Plenty of Sun, Sea and Shingle

Apartment - Private room · Jevington Gardens, Eastbourne, East Sussex BN21 4, United Kingdom

The Sunshine Coast! - Renowned for having more sun than the rest of the UK - though not enough for me to guarantee it during your visit!
Eastbourne offers a clean & friendly atmosphere by the sea with numerous events on throughout the year.

The Space

The room & flat

I have a single and double room available for rent within my 4th floor apartment (only one at a time as I need the other to sleep in!). As well as the room there is a spacious lounge and kitchen with all the mod cons you may need & are free for you to use as you please. Wifi internet is free to use as is the washing machine and all the tea or coffee you can drink! Breakfast included as standard and if you'd like anything in particular I'd be happy to accommodate you.

Getting here

If you're driving here there is safe (free) roadside parking around the flat. If you're coming by train or bus I offer a free pick-up and drop-off service anywhere in Eastbourne when you arrive and leave. Also, if I'm not busy then I can provide taxi services if needed at 25p per mile (17p per km). (pick up from Gatwick Airport would cost £30 and Heathrow £50 plus an additional £5 to cover short term parking costs).

Directions provided upon booking.

Additional information

If you would like any meals in addition to breakfast then these are available as well (you'll be well fed, I make all my meals from scratch using as much organic and local produce as possible, no microwave ready meals here!). Just let me know in advance so I can buy the food & check that I am .

And finally...

I'd be happy to answer any other questions you may have so just ask!

Guest Access

Bedroom (bath & shower), bathroom, kitchen (and all utilities), lounge (tv, dvd, freeview, open fire), free wifi.

Interaction with Guests

When I'm in I'm happy to socialise & get to know you a bit better (that's one of the fun parts of homestay!). I can also show you around town if I'm free & suggest places to eat & drink.

The Neighborhood

Located just outside the town centre (10 minute walk so away from any noise) and just off the seafront (1 minute walk) the flat is excellently positioned for access to the beach, the South Downs & Beachy Head (30-40 minute walk to the top) and any other attractions in the town centre.

Eastbourne is a medium sized town on the south coast that provides easy access by train to Brighton (about 40min), Hastings (about 25min) and London (1.5hrs). Known as the sunshine coast it has a long promenade, shingle beach and a pier.
The town centre (10-15min walk) has all the amenities (shops etc.) you may need and plenty of restaurants, pubs, bars, theatres (2min walk) and a couple of nightclubs. My apartment is also an excellent starting point for walks up onto Beachy Head and the South Downs being no more than 30 minutes walk to the top.

Top events are the free airshow (Airbourne 14th-17th August) including the famous Red Arrows, the Tennis tournament (many up and coming players can be seen here; 14th-21st June), two beer & cider festivals, a vintage car show & an extreme sports event! Asides from the extreme sports event they can all be accessed with a couple of minute's walk!

Getting around

All bus routes & the train station can be accessed in the town centre (10-15 minute walk). If it's raining & I'm not busy I am happy to drop you off free of charge.

  • Once again a comfortable stay - the apartment is clean and Simon is a welcoming host and enjoyed our chats. He also cooked an excellent meal which was most welcome. Hope to return again soon

  • I stayed with Simon for an entire week whilst attending a masters module at the university. The flat is walkable distance between the campus and also to the main high street in town, making it a really good location to stay in. Simon himself is a nice guy who let's you get on with your things but also has the time to chat if you do, he is very helpful and flexible with making arrangements.

  • Simon's flat was brilliant. It was immaculate, cozy, and surprisingly spacious. The apartment is about 15 minutes away walking from the city centre and the train station.

Simon himself is wonderfully kind and accommodating, as well as fun and good humoured. He offered to pick me up from the station and proceeded to make my entire stay enjoyable. He even asked me what I wanted for breakfast and bought some of the fruit I wanted before I arrived!

He was also super great about flexible check-out. I was there for conferences and he had no problem with me checking in a bit later in the day.

Overall a really wonderful place to have stayed. I would love to do so again! Until next time.

  • Hi people! I spent good time in England and in specially at Simon's home! He's so friendly, and you can stay in your home as much time as you like.
I can't say something else, because I had to go earlt than I booked. But if you go to Eastbourse I recommend going to Simon's home.
    Greetings!

  • I stayed with Simon over 2 days and I found it very comfortable and cosy. I would recommend him to anyone looking for a nice and cheap room with easy access to the beach and town.

  • Simon is a very nice host and his flat is absolutely gorgeous and cosy. The room is clean and well equipped. Very close to the sea. I'd recommend it to anyone!

    October 2013
  • I stayed in Simons single room for four nights as i was working nearby and looking for something on the budget end. It was clean and comfortable and the flat a good size.Simon was really quick at responding to questions & queries and a nice guy who i watched a film and had a beer with. His food was very tasty aswell.
Only point to bear in mind is that his flat is on the fourth floor (all stairs).
If im in the area again i would be happy to stay there again.
