The Suite is a "work in progress" - and not quite like in the photo above. We were the only ones staying in the property, except for some uninvited bugs, which might make one feel a little nervous.
That being said, the Suite is spacious and if you are traveling in groups who don't mind roughing it this might be just the place you want.
Rumichaca is wonderful - feels very safe and is full of character. The property, even is its needy state, has charm. We slept with the wonderful sound of a water stream that goes through the property and our little one spent a bit of time enjoying the stream and picking Aguaymantos.
We also enjoyed the short morning hike from the house to the road. Just make sure you have a comfortable way of getting back to the place at night. You will have to rely on a car (rented or taxi) or, most likely, moto taxi as the road is not super car-friendly - at least as of now.
The property has tons of potential and we really liked Manolo. He was very nice and accommodating, even when he didn't have to.
We'd like to return in the future.
We spent several wonderful days at Manolo’s house in the Sacred Valley of the Incas in April 2012. The house is close to Urubamba in a wonderful rural neighborhood. It is surrounded by 360° of breathtaking panoramic mountain views. Manolo was a wonderful host. He welcomed us to his home in Cusco and introduced us to indigenous people in the neighborhood, which was a highlight of our trip for our son. The house is a wonderful old adobe. It was rustic, but Manolo had plans to renovate and has likely done so by now.
We explored the length of the Valley between Ollantaytambo and Pisac on public transport. It was easy, with cheap and frequent public buses, which can be hailed down anywhere. Urubamba area has the best pottery we found in Peru. There is one famous potter in town. Two of his former apprentices set up studios on the main road and we liked their work more.
