About this listing
A cosy, comfortable cottage located in the heart of Ireland's famous Causeway Coast. With stunning views of both the Glens of Antrim and the famous Antrim coastline.
Fully equipped. Sleeps 4 adults, with a further bed suitable for children under 12.
The Cottage is two storey, with the front door opening onto a small landing with a half flight of steps up to the main open plan living area, and a half flight of steps down to the bedrooms and bathroom.
The main living area contains two sofas, tv, dvd, electric flame effect fire, and fully equipped kitchen with table and seating for 4-6 (two fold up seats). Kitchen contains electric oven, hob, extractor fan, microwave, toaster and kettle. And has full complement of crockery, glassware and cutlery. A selection of books, games, toys and DVDs are available for guests use.
Patio doors lead out onto a balcony with views over the small private garden with picnic table and BBQ.
The cottage lower level has one bedroom with twin beds, and a bedroom with double bed and walk-in wardrobe. The double bedroom has a patio door with access to the private garden.
A bathroom with electric shower over bath, WC, wash hand basin, and shaving point is shared by both bedrooms. A further bed is available under the stairs, which is perfect for younger children, (a little hidey-hole for them). The final room on the lower level is a large walk in cupboard with vacuum cleaner, washing machine and extra storage space.
The cottage is heated throughout by wall-mounted storage heaters. And all heating and hot water is provided as part of the rental fee. As is bed-linen and towels.
The cottage rests within a small development of 15 cottages, developed on the former family farm, and is set in beautiful rolling countryside, an officially designated area of outstanding natural beauty. The cottages are located off a country road that runs between Bushmills and Portrush, which makes them the perfect base for exploring all that the famous Causeway Coast has to offer.
Bushmills Distillery (The home of the World's Oldest Licensed Distillery, and the famous Bushmills Whisky, or 'Bush' as it is affectionately known by Dirty Harry and friends). The town of Bushmills is a 25 minute walk down a country lane, or 3 minute drive, and has a good variety of shops, pubs, restaurants and cafes.
The Giant's Causeway is less than 10 minutes drive away, as is the Royal Portrush Golf Club (frequently rated in the Top Ten Best Golf Course in the World, home to Major Champions Graeme McDowell and Darren Clarke and host of the Irish Open in 2012). Within a 25 minutes drive are a further wealth of championship links courses, including several at Portstewart, Castlerock, and Ballycastle.
Also within 10 minutes drive are several beautiful beaches including the blue flag awarded White Rocks Strand and the pretty seaside town of Portballintrae which has a lovely little bay that's perfect for young children to paddle and hunt in rock pools and a nice nearby hotel with good restaurant and bar.
The lively holiday town of Portrush is just over 10 minutes drive away with its wealth of pubs, restaurants, night-clubs and Barry's Amusement Park.
The provincial University town of Coleraine is 15 minutes drive which has a wide array of shopping, restaurants, cinemas, 10 pin bowling etc. There is also a train and bus station with frequent trains to Belfast and Derry.
The cottage should provide a great level of comfort and functionality for couples, small groups or families looking to explore. But possibly its greatest attribute are its unrivalled views across the Glens of Antrim, Bushmills, the Causeway Coast and on a good day right across the Irish Sea to the coast of Scotland. It is spectacular.
Interaction with Guests
We normally leave a key for guests so they can check themselves in. But I only live 2 minutes away and will call to check our guests have everything they need. I am also available for any issues and am happy to help with advice, suggestions, reservations etc.
We love the rural aspect of the cottage, surrounded by fields and beautiful views. There is an award winning garden centre only half a mile away which has an excellent coffee shop / restaurant and free wifi. The nearest town is Bushmills, which is the Gateway to the Causeway Coast; it's only a 2 minute drive, or a 25 minute walk down a pretty country road.
There is a bus stop less than a mile from the cottage which is serviced by buses travelling from Coleraine.
We spend a lot of time and money making the cottage a comfortable and cosy place to spend some time, please treat it with respect and leave it as you find it.
Unfortunately for the sake of future guests we can't allow pets or smoking within the property.
Most importantly, enjoy yourselves and as much of this fantastic part of the world as you can. We love the area and its friendly people, we're sure you will too.
