This is a centrally located, eclectically beautiful modern apartment in a secure gated compound in the leafy Riverside neighborhood. The room for rent is en suite with it's own hot water shower, toilet, small balcony and ample closet space.
Thanks for checking out my listing :)
I have a room for short term stays in a beautiful modern apartment in a secure gated compound in Nairobi's leafy Riverside neighborhood.
It has two en suite bedrooms so I'll have one and you will be renting the other. I think they are the same size but yours is nicer :)
You will have your own hot water shower, toilet, small balcony and ample closet space. The room has two comfortable 3'6 x 6'3" beds so you are welcome to bring a friend at no extra charge if you like.
Food and drink is not included in the price. But worry not, you will also have access to a modern kitchen for your use which includes a cooker, oven, fridge, microwave, coffee maker and toaster.
I travel out of town quite a bit - every other week for about a week - so for the most part it's likely you will have the whole apartment to yourself to enjoy. But should your stay in Nairobi coincide with mine worry not, people say I make a pretty good housemate. I'll arrange to be around to meet you when you first move in to help you get settled in and provide as much info you might need about the apartment, neighborhood and Nairobi in general.
The apartment is truly ideally located; only 2 km from the bustling, hippy and trendy Westlands area full of restaurants, bars and malls, a mere 4.5 km from Nairobi's central business district and only 4 km from up-market and happening Lavington Green. Ask anyone who knows Nairobi and they will confirm that this isn't false advertising, you would find a hard time picking a better spot to pitch camp while you are in our beautiful city.
Security unfortunately has become a major concern in Nairobi but you couldn't feel any safer here. The apartment complex is under 24 hour security surveillance by Radar Security, one of Nairobi's top reputable security firms. The area is also home to a number of foreign embassies and consulates including the Australian, German and Japanese embassies and their residences, which makes for an even safer neighborhood.
Do you have a car? No problem, the space comes with ample secure parking. Do you need access to public transportation? There is a bus stop just a 3 minute walk away. Do you prefer to use cabs? I can arrange for a reliable and trustworthy taxi driver to be a phone call away when needed
Nothing major, just a few:
- Please no smoking in the apartment. Don't panic though, you can always step out on one of the the balconies and enjoy the cool breeze as you puff away :)
- No Parties
- Please be mindful of the neighbors by keeping noise levels down, they are really cool people
- There is a KES 1,600 fee for lost keys
- No shoes in the apartment, house slippers will be provided to keep it clean
- No pets. I looove animals but unfortunately the apartment just isn't pet friendly :(
- And one last thing, please treat the apartment as you would your own. I love it and it's my only one :)
I hope you do pick to stay here and I look forward to hopefully meeting and hosting you
Me and my boyfriend had a long stay at Martins place and we couldn't be happier with our visit. The apartment felt like a home at once, it's very clean, cosy and nicely furnished. The location in riverside is nice, it's close to areas such as Westlands and the neighborhood is safe. And Martin is such a nice host, so welcoming, helpful and friendly! The only thing you need to remember is earplugs at night if you're a light sleeper since there are some guard dogs in the neighborhood that likes to compete in barking some nights. :)
But to sum it up, if you're looking for a place to stay in Nairobi we strongly recommend you to stay with Martin.
I cannot recommend Martin's place enough. Nice and secure, in a quiet neighborhood, it is even nicer than it looks in the photos. Beds are comfortable, and the kitchen is very well equipped if you want to cook for yourself. Martin himself is an excellent host, and was equally happy to let my do my own thing or keep me company. Fabulous hot shower is certainly a highlight! I will definitely be staying again when I return to Nairobi!
I couldn't recommend both Martin's place and Martin as a host more highly.
I stayed with Martin during my final week of a 2.5 month business trip across Nigeria, Tanzania, and Kenya. After having stayed in hotels for this long period of time, I was looking for somewhere a little more "personal" without compromising my private space. I chose this place because of the positive reviews I had read on AirBNB and its proximity to my office in Westlands. The neighborhood and apartment complex were beautiful, clean, and secure. The unit had a very comfortable private bedroom and bathroom and huge kitchen/living room/balcony area -- perfect for buying a few food supplies to enjoy during your stay. I also really enjoyed the TV corner and balcony seating. Living in NYC, I have been feeling a lot of apartment envy since my return from this place!
Martin and his girlfriend Melissa also made excellent company. They were very generous, offering me soup, juice, rice, eggs when they certainly didn't need to, engaging in great conversations about Obama and Kenya during his visit, helping me to find a taxi to get around, and also allowing me to do my own thing.
I would definitely stay with Martin again if given the opportunity.
I can't recommend Martin and his place more. A great apartment and just as it was described. Martin was welcoming, fun and it felt like I was staying with a friend. Choose Martin's place!
Martin was a spectacular host. His place looked even better in person that in does in the photos. It sits on a quite street that is a not-too-far walk or a 2 minute car ride from the heart of Westlands. The showers were hot, the Wifi was super-fast and the kitchen was stocked with all the appliances and utensils you would need.
When I booked, Martin says that people often say he would make a great roommate and I 100% agree. Martin struck the perfect balance of giving good advice and being extremely friendly while also giving me personal space. I have already suggested this place to friends who plan to come to Nairobi in the future.
This was the second time I stayed at Martin's Place. Martin was again a very friendly and helpful host. His apartment is conveniently located and very comfortable. I very highly recommend staying with him. I'll certainly be staying there when I return to Nairobi.
Martin has a sharp, comfortable apartment in a convenient and secure area in Nairobi. Best of all, Martin is a very knowledgeable, kind, welcoming host. I highly recommend Martin's place. I've used AirBnB in many countries on four continents, all of which were great experiences, but staying with Martin has been my best experience yet.
