Dear Game Goers! Welcome to Gainesville and we are happy to host you. Please state in your inquiry message that you understand and agree to our NO PARTIES policy and no indoor smoking of any kind.

1 bedroom 1 bath apartment, near UF & airport, full kitchen, new appliances & microwave. Casper queen sized bed. Open living room/dinning room area w/ great lighting and ambiance. Quarter mile nature trail through 5 acres of magnolias, oaks & towering pines right outside the front door.

The space
I bought this apartment in October of 2018 because I lived next door and I had a vision for what it could be. The Owl's Roost is the front half of a duplex, and there is a little old house beside it that I am currently working on. The three of them are on an acre of land with a huge stand of bamboo, many towering pines, and a collection of very happy palm trees. Honestly, I was in love with the woods and didn't want them to disappear so I bought the whole thing and have taken the houses on as my next big project. I have a secret love for interior design, and it has been a deeply satisfying experience for me to breathe new life and beauty into these old, neglected spaces.

It is called “The Owl's Roost” because barred owls roost in the live oak boughs outside the front door. They can be heard calling to each other at night, and sometimes even in the afternoon! The home is also on a busy street, and it's common to hear the blaring radios of cars, scooters, and even bicycles as they pass on the street. This acoustic mash up of human culture and animal life is a wild wonder that some will appreciate as much as I do.

There is no TV in the unit. While I myself love to watch shows, it was a conscious choice to create a sanctuary where the screen is not the focus. There is wifi however with internet fast enough for streaming.

LGBT friendly and welcoming.

Where you’ll be

Gainesville, Florida, United States

The Roost is located in an urban area close to good food, a great grocery store, and fun cafes. This is a racially diverse and culturally vibrant neighborhood with a rich history as a haven for working class families for generations. Unlike many parts of Gainesville (and the world more broadly), it is not in a process of volatile gentrification. The streets nearby are lined with well loved, well maintained, owner occupied homes. It's a beautiful neighborhood to explore by bike or on foot. All this said, it is urban! It is not a gated community in the suburbs. If that is what you are looking for, please look elsewhere. If, however, urban oasis is your cup of tea, you will love it here.
