Located in a unique and historic area of the lower east side. This area is home to budding gallery scene, wonderful food/cafe spots--The Fat Radish, Dora Coffee, Katja, Little Giant, Le French Diner, Roasting Plant, 88 Orchard, Babycakes, Barrio Chino--and classic New York City spots--Kossar's Bialys, Donought Plant, Essex Street Market. Orchard/Ludlow Street shopping scene as well and the new Hester Street Fair every weekend (Summer - Fall)
Apartment is conveniently located short 1.5 blocks from the F train and a short 5 min walk to the JMZ line. As well as 1.5 blocks away from both the M9, M14A and M15 bus lines--you can really get anywhere by public transit but everything is easily accessible by foot. I rarely use transport and walk basically everywhere: East Village, SoHo, Little Italy are all 10/15 min walks away; and Williamsburg is a great 25 minute walk across the bridge. Manhattan and Brooklyn Bridge are 10/15 min walk away as well.
This is a true 1 bedroom apartment--separate bedroom from living/dining area; kitchen and bathroom. The apartment has exposed brick walls and cherry wood floors. Naturally light all day long from the windows. View of Manhattan bridge from the living/dining room window. Rooftop access provides nice view of City Hall/Downtown Manhattan.
Price includes all utilities (air conditioning and fan provided) and wifi for 1 to 2 people. Towels, sheets, blankets provided. The bedroom has a queen size bed for 1-2; living room and/or bedroom accommodates an air mattress. I prefer max occupancy of 3, price is different for parties of 3 or more.
There is an ionic hairdryer and heated curlers in the bathroom. Feel free to the shampoo and soaps that are around if you forget yours. I provide towels and linens.
This is a walk-up, as most historic/older LES buildings. I don't have television but I do have a fairly extensive record collection. Grab some wine, plop on the rug in the living room after your city explorations to some good tunes.
Only change from photos is addition of a couch in the living room. There's also an external monitor you can plug into a computer to stream content.
We don't interact much with guests as we're usually traveling. We're available by email or phone to answer any questions as they may arise—to date we haven't had much.
Check-out is usually not fixed, unless we have other guests arriving.
We're one block away from the F train; 10-15 minutes walk to the D on Grand or NRQW6 on Canal.
Lots of buses, too. M15 express at Allen and Grand is 5 min walk; M14A and M9 are under 5 minutes away.
If you like walking, you can easily get anywhere downtown (below 14th street).
Apartment is in a walkup. If you don't like stairs, we don't recommend you stay here, regardless of how much you may like it :)
This was my first Air BnB experience. I stayed at Claudina's apartment for 10 days in Feb '14 w/my girlfriend. It was perfect for us. The location is fantastic. It is extremely central if you are driving or taking public transportation. The F train is less than 2 blocks away and the Manhattan Bridge is just down the road. It took us about 20 mins by train to get to Times Square, just to give you an idea. As a native New Yorker, I knew we didn't want to stay in a super bustling neighborhood. We were looking for relative piece and quiet. So this location worked well for us.
The apartment itself was perfect as well. Nice and cozy. Great heating, good hot water and good water pressure. The wifi was great as well which was one of the most important things for us when booking. As you can see from the pictures Claudina's apartment has a lot of personality and character to it which we loved. It really felt like home for the 10 days we were there.
Just fair warning, the apartment is on the 6th floor with no elevator. We didn't mind the walk at all. It's not as bad as it sounds. So don't let that dissuade you from staying here.
Claudina was extremely professional and helpful. She even set up her record player/music system for us before she left. Much appreciated. We couldn't have asked for a better host for our first BNB experience.
I would highly recommend Claudina's apartment to anyone looking for a quant centrally located place to stay in a safe neighborhood in NYC.
Thank you Claudina for a wonderful stay.
The location is pretty good. Near some great cheap food. I think this place puts you in the better areas of manhattan.
The hosts accommodated me at the last minute and allowed me to extend the stay.
The place is decorated in a very warm and eclectic way. I didn't get to try out the record player, which I wish I had the stick-to-it-iveness to try and get working. Going out was a greater focus of my trip.
The bedroom is simple and comfortable with space to put clothes and other things. The bed is better than any hotel bed I've ever slept on. The bathroom and kitchen are the same - simple and nice.
Gripes: I'm a bug guy and 5 flights of steeper than usual stairs suck -- seems normal in the city though. The kitchen table is right up against a step down when coming out of the bathroom, which was annoying to navigate.
None of those were a big deal. In fact I think the exercise coming up the stairs helped negate some of the fatty foods I consumed.
Really enjoyed my stay in Claudina's apartment in LES. Its on a quiet street in a very nice neighbourhood. Lots of deli's and a nice bar called Eastwood all very close.
Meeting Claudina for the keys with very straightforward and she communicated well. Very friendly host and would stay happily stay there again next time I visit NY. The appartment is exactly whats shown on the pictures, very quirky and clean. Also a great vinyl collection which was cool too.
This was such a cute spot and exactly like the pictures! It's a great location and Claudina was very responsive. I will definitely see if this place is available for my next visit I highly recommend it!
Our stay was quite unfortunate, the apartment was dirty and there were cockroaches in the kitchen.
fortunately as soon as we complained, we were refunded for the cleaning fee and the nights we didn't spend in the apartment, but we ended up spending money both on eating out every day (the kitchen was dirty) and on a hotel room, spending much more above planned.
Seeing such lovely '(website hidden) verified' photos we booked the place in a heartbeat, unfortunately the place did not look as it does in the photos.
It is a shame, it looks like the girls have good taste, and Claudina was very nice, its just a shame they were so careless about the state it was in.

We had a great time at Claudina's place! She welcomed us downstairs and walked us up into her beautiful and soooo cool appartment in wich sunny music was playing thanks to her awesome vintage collection of vinyls!
From the super comfy bed, the original posters and art work on the walls, all the way to the 70's playboys in the toilet, we loved every inch of the place (only read the articles of course :) ).
The neighborhood is quiet and close to everything we needed. It was almost heartbreaking to leave since we felt so at home after those few days.
Thanks for a memorable Easter in NY Claudina!

Fidèle aux photos, l'appartement est typiquement newyorkais, il est bien situé, proche du métro.
Un bémol les 88 marches à monter !
