The Space

This bright and sunny room is in the back of the house, having windows and a balcony facing the East. It has all built in closets and drawers, and overlooks the backyard. It has two doors that lead to two different stairways and exits giving it an added amenity.
The bedroom can be arranged for a double bed, 2 singles, or a king sized bed.
The guests should feel at home. The fully equipped kitchen is open 24/7, with private cupboards and space in a large side by side refrigerator-freezer.
The neighborhood is in Colonia Chapalita, a well maintained neighborhood with 2 parks on either side of the house. If eating out-there are over 20 restaurants of ALL cuisines within walking distance from this property. Shops a plenty-not counting major malls that are plentiful in the West end.
Public transit is inexpensive and runs 24/7, 2 blocks from the house. Our own taxi service can be called as well. Very fast service at the correct rates!
This home is mostly rented by persons that want to see Guadalajara and it's neighboring villages, or for those who need to be in the business hub of Guadalajara and need fast internet and all other office amenities (inclusive of the cost of a room). We tend to have a home that fits the American style of furnishings with a flair of Mexican color, but there is not lots of dusty paper mache dolls all over the place for our housekeeper to dust! All of that is right outside the front gate. We are minutes from the downtown historical district, yet far enough away for a good night's rest.

  • I stayed at the Dickenson Guest House for a month recently and had a great experience. Jim went to great lengths to provide a comfortable environment and his knowledge of the city was invaluable.
This is a great location where I felt very safe as a woman travelling alone. I learned to use the busses with Jim's help and went out exploring every day between business meetings.
I would recommend it for your visit to Guadalajara.

About
Although I was raised in the Pacific Northwest of the United States of America, I consider myself a native of California. After 30 years of working in the high end hospitality business, I moved to Mexico- something planned for a long time. Colonia Chapalita in Guadalajara, Mexico was well thought out years ago.I now have a successful business, opening my large home to travelers from all corners of the world, for business in the heart of that district and for all tourism that is popular in this very historical city. I am very easy going. I want guests to enjoy their stay by making themselves at home. I respect the privacy of all guests, yet am always available for help in any way I can. I have had a good run here in GDL and look forward to the next party of one, two or 8 guests-as I have plenty of room for people to enjoy each other or need the privacy that is offered as well. I must say that as an American, I had to have a very fast internet -WiFi added, along with the amenities so many of us are used too. .I enjoy sharing them with my guests who need these amenities that we often take for granted-to keep in touch with family, and friends at home. We look forward to you visit- up to 8 people! Our presence on the web is everywhere if you choose to look for our website.
