About this listing
One double bed upstairs in private home. Bathroom for their use is downstairs. Foam mattress available on the floor if a double bed is not a good sharing option.
Your hosts are seasoned international travelers who enjoy meeting and hosting others.
We do have 2 cats for those who have concerns about allergies.
We make our kitchen available to those guests who would like to make their own meals. We provide coffee or tea but the incidence of dietary restrictions is so great these days that we choose not to provide breakfast. Also our morning schedules are quite variable so we are not always available.
I like to know if people are planning on food prep so I can make room in the fridge and am happy to share the incidentals like oil, spices, sugar, etc.
Living room and TV room is open to them as well.
Interaction with Guests
We are happy to share our whole home with guests - they are welcome to our kitchen and living areas - but are also respectful of the fact that some folks need to have their own space. We always enjoy some conversation and if we need our own space are upfront about communicating that.
We also try not to be too demanding on their time as we realize they have come to the area with specific events to attend - but this can be a challenge as our curiosity leads us to want to know them better. AirBNB is such a good way to remind us all that there are lots of good and interesting people in the world!
Quiet. Open space. Easy access into Middlebury.
Close to ski areas for winter fun and to Lake Champlain or Lake Dunmore for summer recreation.
Sadly not! This is semi-rural Vermont!
Other Things to Note
We are willing to rent the whole house out for events at Middlebury College. The house could accommodate 3 couples - one room with king-size bed, one queen and one double. Mattresses can also be put on the floor if here are more folks. Please contact me for pricing.
We like to know an approximate arrival time so that we can arrange to be here to welcome you. Communicating any delays makes things go smoother for us but we are understanding about the vagaries of travel.
Otherwise we are not too rule oriented - clean up after yourself in the kitchen, ask for what you need to make your visit more comfortable, keep the shower curtain in so the floor stays reasonably dry, and no need to make the bed when you leave as we do change the sheets for the next visitor!
Oh yes, no smoking! And no perfumes, aftershave or strong smelling toiletries please.
Wendy made me feel very welcome. I appreciated her open door policy and extensive gardens. House could use a good cleaning and de-cluttering. It's on a main road which gets some traffic and farm ambiance. It's got potential.
I traveled to Middlebury VT to cycle in the Farm to Fork Gran Fondo held on July 12th. When I arrived, Wendy made me feel very welcome. I cycled on both days in the nearby Green Mountains and I found Wendy's house a relaxing place to recuperate after my rides. I enjoyed sitting on the back veranda overlooking the expansive garden. My room was spacious and comfortable. Thank you to Wendy and her husband for opening their home to me.
Had a very nice stay with friendly hostess and host. Slept very well and appreciated short drive to Middlebury College and town. Aloha, Phillip and Luke
Wendy and Glenn were very hospitable! The house was charming and beautiful, located in the rural Vemont countryside. I just stayed for one night but Wendy made me feel very welcome without being too overbearing. She understood that I would be gone for most of the evening and didn't have any issues with me returning to the house late at night. She and her husband even let me use their fridge to keep some of my snacks fresh :)
Communication was prompt and easy with Wendy regarding arrival, which made for a smoother trip. I arrived at Wendy and Glenn's house more than a little road-weary, towards the tail end of a long solo trip on my motorcycle. They were warm and welcoming hosts, and their gardens were so soothing and lovely.
Without my asking, Glenn helped me out of a technical jam I was having with my bike, and that was likely the kindness that saved my sanity for the last few days of my trip. I can't express how much I appreciated the help.
Wendy met us at the door with a warm welcome. After introducing us to her husband and showing us around, she led us to her guest room and we felt right at home. Wendy invited us to join them in the living room to join them in the living room but also gave us full flexibility to just relax on our own. Our stay was brief and my only regret is that we didn't have more time to enjoy their home and their company.
Thanks for your lovely review. We do usually have an air mattress - but on inflating it we found it leaked and were hoping a 15 year old who might go to lots of sleep-overs would be OK on less comfort. Sorry to not have been more verbal about that and hope the mother-daughter intimacy wasn't too much of a stretch!
Wendy and Glenn are great hosts. They are very friendly and inviting, and their home is very warm and relaxed. Being a girl born and raised in Los Angeles, their home seems out in the middle of nowhere, but that means you have a beautiful backyard view of a small pond and all sorts of wildlife to sit on the back porch and watch. For our first airbnb stay, we had a wonderful time and loved our stay. Thank you!
About the Host, Wendy
I'm an acupuncturist, my husband is a musician. We are both 62 years old - good conversationalists, travelers, easy and respectful company. We like the outdoors and a natural life - but sometimes enjoy a bit of city excitement.
