Extra spacious

Guests love this home’s spaciousness for a comfortable stay.
Located in the perfect spot to explore the Texas Hill Country, The Lower Haus, makes an ideal home base for adventurous day trips and exploring the country side. Nestled in the historic Methodist Encampment neighborhood in Kerrville, you’re just 5 minutes from the beautiful Guadalupe River and only 25 minutes from the Fredericksburg wine country. Or, just hide away and enjoy a quite weekend. Wander through the charming neighborhood to the top of Mt. Wesley and catch a breathtaking sunset.

The space
The Lower Haus, is perfect for a romantic weekend getaway for 2, with a comfy queen size bed, a windowed loft to read or sip coffee, and a patio with a wood fire pit. If you decide to eat in, the space has a full kitchen with everything you’ll need to cook and enjoy any type of meal. After dinner, hang out in the colorful living space, catch a movie on Netflix, catch up on your social media or light the fire pit and enjoy an evening on the patio.

If you plan on staying a little longer, the space has a full-size washer and dryer and a spacious closet, too.

Kids are welcome and we can provide air mattresses if needed. The space is not really toddler friendly with an open staircase and concrete floors.

Guest access
The Lower Haus is a separate and private studio style home. It has a shaded patio and plenty of parking. We live across the street and use one of the parking spaces as there is very little parking on the narrow neighborhood roads.

Other things to note
If you'd rather head out for the evening, work up an appetite with a walk along the Guadalupe river on our beautiful hiking path, then head to downtown Kerrville and grab a bite one of the great restaurants. After dinner, catch a play at one of the local theaters or stroll around the historic downtown shopping district.

Neighborhood highlights

The Methodist Encampment neighborhood has recently been approved for a Texas Historical Marker. Most of the homes were hand built in the early 1900's as summer cabins for Methodist pastors. Many of the homes have been updated but retain their charm. Over the years, several famous authors and artists have lived in this great little neighborhood. You'll enjoy walking the curvy narrow roads, discovering our little free library and just exploring the neighborhood.

Kristin and I have been married for 23 years and this is our first AirBNB adventure! Originally from California, we moved to Austin in 2010 and to Kerrville in 2018. We love this little town and the beauty it has to offer. The rivers and hills and wildlife make it a wonderful place to live or visit. I have been a competitive cyclist for 35+ years and love the county roads that go on for miles and miles. Kerrville is a cyclists dream and the racing scene just up the road in Austin keeps me motivated and young. Kristin an I love getting out in our VW Vanagon camper and exploring Texas in the spring and fall. We still have many places on our list to visit and we want to experience a lot of AirBNB properties along the way, too. In a previous life, I have traveled all over the world and got the chance to experience many different cultures. I find the people in Texas to be some of the friendliest and most welcoming on the planet. Our little neighborhood, the Methodist Encampment, with all of its history is a gem in itself. What we love about hosting an AirBNB property is that people from all over will get a chance to experience this little slice of heaven and see a side of Texas that would otherwise be hidden. Kristin and I also love meeting great folks who are looking for a fun experience when they travel and not just a sterile hotel room. The AirBNB community is full of fun and adventurous people and we enjoy swapping stories around the fire when ever possible. We hope that your adventures find you in Kerrville soon!
