The space

This space is in an unusually beautiful house with a swimming pool that is available in the hotter months.

Guest access

Kitchen, living room and dining room and entrance hall. Swimming pool in the summer.

Interaction with guests

I can't promise I'll be there all the time but I do my best to be available or to have someone else available at the beginning and end of the day.

Getting around

I am four plus blocks from the subway. (an eight minute walk) The subway has three different lines that run through my Eastern Market station which means that the trains to the Mall come very frequently as all three lines go there before going to different places. Besides the subway are several streets with lots and lots of restaurants.

I am one stop away from the Capitol and the US Supreme Court and the Library of Congress. The subway runs along the Mall before going elsewhere in DC. You can take the subway to the various museums, monuments and art galleries. Or you can walk 25 minutes from my house to the Capitol, down the Hill to the Mall. At its end the Lincoln Monument. Most of my guests walk or rent a bicycle. They seem to enjoy the experience.

The District last year initiated a new bus service for the Mall called the Circulator. It only costs $1.00 a piece so you can take it to the various places on the Mall and get off and then later get on again. It's a great service and lots of my guests use it when they get tired.

House Rules
No smoking
Not suitable for pets
No parties or events
Check in time is 2PM - 2AM (next day)

No smoking and no drugs. You are welcome to use the kitchen but please don't use my best crystal glasses and expensive plates. I expect normal wear and tear from someone staying a room. But remember this is not a hotel. It’s a home and I hope you will treat the room gently and lovingly. Like something you value immensely.

Heather's place was very comfortable and open. We were able to get to many of the tourist sites so easily. It is so convenient, near to Metro, bus, and 30 minutes walk to Capital. Bedroom is very spacious, however there are no windows. Bathroom is for your private use, up a few steps from downstairs. Thank you, Heather.

It was lovely meeting Ms. Heather. Her house is serene and artsy at the same time. She is always willing to help and share information. Would definitely book again when in D.C.

Heathers place is very close to public transport and if you wanted to spend time in the National Mall this is an ideal location. The Blue Line Metro train is easily accessible and the Circulator bus is very convenient. The room is very comfortable and spacious. The bathroom is conveniently located just across the gym room and up a few stairs.

We loved staying at Heather's. She was helpful, her home is lovely, and the location is perfect. We wanted to get in plenty of walking and we did that, walking to the capitol and the mall with all its museums. I would love to go back.

Retired Capitol Hill worker. Lawyer. Now look at the Stock Market every day. Like suggesting to people what to see in DC.
