The space

The apartment comfortably sleeps 3, with a queen bedroom and a twin bed/ daybed in a nook off the living room. It has a full kitchen, dining area, laundry room, private entrance and its' own parking space. It is quiet and serene, with woodland views from every window and an outdoor seating area with chairs.

The location of this apartment couldn't be more ideal. It is a minute from the main thoroughfare Sir Francis Drake, two minutes from charming downtown Kentfield, 5 minutes from the highway, twenty minutes from the Golden Gate Bridge, 30 minutes from San Francisco and 40 minutes from wine country. It is in the prettiest part of one of the most beautiful counties in the country - Marin - and close to everything. But here's the kicker: it feels totally removed, with no traffic noise and total privacy. A secret oasis!

Guest access

The in-law, its' outdoor area, one parking space and the path between. Guests may use the common lawn occasionally.

Interaction with guests

Owners will usually be present on the property, and available for questions and issues. We request that most communications be through text or phone for privacy reasons.

The neighborhood

Kentfield is a sweet little town in central Marin, one of a string of such towns along the Ross Valley. This cluster of towns have a charm of their own: small-town feel, fantastic year-round weather, great food, outdoorsy lifestyle, cosmopolitan but down-to-earth.

Kentfield town center has a couple of very good places to eat within walking distance: an excellent brunch place (Half-Day Cafe), a good all-around restaurant (Woodland Cafe), and the best gourmet grocery store and deli in Marin (Woodland Market). It also has a bank, florist, post office etc.

In the hills behind Kentfield, a 10-minute drive, is some excellent hiking/ mountain biking. There are also paved bike paths that run though town center and continue the length of Marin.

Getting around

There are bus stops nearby, but it's best if guests have a car. Parking for one car is included in the rental.

Other things to note

Guests should note that the apartment is at the bottom of a long flight of rather rough, rustic outdoor stairs. Those with limited mobility might not find this unit a match.

Please also note that this is a ground floor unit in a family home. As such guests should expect there to be some level of upstairs noise - footsteps, voices, etc. Most guests are fine with this, but extremely noise-sensitive folks might not find this unit a match.

House Rules
House Rules
No smoking
Not suitable for pets
No parties or events
Check-in is after 3PM

No loud TV, music or other noise after 10pm at night. This is a family home and a quiet neighborhood.

Unit comes with ONE parking space. Do not plan to park more than one car on the property, even for a short time - you'll be taking someone's space. Street parking is very limited.

Max. 3 sleeping at the unit, 6 total day visitors.

Use of the property is constrained to the guest unit, the patio just outside it, guest parking and the path between it. Guests may occasionally use the common lawn.

Guests that wish to get in touch with owners or property managers will generally do so via phone, text or email for privacy reasons.

Damage almost never happens due to our awesome guests, but just in case: Guests are responsible for any damage to the unit and its furnishings during the rental period, beyond reasonable wear and tear. This includes stains and damage to rugs and furnishings, and repair of fixtures and appliances damaged due to guests misuse (for example, a clogged disposal).

Guests that are asked to reduce noise levels more than once and fail to comply to owners' satisfaction will be asked to leave with no refund. (This has never happened, but this is our family home so we need this in case of parties...)

NOTE: This is a ground-floor unit in a family home, and hence will likely have some footstep noise, muffled voices etc. from above. Most guests have no issues with this, but potential guests should expect some upstairs noise. Extremely noise-sensitive people might not find this unit a match.

I am a native of Marin, and love everything about it! Hiking, beach barbecues on Muir Beach, Mountain Home Theater, burritos in the Mission, Fairfax Scoop, wine tasting in Napa... the list goes on and on.

I love Marin even more as I took a long detour from it. Our three children were born and raised in NYC, and I persuaded the family back here just last August of 2013. Quite the change, brownstone Brooklyn to nature-filled Marin! We love both but are so happy to have landed here.

I am an architect, an artist, and a stay-at-home Mom. I love yoga, hiking, hanging with the family, reading on the porch, and dinner with friends. Things I can't live without? I Love Lucy, girlfriend time, art, quiet, chocolate, my family. I'd love to see Morocco someday. I love independent films. My husband Sandy is a professional banjo player and teacher. We are a relaxed, creative family.

My motto? I guess it would be: "Don't sweat the small stuff."
