Quiet cozy country cottage on Big Indian Lake. The cottage is located on an island connected by a causeway. There are 17 other homes on the island. This is a perfect area for fishing, boating, swimming and all water-sports, not to mention the haunting sounds of loons.
The small main house has 1 bedroom, a sleeper sofa and futon and sleeps six people. The bunk house has bunk beds and a sleeper sofa and sleeps 7. The cottage has a full kitchen includes all you would need for dining in. Also included are: cable TV, DVD player, grill, towels, sheets, pillows, etc. Very clean and neat.
As advertised - Wonderful, charming, immaculate. What a peaceful spot. Couldn't have asked for more - and we had fun in the kayaks too!!!
We had a great visit. Kitchen was fully stocked with pots and pans and plenty of dishes. There was a cute basket of towels which was great because I forgot mine! The lake is beautiful and we even took a chilly swim (our visit was in September) and went paddle boating. I would stay again and recommend to a friend. Lovely, cozy place.
As the other reviews had said the pictures do not do this place justice! Spent a night here with my wife on our way up to Canada and we couldnt have enjoyed it more. Located on a tiny island the views were amazing from the back where we spent a while on the swing. The house it self was cozy and very well maintained and decorated. It was a great relaxing stay over after the hectic nature of wedding preparation from the past few days!
Thank you Stephanie for the gorgeous space!!
The location was lovely, however, we prearragned for one member of our party (my mom) to stay during the day, yet were unpleasantly surprised in the late morning when the owner frantically arrived and essentially kicked my mom out, leaving her to pack everything and also meaning that we were unable to leave the place in the condition we arrived in. It turned out that the person who arranges the rental and the owner are two different people who had not been in communication with one another. Stephanie was quite communicative with me (in terms of sending directions, store locations, etc.) so it was frustrating that the owner arrived early and did not treat my mom with very much respect.
I will respond to your allegations-how is it fair that you stay close to an entire day and not pay extra? How is it fair that your animals used our furniture as bedding? How is it fair that you used our guest towels for your doggie wipes? How is it fair that you used our dishes for your doggie bowls by the lake? Your mom stayed in our bunk house which is a very nice place and I carried 3/4 of your stuff out so it was easier on your mom. Putting aside that their may have been a miscommunication-you took advantage and you were totally not respectful of our property with your animals! Stephanie just happens to be our daughter and she was appalled at your lack of respect for our belongings!
We loved staying at the lake house! It's very clean, well-maintained, and decorated with love. The lake and island are beautiful. The lake house has a full kitchen with everything you need to make meals while you're staying there. We hope that we can come back next summer.
What a beautiful home to find ourselves at! We were so thrilled and would recommend it to anybody... especially those who like to play boardgames. :)
Really a beautiful spot. Could not have been a more charming place. Stephanie was great to deal with and would certainly book again.
We went up with our 5 kids and had the most wonderful stay! We went white water rafting up in northern Maine and then spent the rest of the weekend at the cottage. The separate bunk house for the kids was very popular as was the trampoline in the water and the paddle boat! We played in the water and played some board games that we found there. We had an absolute blast! The cottage is clean and adorable and we felt right at home. The sitting room is all windows so it was easy to keep an eye on the kids in the water! We can't wait to go back next summer!
The pictures really don't do it justice. The cabin is adorable and decorated with love and care (and with a very complete kitchen!). The island is tiny and magical one of the most relaxing place I've been. We BBQ'd and swam and read and relaxed, and it was really a perfect weekend.
Hope to come back again!
We just loved staying here. The pictures don't do it justice - the lake house is *really* cute, and incredibly clean. We had a lovely walk around the island and into town, ate a yummy breakfast at a local place in St Albans, and generally enjoyed playing Uno and checkers! Stephanie is quick to respond to any questions. A great stay.
