The Sunshine Coast! - Renowned for having more sun than the rest of the UK each year and an excellent place to access the South Downs from.
Eastbourne offers a clean & friendly atmosphere by the sea with numerous events on throughout the year.
The lounge, with tv, dvd, freeview, hi-fi & lots of cd's & dvds! Plus a balcony from which you can just see the sea (you could see the beach but it is lower than the street level!)
Formerly known as 'Plenty of Sun, Sea & Shingle'. A new name to reflect the number of hikers, walkers and ramblers I have hosted over the years. All other types of guests are very much welcome still.
The room & flat
I have a double room available for rent within my 4th floor apartment. As well as the room there is a spacious lounge for your use and kitchen with all the mod cons you may need. The charge for preparing cooked food is £2 per day which can be payable by cash upon arrival or departure. Wifi internet is free to use as is the washing machine and all the tea or coffee you can drink! Breakfast is included in the price on a help yourself basis and if you'd like anything in particular to eat or drink I'd be happy to accommodate you. Otherwise I shall provide a selection of breads and cereals.
I'm happy to host solo travellers and single occupancy for the double room is at no extra cost.
I am currently only at the flat on some days (Monday, Tuesday & Thursday day-times mostly) so you will have the flat to yourselves during the majority of your stay.
If you're driving here there is safe (free) roadside parking around the flat. If you're coming by train or bus I offer a free pick-up service when you arrive and, if I'm available, I can drop you off also when you leave.
Directions provided upon booking.
I'd be happy to answer any other questions you may have so just ask!
p.s. more photos to come soon...
Bedroom (bath & shower), bathroom, kitchen (and all utilities), lounge (tv, dvd, freeview, open fire), free wifi.
Interaction with Guests
When I'm in I'm happy to chat, it's always nice to meet my guests. I can also suggest places to eat & drink etc. (see also the guidebook - I have listed many places there).
Located just outside the town centre (10 minute walk so away from any noise) and just off the seafront (1 minute walk) the flat is excellently positioned for access to the beach, the South Downs & Beachy Head (30-40 minute walk to the top) and any other attractions in the town centre.
Eastbourne is a medium sized town on the south coast that provides easy access by train to Brighton (about 40min), Hastings (about 25min) and London (1.5hrs). Known as the sunshine coast it has a long promenade, shingle beach and a pier.
The town centre (10-15min walk) has all the amenities (shops etc.) you may need and plenty of restaurants, pubs, bars, theatres (2min walk) and a couple of nightclubs. My apartment is also an excellent starting point for walks up onto Beachy Head and the South Downs being no more than 30 minutes walk to the top.
Top events are the free airshow (Airbourne 14th-17th August) including the famous Red Arrows, the Tennis tournament (many up and coming players can be seen here; 14th-21st June), two beer & cider festivals, a vintage car show & an extreme sports event! Asides from the extreme sports event they can all be accessed with a couple of minute's walk!
All bus routes & the train station can be accessed from the town centre which is a 10-15 minute walk. Walks onto the Downs can start at the flat & it takes about 30 minutes to get to the top of the hills.
Respect the flat as if it were your own. That's about it really!
I spent 2 weeks at Simon's place during my studies in Eastbourne and I was very satisfied. Simon was a very uncomplicated, polite and generous host and I could always get in touch with him when needed. The apartment (especially the kitchen) was very well equipped and clean and the location was perfect for me, since it was close to the promenade, halfway between city centre/station and the university.
I can definitely recommend the place to anybody who is looking for a simple, but fully equipped accommodation.
I very much enjoyed staying at Simon's house. Simon was very welcoming and helpful and even asked if I wanted to join him and his friends socially in the evening!
Simon was a very hospitable host and said to make full use of his flat.
Location was excellent and close walking proximity to the start of the Beachy Head race, which was the reason for the trip to Eastbourne.
Double room was perfect, nice and big and clean and plenty of useful information about the area.
Will definately be keen to stay there again on our next visit to Eastbourne!
The location was brilliant for attending a concert at the Winter Gardens, just a short stroll back. The accommodation was clean, tidy, quiet and comfortable and Simon made me feel very welcome. Highly recommended...thanks
Simon was a very kind host. He provided breakfast for us and many useful information leaflets could be found in the room. The room was comfortable and the location is very close to the beach. We both enjoyed our stay there.
Simon is a very friendly and nice host. The double room is big and clean, like the rest of the flat. The flat is near the sea and town. My boyfriend and I really enjoyed our time in Eastbourne. Just the Wi-Fi wasn't always working.
Because of his great flexibility I spent a wonderful 3 days and 2 nights at Simon's place.
Even though my train arrived 2 hrs later than scheduled, he still managed to pick me up from the station.
The room was spacious with plenty of drawer and wardrobe space and sockets. The bed was really comfortable with a naturally filled duvet and great pillows.
I was very happy to help myself to breakfast in my own time and didn't
even have to do any dishes during my stay.
I got a lift back to the station from a very laid back Simon.
