy the city to the fullest!!! Whether it´s your first or thousandth visit to Rio, there are a few suggestions we always like to offer, which are part of what brings magic to our day to day life.
Have a pizza and a beer (or a cachaça) at Goyabeira, one of the bars in Largo das Neves, a couple hundred meters to the right of our front door. Take a walk following the tracks towards the left, and have another beer (and a meat “croquete”) at Armazém S. Thiago, the famous “Bar do Gomes”. For a cheap, honest, homey meal, the Nega Tereza restaurant can´t be beat. For a special occasion, Aprazível (a 5 star gourmet restaurant with a killer view and a classy rustic ambiance – good for a wedding proposal). Getting close to Largo dos Guimarães (always following the tracks) some argentinians opened the finest café in town: Cafecito. Great sandwiches, great coffe, great local draft beer, and great Ice Cream – do try the fig+nuts one.
About a hundred meters down the road, Arnaudo is the choice for traditional northeastern brazil food, and Espirito Santa has got killer gourmet food from the Amazon region!
A mere 10 minute bus ride, or 15 minute walk from here, and you´re in Lapa, the heart of Rio nightlife. Check out Carioca da Gema and Rio Scenarium, for a more groomed, tourist friendly experience (with amazing music!) or check out one of the favorite hype-alternative college cariocas hangout: the 100+ years old art deco ballroom Clube dos Democráticos.
Ask us about other adventures and hot spots, in or out of the Carnaval craze, and we´ll be more than happy to give you directions!
Guests have access to our lovely living room with the hammock (the star of the house) and an amazing view of the city, kitchen, bathroom and laundry space with washer.

Jessica and I love to make new friends and to talk about our city and give suggestions and recommendations on how to make the most out of their stay.
Some people call Santa Teresa the "Montmartre of Rio". It's on top of a hill from where you can see most of the city, including Guanabara Bay, and it's full of nice historic buildings and little cafes and restaurants, that make it the cultural and bohemian hub of the city.
There is one bus line that passes in front of the apartment and takes you directly to the heart of downtown Rio and to the bohemian Lapa neighborhood.
This is a non smoking house. Jessica and I occupy the master bedroom -- and we´re available in case you need anything. Please be courteous with the bathroom time (only one bathroom in the house) and clean after yourself in the kitchen and common areas, so that everyone has the most comfortable time in the house.
Keep the front door locked at all times and please don't bring other people in the house. This is a family home, with our books, our CDs, or photographs -- we're really happy to open this space to you via AirBnb, but we wouldn't want any other people, of whom we have no contacts or references, entering this space we take such loving care of.
We appreciate your taking care of this house as if it was your own!
Jess and Pedro received us as we were family. Late door opening (not an incitation for other next airbnbers), nice breakfast, well cleaned bedroom with towels, it looked better than any hostel or pousada!
The flat is charming, the view is outstanding, the neighborhood is charming. What else?
We can't wait to come back in Rio to discover again and again the city with these amazing hosts... or to welcome them in Paris... as friends!
Pedro und Jessica sind sehr freundliche und zuvorkommende Gastgeber. das Zimmer in einer Künstler Wohnung mit Aussicht vom Wohnzimmer aus ist sauber und hat einen Ventilator.
I stayed four nights and enjoyed this very much. Santa teresa is a good base from which to explore the city, and the flat is beautiful. The guest's room is large, with some space in a wardrobe. I had access to the kitchen and the fridge, as well as the washing machine, which really helped after some time travelling already. I didn't meet Pedro as he was away at the time. He arranged for a friend, Alexandre, to welcome me to the flat and stay there a couple of nights. Alexandre was very friendly and welcoming, but spoke very little English. As I have no Portuguese, this was problematic. I was disappointed, as I'd expressly searched for accommodation hosted by English, French or German speakers, and Pedro did not tell me he would be absent until a few days before my arrival. With more notice, I think I might have made other arrangements. Alexandre did not seem to know much about public transport for the area, and gave me wrong information about local buses (or I misunderstood, I don't know. Either way, I ended up going to the wrong place). One consequence is that I did a lot of uphill walking in the heat and spent money on taxis unnecessarily: it wasn't until the last evening when I was checking the room for forgotten items that I found a sheet in English with some relevant information. I don't know why this was not put in a more prominent place or why Alexandre did not give it to me, it really would have saved a lot of trouble. Another consequence is that I was unable to call on local knowledge of the city and events - which was my main reason for using airbnb in the first place. So in this respect, my stay was equivalent to staying in a moderately priced hotel, there was little advantage in having stayed in someone's home. Although a hotel would have had more information about the local area, including relevant transport, as well as a shower which didn't require a special knack to operate effectively.
We could not have had a better place to stay during our three weeks long visit in Rio de Janeiro - in the heart of the city, in a newly refurbished and beautiful apartment, with a wonderful and caring couple always making us feel relaxed and welcome in their home!
My sister and I had a terrific stay at Pedro & Jessica's house! Their house was as it showed on these pictures, cozy and lovely. Guest room was big enough for us with a writing desk and a closet, and big window. The whole house was always filled with fresh air everywhere with windows kept open. We loved the view from the living room window in the mornings and nights. It was a quiet, pleasant moment hearing the birds chirping, looking out cats in the neighborhood chilling on their balconies with a cup of tea. The location was great. We would walk down to the nearest metro station. On the way back, we used taxi for about RS$10, otherwise you walk up the hill trying to catch the breath. Santa teresa offers many points of interest, you can spend relaxed day out and also in the night there are restaurants and bars along the way to dine out. We loved our stay!
Thank you very much for your kind help, Pedro and Jessica! :)
We had absolutely the best time staying with Pedro and Jessica! Their home is quaint and full of character. And, Pedro and Jessica are characters in their own right too. They shared with us all the great things there were to see, do and eat in Santa Teresa--and there are plenty. Santa Teresa is the Brooklyn of Rio; for those that are familiar with San Fransisco, the Mission District. Plenty of graffiti, street art, great restaurants and shops. Pedro was also super helpful when it came to navigating the rest of Rio. Tips about the bus system and the white Volkswagen vans are absolutely necessary since Pedro and Jessica's place might as well sit at one of the highest points in the neighborhood. Why walk up a million steps when you can catch the 14 bus for about 0.30USD?? Even still, Santa Teresa is very walkable and fairly close to everything. Would recommend this place to anyone looking for a slightly less touristy, a little more authentic, experience. Would also recommend this place to anyone who wants to stay with gracious and welcoming hosts!
