Welcome to the ‘Hen House’, a small, 1920's, cottage on our large, working wheat farm. Enjoy a family farm experience with animal involvement, a quiet place to relax or great in-between travel spots. Pets are not allowed as this is a working farm. You may also find us online at Blown Away Ranch.

Guest access
Guests will have an entire home to themselves with a fenced yard. The Hen House does connect with our home and we are available for anything you might need. You may walk down and see animals, take a stroll under the wind towers or just sip your coffee on the porch and listen to the birds sing. A very peaceful place- when our boys aren’t playing football in the yard.

Other things to note
We have just installed a flat screen TV and guests now have access to high-speed internet. Lots of places to walk, be around farm animals, play in fenced yard and sit on the porch. The chickens are just outside the back door. Collect your breakfast eggs!

Neighborhood highlights

We aren’t close to anything. 57 miles to a grocery store, but only 14 miles off the interstate all on paved county roads! This is a place you plan to come to. Not to worry, there is still cell phone service once you reach The Hen House. There are a few little restaurants in the neighboring towns of Ione and Arlington, a 15 minute drive to either. We suggest bringing your ingredients.

I am a 5th generation farmer, working hard to pass on our family farm to my three sons. All four of my younger brothers are farmers too and together, with my farmer husband Deacon, we are are diligently working to be sustainable and do the right thing everytime. I also teach MS/HS ag and shop, am part of an all-ladies motorcycle club, love to cook and garden and coach basketball, FFA and shooting sports in my spare time. I pride myself on my work ethic and raising capable boys who know how to iron, cook, vaccum, drive any equipment, work livestock, tie a solid knot and be a respectful world traveler while being attentive to their grandparents next door.
