Located within walking distance to charming Downtown Denison, this beautifully appointed bungalow is perfect for a weekend or extended stay. Only a short drive from both Lake Texoma and Eisenhower State Park.

The space
The Gandy Dancer Guest House pays homage to Denison's long history as a railroad town which was founded in 1872, and was the first stop for the KATY railroad as it crossed the Red River into Texas.

The name Gandy Dancer is attributed to the laborers who worked on the railroad removing rails for repair. This tool became known at a "gandy", and in order to work in unison the laborers would callout syncopated cadences. Thus, with their simultaneous movements they became know as Gandy Dancers.

This quaint 1930's Craftsman house has been completely refurbished and can comfortably accommodate a group of seven. The living room has a new sleeper sofa with a memory foam mattress and comfortable chairs for relaxing or watching TV. Children or one adult will be very comfortable on the sleeper sofa. Free WiFi is included, as is a desk if you absolutely have to work. Large flat screen TVs are located in the main bedrooms as well as the living room.

Comfortable queen-size mattresses and luxurious bed linens make the two bedrooms welcome retreats. Plenty of soft, thick towels and other amenities equip the two bathrooms that have tub/shower combinations. The sunroom/third bedroom has a comfortable daybed which is perfect for sleeping or curling up with a good book. Whether you are having a cup of tea or hosting Thanksgiving dinner, you will find everything in the kitchen you need. The dining room sports two tables and can accommodate 8 people. A full size washer and dryer are tucked away in a closet for guest use.

The large backyard is equipped with a gas grill, a patio table, and outdoor chairs. All are available for cook-outs or just lounging and enjoying the day under a canopy of mature trees. A covered pavilion in the backyard is suitable for parking your car or enjoying a bar-b-que.

You won't find more comfortable and inviting accommodations than the Gandy Dancer Guest House.

Linda and Valerie met in 1986 when their sons were in the fourth grade at Mayes Elementary School in Denison. That year the two boys became best friends, as did their mothers. Collaborating and decorating for Cub Scouts and school activities soon led to other creative endeavors for Linda and Valerie. It wasn't long until the results of their creative collaborations were noticed and they were soon asked to decorate and host various community and church events. They have decorated everything from Blue and Gold Banquets to receptions for foreign dignitaries with the Sister Cities Program. Before opening their AirBnB, Linda and Valerie took on the task of window decorating in buildings in downtown Denison. Their creations showcased local events such as the Saints and Sinners Festival, Music on Main and the Fall Festival. Their eye catching designs, such as a six-foot Doc Holliday, delighted shoppers on Main Street. Both Linda and Valerie have enjoyed staying in AirBnB's with their families, and the idea of hosting was a natural outlet for their love of southern hospitality and decorating. When they found their 1930's Craftsman house, they found their passion. The house became a labor of love as the two shopped for and found just the right appointments for the house. Their discerning eye for detail is evident throughout the property, and can be enjoyed by all guests who stay at the Gandy Dancer Guest House.
