Murat, Sharr's property manager, was super welcoming and accommodating. We arrived later than planned, left earlier than planned, but everything was all good. He shared great information regarding restaurants and surf too. We were there with our two young sons, they loved it too!
Casa Chameleon was a perfect cabana nestled in Playa Del Grande and Sharr is an amazing host! Sharr is stellar, organized and always ready to help with your needs.
We were swept away with the wows of the unplugged Costa Rican nature escape right outside our door. Casa Chamaeleon is five minutes away from Playa Del Grande's beautiful beach and is an easy 15 minute walk to Tamarindo via beach. Sharr helped us and all of our friends connect the dots with local things to do and see, making an unforgettable surf vacation for us and friends. We highly recommend her as a host!
Really nice area within walking distance to the beach, water taxis and the 2 closest restaurants. The casa was spacious with great AC and fans in each bedroom.
Occasionally we had the power go out due to strong winds during the day. Just make sure your electronics are charged overnight.
If anything was needed, Sharrs housekeeper quickly resupplied us. For groceries, I would suggest Auto Mercado in town - plentiful store and not a far trek via water taxi and walking. Also bring flashlights for walking at night. Critters do get in the casa as well as someone else mentioned. The $3 pp water taxi from Bula Bula needs a 15 mins leeway when the channels water is low.
Really nice to make friends with the neighbours ...we had a great group!
The stay was nice, Casa Camaleon was OK. We had a couple geckos coming in and out of the broken window pane and quite a few large spiders and mosquitoes. It was clean though and the shower was warm, the place had AC and wifi also. The apartment was very close to the beach and was nestled in a quiet community which was just what we wanted. Not much of a nightlife at all (Seven bar was the only place to go by foot) but we really had no interest in that anyway so it was fine. The beach was fantastic and pretty empty besides the surfers.
At first we had an issue as Sharr had overbooked and she wanted to put us in a place with no bedrooms, only a loft and a pullout couch. After we expressed that we needed 2 rooms, she made it work for us to stay in the original place. It was a little uncomfortable in the end, as we were told from another couple staying in the adjoining apartment that Sharr had told them what happened and made it seem like we were unreasonable for simply wanting to stay in the place we booked. Glad it worked out, we ended up having a very nice trip.
Hi Amanda - Was lovely having you all. Such a happy fun group! It was great to watch you all enjoying!!
I didn't know there was a broken louvre window pane. I only discovered later that the housekeeper broke it before you arrived and neglected to tell me. I think she was embarrassed to admit it :( You should have given me a shout when you spotted it since we saw each other every day. Its all taken care of in a minute as I have spares here for that reason. Sorry about that one! And yes - geckos and spiders are a part of Costa Rica we learn to live with and its what we love about the place and why we are here - for the nature. They are always around but we do love them and fortunately no harmful ones. Hope they weren't too much :)
Thank-you for your patience in my working to accommodate the last minute traveler request (not overbooking) and as always if I have extra enquiries I offer the free upgrades to my earliest confirmed guests which were you. I had expected you would love the chance for the upgrade as I have experienced with other guests offered the same in the past. It was for a divine one bedroom house with all the amenities and really lush kitchen - double the price of your Camaleon Apartment. As explained the choice was always yours and I am happy you were pleased to have settled in the two bedroom apartment in the end.
It was great to hear your surf lessons I arranged for you went well and that you enjoyed the board rental from me. Its always joyous watching or hearing about a learner surfer having fun out there. Hope Nica was a blast. Pura Vida.
We LOVED staying at Sharr's place! The beach location is excellent, and the fun, low-key town with plenty of restaurants was great. Fenced yard was perfect for the kids. Highly recommended! Sharr was knowledgeable and very helpful.
