Interaction with Guests
My philosophy regarding interaction with guests is.... I am here for whenever you need, suggestions on what to see/do and how to get there! Or... Our interaction can be a bit "less frequent", only when necessary giving you as much privacy as possible! You may see another guest, interaction is never mandatory, but mutual respect is! Please ALWAYS keep this in mind...OGH is not just a business to me, it is my home- A home filled with original art, valuable and sentimental detail, all meant to be enjoyed, but also to be respected. Your trip should be about having a GREAT time, not about worrying about house rules and the fact that OGH is my home. If we all remain cognizant of the absolute, non-negotiable requirement for respect for the people and surroundings that make OGH so special, then everything else falls into place!
This is a wonderful and unique city and so is OGH- its a perfect match!. Ahhhhh, the location....."SO MUCH TO DO...SUCH LITTLE DISTANCE!" I know you will enjoy your stay here, and I am happy you chose the right place!
My neighborhood was ranked one of the top 10 in the country by Men's Journal Magazine- I concur. I have great relationships with my neighbors and I can't overemphasize the importance of extending that mutual respect during your stay. Its one of those requests that fall under the mandatory column!- I am confident that you will love this quiet and beautiful neighborhood! Its a special place for many reasons- thats one.
By foot, walk to NOLA's streetcar line, rent bikes or scooters, canoes or kayaks, or a short cab ride to the Qtr and beyond, there is so much to do here and really (in my opinion) NO BETTER LOCATION! Plus- you'll have a driveway with off-street parking if you will have a car during your stay.
Other Things to Note
Remember, I have a 4 night minimum, sometimes a bit longer for Jazz Fest, and Mardi Gras, VooDoo Fest, sometimes less if we negotiate it, usually under rare circumstances. The only thing with less flexibility is the maximum capacity limits- Even though The Crescent can sleep 6-7, with 2 BRs (one queen, one full) and sofa pullout capacity for 2 more (with a gel memory foam topper), I limit capacity to 6-7. Exceptions are always negotiable but The Crescent is a luxury unit, and not intended, really, to be "maxed" out in terms of capacity. Its just not :that kind of place", and neither is all of OGH just generally. There is, though, another unit above, Bayou View, which can accommodate 3-4 more adults if your crew is larger and needs to spread out to as much as 10 (6-7 in The Crecent, and 3-4 in Bayou View)! Check out our availability, and maybe the dates will allow a stay at both! Also, last reminder...my price fluctuations are minimal (with NO holiday or special even gouging!), with reasonable weekly and monthly rates, as well. One other clarification- my refund policy is not identical to the AIRBNB "refund policy" listed on my behalf. Please note, cancellation at 30 days or before is 100% refundable. Within that 30 day period (from day 29 until check-in), it is non-refundable (not 50% refundable as indicated in AIRBNB policy choices. If you would ever like clarification on specific dates, or double unit availability, further clarification on payment and refund policies, please feel free to send me a message, via airbnb, and I am happy to respond! OGH and both units are gorgeous and comfortable. I would love to host your next NOLA trip- a unique city deserves a unique stay!
Above all, respect for the space, indoor and outdoor (remember, this is also my home!), RESPECTful and courteous behavior with ALL neighbors- If anything needs attention, tell me- we'll fix it. Ashtrays for OUTSIDE smoking (no smoking inside, ever- that part is never negotiable- but outside, smoke away!). Pets are usually ok, but only at The Crescent, and approved in advance with the host, me)- And finally, have fun, eat great food, and re-book before you check-out... I would love to consider you a "regular" at OGH!
Same BR just a different angle-stylish & really comfortable! Although you can't see it, each BR has a HD smart TV and DVD
Wendy was a fabulous host!! She was welcoming and friendly and so helpful with questions we had about the area. The space was perfect for us and had every necessity you could want/need. It was very clean and comfortable. We would absolutely stay here again and would recommend it to our very best friends.
The photographs of Wendy's Crescent listing do not even begin to do justice to the charms of her lovely accommodations! The property is beautifully appointed, filled with loving design and innumerable considerate details. Wendy runs her available space with all the professionalism and polish of a high end, established boutique hotel. My group of four was entirely wowed by our accommodations during our visit to New Orleans over Mardi Gras weekend, and Wendy's delightful demeanor and kind attention made our stay unspeakably pleasant. Additionally, the central location was incredibly convenient to all the attractions we could have wanted to experience. Honestly, we couldn't have been more impressed with our stay, and we have all already recommended Wendy to friends and family considering trips to New Orleans. We very much look forward to returning to the Orleans Guest House very soon!
Staying in the Crescent unit of the Orleans guest house exceeded expectations. The space is beautiful and comfortable. The location is perfect for those who want to be close to City Park/ know what it is like to stay in a true NOLA neighborhood. Wendy is an amazing host. She was attentive and made us feel welcome from the moment we began exchanging emails about our stay right through the time we sadly had to say goodbye. The unit comfortably fit our party of four. The design of the space is executed so well and all of the furnishings are high end yet comfortable. The outdoor space is a gem and the kitchen has everything you could possibly need. Wendy even put together a city guide with recommendations that were all spot on. If you want to get a feel for the "real" New Orleans, look no further. We would definitely love to visit again!
We were the first guest and it was awesome! What a great experiance! Walking through the door I knew this was going to be an exciting vacation. Wendy was so sweet and hospitable. We arrived in town late and she was still up to greet and show us around her beautiful home. There was 4 of us and we all were comfortable. The kitchen was sooooo beautiful, and beds were better than the ones I have at home. There was a sitting area in the back to relax, cook, or take a relaxing smoke break. We didnt need or want for a thing while there because she had everything (except groceries). I really dont have enough space to articulate exactly how beautiful, comfortable, relaxing, and upscale this home is. Wendy put alot of work and love into this beautiful home and it showed.

About the Host, Wendy
I am a lifelong resident of New Orleans and I love my city! My absolute pleasure is providing a safe, beautiful, comfortable, and stylish (of course) place to stay while you visit New Orleans, the BEST CITY ON EARTH!
My philosophy on hosting is making sure that your stay is all you expected it would be, which means availability whenever you need me while also respecting your privacy and ensuring your safety. However we achieve that is largely about preference and personality- some guests are comfortable, and expect, more interaction. Others... just the minimum, and as necessary, of course. Wherever you fall under those descriptions , I am completely comfortable with adopting your preference, as long as we both understand that regardless of how much or little interaction we have, I expect you always keep in mind that OGH is also my residence, and you are staying in my home. I want you to have an absolute monster good time, but it is mandatory that while achieving that level of enjoyment, we always maintain a mutual respect between us, respect for my home, respect for privacy (mine, yours, and fellow guests), the neighborhood and neighbors- basically all surroundings! I guarantee you will leave OGH wanting to return! I EXPECT YOUR STAY TO BE... FUN AND COMFORTABLE AND RELAXING AND PRIVATE AND SAFE AND ALL YOU HOPED IT WOULD BE. I have great suggestions (and a great guide I developed) on food, music, activities, events, so much that NOLA has to offer.
OGH is beautiful- you picked the right spot!
CHEERS! Et Bienvenue 'a la Nouvelle-Orleans...
