About this listing
Beautiful 1940s house in a residential area of Hollywood. A mile south of Sunset Blvd, a 20 min walk to the heart of Hollywood, a five min cab ride. 2 bedrooms/1 bath, kitchen, living room, balcony, garage, laundry.
Congrats on your trip to LA! It is a beautiful city that does not get the recognition it deserves for culture, arts, food, music, etc. I'm so excited to share it with you.
My house is a vintage classic, built in the 1940s, small, quaint, wood floors, bright colored walls. I have one bedroom to rent, but also a couch in the living room, so should you have a third person, that's totally fine. My house sits above a garage and off the street, so it's less noisy and exposed. It's in a great location - in Hollywood, but a stone's throw from West Hollywood, Melrose, Hancock Park and Los Feliz, walking distance to Paramount Studios and you can see the Hollywood sign from my driveway.
Also on the premises: my two sweet, adorable cats, Bo and Bruges. Their litter box is outside so the house does not smell AT ALL, and they usually keep to themselves.
Free wifi, flatscreen tv streaming netflix/hulu, street parking, laundry, kitchen, fridge.
Interaction with Guests
I am more than willing to give help/advice/directions if needed, and would love to chat with guests and get to know them, but I'm also down to give you privacy as well, if that's what you need.
My kitchen is a great little space and I'm four blocks from a grocery store so you're more than welcome to cook your own food!
My neighborhood is ideal. Safe, friendly, lots of character, less noise and bustle but you are so close to Hollywood/Melrose/Larchmont/Los Feliz that it's easy to get around, especially if you have a car. Walking to Hollywood/Melrose/Larchmont is pretty easy (mile or less), most other places you would have to cab it or uber (which I would recommend, super cheap.)
I'm four blocks from a grocery store, CVS, gas station, convenience store and tons of little restaurants (mostly Thai, Peruvian, Mexican) and coffee shops.
My house is off Melrose - a trendy/artsy little street known for its shopping/dining. A ten minute walk west from my house will land you right in the thick of the shops and restaurants.
A 20 min walk/5 min cab ride will land you on Sunset/Hollywood Blvd - I would recommend checking out Amoeba, it's the largest independently owned record store in the world.
Also on Sunset/Hollywood: Kodak theatre, walk of fame (stars on sidewalk), CNN building, Madame Tussauds, Hwood/Highland mall and attractions.
Getting around in LA is tricky. The buses can be accessible if you know where you are going, but we aren't known for our public transit unfortunately. You can look up exact bus routes/destinations on the metro website (you just type in your address and the address of your destination and it will give you an exact route and times) but I would recommend walking or uber-ing if you can. The metro station on hwood and vine is close enough to walk but only if you're down to walk a few miles. If you are tho - it takes you straight to downtown, a 10 min subway ride. There's also a bus that takes you straight to Santa Monica, the only problem is it's a pretty long bus ride - about an hour, depending on traffic.
Other Things to Note
I love my house and I love where I live. LA (email hidden) that does not get the recognition it deserves for culture, arts, food, etc. While I will be out of town for the time being, I'm only a text/phone call away and would have no problem giving advice/recommendations.
No smoking inside (can smoke on balcony tho, very accessible.) Please be as clean as you can. Make sure to lock doors when you come and go. NO parking in driveway. Be respectful of my neighbors. No parties.
Katie was the perfect host! She is a lovely and helpful person. Her house is very well located, close to public transport. We really enjoyed our 7 weeks at her home. We had our intimacy. If you like animals, the cats of the house are adorable! We will not hesitate to come back at her home to our next trip! Thank you Katie!
Yes the hostess made us feel welcome. She was courteous and helpful and made us feel at home.
The identification of the address was not difficult and she had left very clear instructions of the location well in advance on e mail.
The neighborhood was very good and we felt quite safe during our stay. The parking of car too although not in the premises but was not too far from the apartment.
Over all our stay with the hostess was enjoyable.
Katie was really Nice and helpfull. Her appartement is clean and spacious. It s location is perfect in Hollywood. I strongly recommand this airbnb
Great location and a great host! Katie was very friendly and accommodating. Her home is minutes from the Sunset Strip and a block or so from public transportation. If you want to prepare your own meals, her home also has a full kitchen and there's a grocery store minutes away. This was a great find, and I would definitely stay again! Quick tip; Read the parking signs carefully. There is plenty of free street parking but if you're not careful you WILL get a parking ticket.
If you're going to LA stay with Katie!! We stayed in her apartment for 8 nights and definitely would again the next time we're in LA. Katie was so helpful and friendly so we felt really welcome in her place. The area was perfect for us! Walking distance from Hollywood and just round the corner from Melrose Ave where there's lots of lovely cafes and shops. Katie left bus timetables and tourist info in our room along with towels and shampoo! The apartment looks exactly like the pictures (if not even nicer!). And to top it off her 2 cats are so cute! Thanks again Katie! :)
Excellent location if you are looking to do the tourist things like Hollywood Boulevard (walk of fame), Beverly Hills, Hollywood sign, Melrose etc. walking distance to Hollywood approx 15 mins and uber prices around the area were all under $5. Highly recommend uber if you don't have a car. Katie is a lovely host and her home is welcoming and has everything a traveler might need. Also has good tips on places to check out nearby. If you aren't a cat/animal lover or are allergic to cats this might not be the place for you. Thanks for a great stay Katie!
It was great staying at Katie's. She had made all the arrangements before we reached. She was very nice to talk to and she gave us the privacy we needed. Check-in and check-out were super easy. Katie was very responsive to my texts.
Also, the location is nice, pretty close to Hollywood. Parking is also easy to find in the area. The pictures in the post are accurate. And the house was clean.
I would mention that Katie's house is a bit old. So if you are expecting a newly built house with lavish furniture and fancy appliances, you will be disappointed. For us, it didn't matter though. I definitely recommend Katie's place overall.
About the Host, Katie
Aspiring actress, loves animals, writing and travel. I'm a first time home-lister, so don't be frightened by my lack of reviews. I promise I'm very normal and my place is really nice.
