The trailer is closing for booking after October 6th. If you don't find the dates you want for the trailer look for our studio apartment on AirBnB, it's located on the same property, nestled in the Lost River Valley at the base of Mt. McCaleb, in the heart of ranch land and wilderness, our queen bed trailer sleeps up to 4 people. No small children at this time please due to safety issues.

The space
What makes our space unique is the giant sky and green valley located between austere mountains and sage brush fields. Our home site views right down the valley to the sunset that is always a great show.

Our rate this summer is $65 per night. No small children. Age 8 and up are OK.

We can comfortably sleep 2 in the travel trailer on a queen size bed at this time. We have a dining table that folds down and a sofa that opens that are suitable for children or small adults with a total of up to 4 people for the trailer. We cannot accept children under 8 at this time because the main house is still under construction, although almost finished. In the future we will welcome children but not right now. Dogs must be kenneled and or clean when entering the RV.

Please note that Mackay is at 6,000 foot elevation. Summer evenings and nights can be chilly, sometimes going down to 45 degrees so be prepared with warm clothing. There is no air-conditioning available.

Guest access
You can walk anywhere on our 8 acres. We have room for trailers you might be towing. There are two entrances to the property which makes for an easy pull though. The road is hard packed dirt and the driveway is gravel. You will have no difficulty no matter what type of vehicle you drive.

Other things to note
The travel trailer offers a complete kitchen with a fridge, oven, gas cook top, sink and all the things you need to cook. It has a full bath but the shower room in the house is also available for use.
As typical for trailers, the water heater is small, at 6 gallons, so showers are short, so please space your showers accordingly, but remember, a shower is available in the house so please ask if you need it The trailer features large windows in the back with two rocking chairs where you can watch dramatic skycaps, the cattle when they come by, deer, antelope and on special occasion, giant jack rabbits, maybe even a wolf or two, all within a mile of town.

The toilet in the camper is a camper standard. Much better than an outhouse but not perfect. Sometime you have to add extra water to get everything down properly. I keep a cup in the bathroom for that problem. We change the seal on the toilet frequently but sometime it just doesn't hold water the way a regular toilet does. When the seal doesn't hold perfectly it gets to leaking down the pipe but the leaks slow so just adding water does it. If you are very prim and proper this may not be the best stay for you. Most people seem to glide right though it.

Location

Mackay, Idaho, United States

Mackay area is in close approximation to lots of spectacular wilderness, fishing, hunting, boating, mountain biking, hot springs and many scenic ATV trails. Sun Valley is about an hour and a half away during the summer when the scenic mountain pass to get there is open. Its a wonderful drive. Copper Basin is known for its high altitude beauty and world class fishing. We are surrounded by BLM and national forests. The tallest mountain in the state, Mt. Borah at 12,662 feet, is 20 miles down the road and receives about 200 visitors daily in the summer for hiking and summit climbs. Great fishing is found on the Big Lost River only about 1.5 miles away as well as the Mackay Reservoir at 5 miles away. Restaurants are available in Mackay.

The city of Mackay offers a Farmer's Market every Saturday from 10am to 1pm, an old fashioned 4th of July parade, and a Beer Fest on the same day at Tourist Park, and the Mackay Barbecue (free to all) in September. Visit the Mackay City website for more details. The ATV rally is mid July and it had a fantastic turn out last year. Our high mountains are spectacular with many ATV trails. (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN) search Rally in The Pines, Mackay Idaho for more information.

I am a retired nurse and my husband is a retired architect. John is building our country home here in Mackay. We love to travel and do so in the winter to either Mexico or Southern Arizona, visiting national and state parks, cities, art galleries and just plan boon docking where we can. We have a 26 foot Wilderness trailer that we travel with but offer it as bed and breakfast in the summer here in Mackay. along with a studio apartment with a fantastic view. We know what its like to travel and love to meet people who enjoy traveling also, sharing experiences and places to go. We have traveled as far as Costa Rica and Belize and even drove to Guatemala with two small children with a cab over camper. We have several organic gardens and I am the president of the local farmer's market where I sell some of our produce. We also love to paint. John does acrylic landscapes and I do pastels. Soon we will open a studio B&B suite on the second floor offering spectacular views of the mountains to complete our bed and breakfast retreat. We will also have a small gallery that features local artists. Our dream is to create a hobby farm and are planning for chickens, a couple head of cattle and maybe a pigs. Although we are still in the early stages we have made a small pasture that irrigates from two ponds that make a nice scenic feature on our property which is nestled between mountains and looks down a dramatic valley with spectacular sunsets.
