Private sunny room in the heart of Harlem available in large apartment in a building erected in 1933 that now has landmark status. The apartment is located in Sugarhill, an historic area of Harlem on the Upper Westside of NYC. The room is about 100 sq ft with a built-in floor-to-ceiling closet, twin size bed, a nightstand, lounge chair and a floor. I have 2 additional bedrooms listed on airbnb. I open my space to people like you who are in need of short-term accommodations while in NYC for work, pleasure, or both. If you book one of my rooms, there may be others travelers in my apartment upon your arrival. So If you book one of my rooms, please be trusting and open to the marvelous opportunity to get to know new people. The apt decor is mid-century modern. I am a fashion designer and often work from home in my studio. I have a lovely little cat named Missy. The neighborhood is undergoing gentrification and has an eclectic mix of artists, and professionals of various income levels and ethnicities.
Jackie Robinson Park, designated an Historic Harlem Park, is one block away. The park includes an amphitheater for summer concerts and a public swimming pool. There are grocery stores, banks, and restaurants within a few blocks. The apartment is located on the block of an express A/D and local C/B subway train stops making trip to mid and lower Manhattan short (15-30 minutes) and easy. Wireless internet is included. No couples (one person per room), no guests, no smokers, and no drugs.
I have 2 additional rooms available. So parties of up to 3 who wish to each have a private room in the same apartment may book with me. Please look to the left and see "My Other Listings"
My stay at Kim's was nice, I had my own bedroom what was really nice and had to share the kitchen and bathroom. The neighborhood is also nice and it's perfect that the subway entrance is literally in front of the building, grocery store is around the corner and so is also the Starbucks!
I had a great stay for a few nights in Kimberley's apartment, it's really conveniently located and Kimberley is a great host.
Kimberly's apartment is wonderful. The bathroom and the Kitchen are bright and spacious, The room was very comfortable, especially the bed, I stayed for 6 nights and it was perfect. The metro station is downstairs as are grocery stores, pizza shops and a fruit stand.
I had no trouble getting around all of Manhattan from Kimberly's apartment and its really easy to get to and from the airport on the A line.
Would recommend Kimberly's place and Harlem to anyone traveling to New York.
This was my first experience with Airbnb and overall I am satisfied with that. I would recommend Kim’s apartment.
Kim replied to my messages super quickly and was very nice. Kim and the other guest – who was staying in the room next to mine – were very considerate and did not disturb at all. The apartment is located in an historical building on a very busy intersection so you might hear some noise from the streets. The location is really convenient for the subway: the express A train will take you to Columbus Circle in 10 minutes!
Kimberly was very sweet, the room was spacious and well furnished with exactly what I needed. There was a great kitchen and bathroom - perfect for my needs. The place was RIGHT off the A/B/C/D 145th street station, so it was convenient for getting around, and in a really cool neighborhood in Harlem. Definitely reccommended!
I had a great stay at Kims place. I wasn't there much but Kim was very friendly and helpful when i met her and the place was clean and nice. Would definitely book Kims place again for next trip to NYC!
Kimberly was very nice person and host. Her house was just near the subway station and it was very convenient. House is Just 20-25 minutes away from city center. I felt save even if I came back home at late night. Across the road there in 'Dunkin' Donuts' and 'Subway' shops. I think it is ideal place for short stay in NYC.
It´s exactly what I needed for my brief stay of 3 nights, 2 days in New York. It´s a clean and spacious stay in upper Manhattan right on the corner of a subway station that gets you express to downtown.and back. Even though I wanted to stay in Brooklyn I don´t regret now having been in the famous Harlem.
Kim is a wonderful and gracious host. She was very accommodating and even took the time to invite me to hang out with her (unfortunately our time schedules did not allow that). Kim is very respectful of common spaces and privacy. Sometimes, it felt like no one else was living there. I like the balance between giving someone privacy as well as taking time out of your schedule to have a conversation with them.
The room itself is small but is big enough for one person. The neighborhood is an up and coming neighborhood. The building is an older building so it's not the cleanest and not the most appealing. I never felt unsafe nor felt that it was too dirty. The building can be spruced up with minor cosmetic changes but all in all the greatest feature of the building is its location and proximity to the subway. There is a Dunkin Donuts across the street; also Starbucks and a PathMark are not too far away. In terms of location, the Subway is literally outside your door! I needed to get to Columbus Circle everyday and it took me about a minute to get to the subway and it is about an 11 minute subway ride when taking the express train. All in all, in terms of location and ability to move around this place is great!
To be at Kimberlys place was ok, particularly compared to the costs. Kimberly gives you all the information you need, answers every question - no more, no less. The whole flat is clean, but the room is really kind of sad and far away from being cosy. I think, maybe at least a sleeping light would be nice. I left it early in the morning and came back at night - because, of course it`s New York, that every visitor wants to see - and for this it`s a cheap, good connected, alright accomodation. Maybe for this reason I would rent it again, but maybe I would also like to enjoy a place a little bit more cosy.
