Interaction with Guests
We are a married couple (passionate travelers and old timer vehicle collectors*) living at Palic all our life. Real locals, who can give you great advices when it comes to local cousine and various touristic attractions worth to visit!
If you feel like exploring, we can show you directions to some nice places around Palic, and Subotica, or you can just relax at our home and enjoy the garden and the swimming pool.
Quiet neighbourhood, yet easy access to both Palic and Subotica.
The house is located 20 minutes walk from the Palic lake, and 15 minutes walk from the ZOO (which is a must see!).
Shop, bakery, pizzeria, bar and a swimming pool are very close, 5min walk from the house. Bus stations are right in front of the house, and Subotica can be reached in 20 minutes by bus, or 8 minutes by taxi. (taxis are cheap in Serbia, and a ride to Subotica would cost you cca 4 euros)
Other Things to Note
Please note that we have a small dog living with us. He is very friendly, but he has no access to your rooms. We do not accept guest dogs/cats, however small pets are welcome!
The only house rule is that you should leave things the way you have found them on your arrival....
Smoking is not allowed in the house, but you can smoke outside or on the terrace.
We were staying just for the weekend in Subotica, but it was surprisingly amazing and pleasant - more than we expected! Ilona and Tomica were so hospitable, warm and open. We enjoyed both their company and home, since the house is unique - wide and cosy, full of interesting antiques, plants, precious details. It was obvious that the house was built and design with lot of taste and love.
Our kids (8 and 9 years old) loved it too! So much that they were telling the stories (about the oldmobiles, collection of dolls and old clocks and especially about the lovely dog - Iskra) to their friends when they got back to school. We would recommend both hosts and house to parents with kids - we guarantee that they both will fully enjoy this inspiring and lovely place.
We are travelling a lot, but this is definitelly one of the most inspiring places we've ever seen!
We felt like part of the family. Out host were outgoing, warm, lovely people who made us feel very welcome. They went over and above what we expected. I was there searching for information about my family and they introduced me to people in the community, took us around and included us in what they were doing. It was an extraordinary experience.
The house and neighborhood were lovely, but very difficult to find. Once we did, getting around by car was easy.
We came to Subotica just one day and chose this house for staying. When we saw it we were really impressed - it's amazing! House is pretty big and has absolutly everything for rest and enjoying time! We couldn't imagine better conditions. Even pictures can't show all beauty of this place - in real it's much more better. From the first moment we stepped in Tom was extremely kind and hospitable to us. Weather wasn't for us but Tom and his friend made our evening very interesting and unforgetable. We were upset to stay so little. Next time we go for longer time for sure. Higly highly recommended!
I had another stay with Tom and Ilona, it was perfect like the last time and I would recommend everyone who is visiting Palic or Subotica to stay at their place.
Tom and Ilona are now my home away from home! I couldn't have been more cared for than by my own mother/father/sister. They are most humble and accommodating to your every need! And Ilona's cooking is out of this world! Everyone needs to stay with them at least once! Bus stop to city and train is right in front of their house too. I will definitely be back just to see them!
The house is truly unique and really cosy just as it is said in the description. If we did stay there for more than just one night (we've been to Subotica for just a weekend), we'd be sure to spend a lot more time in the room itself: the atmosphere suggests a lot of reading or writing, relaxing or working — anything you like. Plus it has a balcony.
The hosts were very nice and helping! Just as we arrived we got a taste of freshly baked buns and were asked if we wanted to drink some rakija;)
The house is well situated on the road from Palic to Subotica, just 300 metres from the lake and Palic town's centre. Subotica's main attractions are 5 minutes drive by car. I would recommend it to anyone, especially the artists.
Another great time with Tom and Ilona. They made me feel right at home like one of the family. Strongly suggest everyone to stay with them.
