Beachfront unit with all leisure and business conveniences!
Gaze at the endless Indian Ocean from the comfort of your room, then step out to feel the sand on your feet or sun on your back, or simply people-watch at any of the cafe's lining the beach
Great location. Perfect for business, leisure and healthy living. This is a special hosting suitable for the more mature guest as the building is very conservative with mainly older, reserved tenancy. Exceptionally neat, top floor unit in a secure, restricted-access building on Durban beachfront. Privacy of a fitted bedroom, ample shelving space; stunning daytime beach and promenade views and night city lights; own TV (DSTV at a switch), wifi and multimedia access. Modern fully fitted kitchen for quick breakfasts or snacks; At your doorstep are several cafes and hotel restaurants for dining choices and social/business meetings; Weekly serviced, or on request/as required; Bookings required min. 3 working days in advance; Suits a single, neat and private person, but bookings considered for mature couples for weekend stays; Longer-stay, ie 6mths+, would be at R6500pp/month; Accommodation is subject to the building management security check/vetting policy and approval process
The promenade is a lovely lifestyle & fitness launch-pad - great for strolls, power walks, jogs, beach or pool swimming, cycling and skating - for which you can hire equipment from beach sports shops. Within walking distance is an ice rink, surf clubs, movie theatres, shopping centres, flea markets, laundromat, atm's, places of worship.
Metered taxis a call away; airport transfers pickup and drop off at doorstep; public transport into town a 5min walk away. Tours to take you in-land for excursions, game viewing, cultural experiences, nature immersion & sporting adventure: dolphin watching, hiking, abseiling, skydiving, ocean-safari, shark-cage diving, water skiing, bungee-jumping, etc arranged on a 24hr notice
Interaction with Guests
Some time on the first day, time may be spent on introduction and orientation, establishing itinerary, special needs, firming up plans, identifying specific locations, best mode of transport; securing bookings, pointing out fun spots and perhaps sharing that first cuppa!
For the rest of the stay, the guest determines interaction based on incidental needs or general preference
Nothing beats the Durban golden mile for a complete "taste" of kwaZulu Natal. It draws Durban in its fullest diversity... Sporty ones, funky ones, the laid-back, the young, the young-at-heart, the arty, the nature-lovers, the gazers, the aspirant, the achievers - you name them!
The unit is on the quiet-most part of the beachfront - allowing for residential privacy yet perfect to step out into the vibrancy of beach lifestyle.
I love it here, and like sharing my favourite spots with my guests, while they discover their own favourites!
Metered taxis are a call away; airport transfers pickup and drop off at doorstep; public transport into town and to other Durban suburbs is a 5min walk away.
The beachfront has enough entertainment to keep you fascinated. The promenade stretches over about 5km of eateries, attractions and activities, and you can either walk, cycle, skate or rollerblade
Other Things to Note
Breakfast cereals, hot beverages and fruit/fruit juice will be provided on guest's arrival, any subsequent meals on request. Host will be happy to help guest with pre-arrival personal shopping - for the guest's account.
Security is a key concern in the area, and the Durban municipality keeps a watchful eye all along the beachfront. Building managers however have responsibility to maintain safety and security in individual apartment blocks, hence it's imperative to have advance bookings that allow management to process and approve the stay.
The R200 cleaning fee is a weekly fee. Guests would therefore need to make this manual provision when staying in excess of a week.
The part we like the least... but I guess we just have to do it, so here goes...
It is the goal to keep the place neat and tidy so it can remain welcoming and comfortable, and quick to clean and maintain when weekly service is due.
So, we encourage guests to kindly clean up after themselves, replace tools, equipment or utensils after use and not to remove anything from the unit unless by prior arrangement and host's approval.
The building has its own rules, which we kindly ask the guest to respect, among which are:
No noise in common areas, music to be turned right down by 10pm weekdays and by midnight Friday and Saturday; No non-booked or non-preapproved guests are to stay longer than 10pm in the building, and certainly no overnight stay.
We have great relationships with many of the local establishments, where personal entertaining can be done leisurely whether for one guest or a group. We'll be happy to recommend, depending on the nature/occasion.
Refuse is to be placed outside the door each morning by 7am for collection by building staff.
Stay here and you could give this host their first review!
Worldly. Well-travelled. Curious. Versatile. Easy-going. Very neat and organised.
Besides enjoying "new" destinations like India, China, South America, I still love my winter European visits - obviously with knowledge that I'll always retreat back to sunny South Africa! I've also enjoyed venturing into the rest of Africa - enjoying a totally different feel of tourism and hospitality. More about people, adventure and humanity than architecture, history and shopping :-)
I am said to be a respectful guest, as I am a gracious host. Thoughtful, neat, interactive. Friendly and gregarious but non-intrusive.
I believe in living life to the full, immersing oneself in new experiences, being in the moment, getting to know about the locals and their way of life while sharing who you are with others.
