Hi, I rent my little house in my little town, Peschici (Apulia). I offer this accommodation for short period during all year.
The accommodation is perfect for two persons, it is composed by one bedroom with a bathroom but the very surprise is the location, in front of Adriatic sea, into the mediterranean vegetation that we call "macchia mediterranea", a fantastic location above the cliff. The apartement is in my private property, near my house. The location is suitable to reach the center of town in 10 minutes walk . The closest beach is S.Nicola bay. There isn't a kitchen but I provide an espresso electric machine and a little fridge. You could taste the typical food in more restaurants of town and I can offer you a special price in the resturant of my family, it is not so far from the accommodation and with 15 euro you can taste all specialities of Southern Italy.
A little place in front of the sea is the best place to discover that "the life is a wonderful thing". Try to come back.
Carmela's home was located in a very peaceful and beautiful setting. The drive there (we were coming from Rome) was lovely. Winding road along the coast. The room was basic but clean; it had a small fridge, table and chairs, coffee and espresso maker, bed and a sofa. Carmela kindly provided with some biscotti and bottled water upon our arrival. The view from outside is quite lovely and there is a small patio with two lounge chairs available. We ate in town once and it was very reasonably priced.
We would have only two minor complaints. We were at Carmela's in March and the room was a little chilly. The room does have a heater but it doesn't seem to be able to heat the room completely. However, there were lots of blankets - so we were not cold in the bed - it was just a little chilly going to the bathroom! Perhaps if the heater had been turned on in advance it might have helped.
Our other minor complaint is that the directions to her house were poor making it difficult to find. Our suggestion would be to ask, by email in advance, for detailed directions upon arrival in town - ask for landmarks. That said, however, Carmela was available by phone and her daughter came and met us and led us to the house (and we arrived late - about 10 p.m.). Carmela does not speak much English, but we were able to communicate somewhat with the daughter who found us quite easily. Turns out we were not very far from the house!
Those two complaints are minor and we would highly recommend Carmela's house!
Upon our arrival it was a bit rocky as no one was there to meet us. We waited 2 hours, then found a cafe to make a phone call. We reached Carmela on the phone but could not communicate with her so we then went back and still know one was there. As it was getting late we went in search of new accomadation and while winding through tiny little streets we ran into a lady waving at us. We must have looked like tourists! It was Carmela! So we followed her back, she let us into the apartment and she was off, it was very brief and we didn't communicate with her the rest of our stay. But, her daughters were very kind, introduced themselves and gave us suggestions on places to go which was very helpful and appreciated!
Carmelas place is very beautiful, tranquil and relaxinig. You can sleep easy while listening to the sound of the ocean, it was nice to come back to after a long day. We sat outside everyday to enjoy the fresh breeze. We also made two new great friends, her lovely dog Erculi and cat Breta who made the stay very nice too.
You definitely need a car if you have heavy bags and want to go visit anywhere outside of the Peschici. The town was very quiet and nice but there are not many places open this time of year. But, we did find one incredible restuarant which we highly reccomend (10 minute walk from Carmelas) Restaurante Da Carlino! Go!!! The family is so kind and the food is to die for!!!!
Other than the arrival, lack of communication and having to be outside to use the internet our stay was great!
We stayed 2 nights at Carmela's place, it was amazing, just as described, perfect little place to get away from the world, we will definitely return next year!
If you are not afraid of a little walking, it is totally okay to arrive by bus (except on Sunday, when there is no bus from Vieste to Peschici). It takes around 10 minutes to reach the old town, where Carmela advised us on some nice restaurant, which we also enjoyed very much!
It was a little tricky to find but once there was an absolutely incredible rental. We wished we had more time to relax and enjoy the view. The room was small but comfortable. Hope to have the chance to visit again.
Fabulous location, amazing views
Carmela's apartment was lovely and the view just superb. Carmela had made a lovely cake that was waiting for us in our room and she was very nice and helpful. We enjoyed our stay and the it is a very beautiful part of the world, something for everyone. We would recommend Carmela's apartment to any couple.
Carmela is a very nice host. The room is spacious and well furnished, there is also a small hob where to prepare an Italian coffee in the morning, fridge, TV but no WIFI ( I think there is a poor signal because of the house located to a precipitous rock). By the way, you need a car to get there.
Ercole ( the dog) and Bred ( the cat) are very playful, so if you love animals it's a bonus!
Not to mention the view from the room, amazing! Straight to the coast...with the beautiful blue sea of Peschici!
Although we struggled with the English/Italian language barrier, Carmela was an exceptional host! She drove us into town on more than one occasion and showed us many secret gems in the Peschici countryside. She even baked us a cake the day we arrived! I would absolutely recommend this to anyone visiting Peschici.
We loved Carmela's place and it was heaven to sit by the sea at sunset and watch all the sea birds.
Carmela does not speak English but if you speak Italian you'll love chatting to her - she is a very warm and natural host and keen to form friendships.
The room itself is very romantic and great value too.
Breakfast is not included and the kitchen when we stayed there is very basic - no kettle, just a microwave and fridge and coffee maker. However Carmela went out of her way to make us feel welcome and allowed me to cook our dinner in her beautiful kitchen and even lent me some ingredients.
We also made friends with the Hercules, the family Alsation dog who has a very gentle nature and lives for you to throw stones for him.
The peninsula is simply stunning but a long way by car from anywhere - Roma was 5 hours with foot down! We loved Carmela's recommendations for the San Nicola Beach and found a beautiful seafood restaurant on the headland there. A walk up in the primeval forest is a must too.
It's a place we'd love to come back to again and the area is great for families and hikers. The town is lively too but a good 30 minutes walk away up a steep hill. It's good to have a car here.
Certainly book to stay with Carmela and have a wonderful time!
a lovely, quiet place with really a great view, and thank you for the delicous selfmade cake, we would like to come again
