Peaceful Home in the Santa Cruz Mountains, in Bonny Doon.
Remote, simple accommodation for nature lovers, near a beautiful redwood forest. Eco-friendly, safe and inclusive home.

The space

The beauty of the Santa Cruz mountains awaits you! My home is situated exceptionally well, balancing accessibility with seclusion. Ten minutes to Felton's quaint main street, fifteen minutes to the beach, twenty minutes to downtown Santa Cruz, ninety minutes to San Francisco up scenic Highway 1. But when you are sipping tea or a beer on the porch, you'll hear nothing but the hummingbirds and the wind in the trees.

I have three bedrooms for Airbnb in my home. This listing is for one of the rooms - check my other listings if you have a larger party and would like to rent the other room as well, or if you need other dates available.

This room has a large, comfortable king sized bed with European-style goose down duvet and electric bed warmers for cold mountain nights.

There is a large bathroom downstairs for your use, shared among the Airbnb bedrooms and stocked with shampoo and other toiletries. There's a large fridge and a coffee and tea bar, but there is NO KITCHEN. I usually have sparkling water and half-half in the fridge, and chocolates/snacks for you.

The bedrooms are downstairs, while my bedroom and main living area are upstairs. The upstairs is private, and there is no kitchen access for guests.

Average-speed DSL wireless access throughout the house. Parking is not a problem. We are in the mountains and the drive can be difficult if you are not used to steep, narrow winding roads! It's dark at night and GPS doesn't always work accurately.

Cashmere, the grey cat, spends the majority of his time lounging and prowling outside, and he greets every guest. He will occasionally hang out by the hot tub.

I am always trying to make my lifestyle more sustainable, and installed solar panels in 2013. The house is now 100% solar powered. In the winter I use a wood stove that burns what I've cleared from the land. I also line-dry the sheets, compost, and recycle. Bug catching spiders are my friends, and I gently relocate them away from the bedrooms. Great tasting water from a well. Pure mountain water!

This is a rustic accommodation, in a uniquely beautiful piece of paradise.

Guest access

Interaction with guests

I will try to adapt my schedule to be able to greet you when you arrive.

I have lived in many countries and locales, but Bonny Doon is my favorite place on this whole planet, and I'd happily share with you my passion for nature and for the Santa Cruz mountains.

I host with Airbnb for the joy of it, because I love meeting interesting people and sharing my beautiful land with appreciative guests. In return, I expect guests to be self sufficient and easy going. This is not a fancy place, treat it like if you were staying at a friend's or family member.

Other things to note

I offer a lower price for solo travelers, because I myself often travel solo. I charge extra for the second or third guests.

I also charge a single cleaning fee for each stay, and I charge a bit more for weekend stays.

Please note that I'm not downtown Santa Cruz. This accommodation is for people who enjoy the serenity of nature and who prefer to sleep in a calm quiet countryside setting, up in the mountains. I hope you love nature and simplicity. If you are afraid of little spiders or bugs or a bit of dust, then this is not the right place for you.

The super-comfy king size bed is large enough to accommodate 2 adults and a child, but three adults can be a stretch! Please check with me if you plan on bringing a young child, as the rooms are right next to each other and I want all my guests to have a quiet relaxing time.

Pascal's place was really lovely. The house is cozy, and on a beautiful property with fruit tree's, nature, and a nice hot tub. Our room was very clean, the bed was a very comfortable king size bed. We felt very at home. Best of all was hanging out with Pascal, who is a very welcoming and warm hearted person. This is a really special place and my wife and I look forward to returning.

Cool place to stay in the Santa Cruz area. The hot tub was enjoyable at night. (Would be better with some light.) Pascal provided light snacks and coffee in the hallway near the bedrooms. When we first met we talked for a bit then he left us to our one night getaway. There was other people staying in the other rooms of the house. We ended up meeting some new friends and staying in a cool location. Overall, great air bnb.

Pascal is a great host and his place is quiet and economical. Pretty drive (way) up the hill from the college. Such a cool spot.

Very nice place. It feels remote, yet isn't too far from the city. Poor cell service though, making it hard to get to.
