The Rose bedroom has a kingsized bed, the bed in Poppy is a standard double. In the salon there is a sofabed for 2 extra people if required.

There is a large walk-in shower next to the Rose bedroom, with basin and WC. The Poppy bedroom has a bathroom with tub, overhead shower and separate WC.

In the salon there is a sofabed and also a dining table and chairs for 6.

The kitchen is fully equipped with electric hob and oven, microwave, fridge/freezer, plenty of cutlery, plates and kitchen utensils.

There is central heating throughout the apartment, and also airconditioning. There is a TV in the salon and in the Poppy bedroom. Free wifi of course.

Mediterranean beaches are only 20 minutes away and we are surrounded by some of the best cycling, walking and geocaching regions in France, on our doorstep.

Guest access

Guests have shared use of the pool, garden, barbecue, garden furniture.

Interaction with guests

We live here and are happy to help with advice, suggestions etc but never intrude.

The neighborhood

Montblanc is a large winegrowing village, surrounded by vineyards. We are very lucky to have good shops just a few minutes' walk away - 2 bakeries, a small supermarket, butcher, chemist, greengrocers, hairdressers, beautician, and a weekly market. Plus there is a lively bar, a snack bar, pizza vendor, and a restaurant. The church is very pretty and worth a visit - there are free guided tours in the summer season, and also a tourist office.

We are close to the Mediterranean and with easy access to historic market towns - Pezenas, 10 minutes away is delightful - and also word famous sites such as Carcassonne and the Canal du Midi.

Getting around

There is off the road parking in front of the house, and space for 2 cars in our enclosed yard at the rear of the house.

There is a local bus service but, as in all rural areas in France, it is rather limited. The closest railway station is in Agde, about 20 mins by car, and from here there are regular trains to Paris and Barcelona - and to local destinations such as Montpellier, Nîmes etc.

Other things to note

This is large house, and also our home. Tony and I live here permanently, as do our respective mothers who have independent ground floor apartments. We have lived here for 12 years and have put alot of thought and hard work into creating a pleasant setting for us and our family and especially for all our guests.

Parts of the house date back probably to the 17th century, and some areas are late 19th century. This presents many challenges in creating comfortable modernised accommodation whilst retaining old world charm. For example, we have chosen to keep some wonderful centuries old wooden beams uncovered, they have been treated of course but can cause dust.

Family bedrooms and living space are separate from the guest areas but it should be noted that all access to the back garden and pool area is via our kitchen. We have plans to build a separate kitchen one day but for the moment the lay-out of the house dictates that guests have to go through the kitchen. We are very open about this and guests should never worry about 'disturbing' us. In fact chambre d'hôte guests have full use of all our kitchen equipment etc.

We enjoyed our stay in Carole's apartment. The apartment was clean, the kitchen was well equipped, with all the accessories we needed for a comfortable stay. It is also conveniently located, in proximity to most tourist destinations in Hérault department. Highly recommended for anyone travelling in the area!

Tony came to fetch us when we arrived at the rail station, and Carol too came down with another car when the former wouldn't start. The apartment is self catering but we had most of our meals in the dining area or backyard. We had Carol prepare for us spaghetti bolognese for lunch, and chicken in provencal sauce for dinner as most shops are closed on Sundays. Very tasty and appetizing. We had the pleasure of meeting John (another guest), Rocky & Helios dogs). Tony helped us with directions and recommendations. He even printed out maps for us which was helpful. Carol lent us a large beach bag to stuff our things in, plus a beach towel. It's the first place we've stayed through airbnb that has 2 air conditioners (living/bedroom)! Rocky was kinda sad on our last day and licked my wife's hand and stood near her. :) A quiet and pleasant place to stay.

We had a brilliant time with Tony and Carole. Tony picked us up from the airport, Carole cooked us a fabulous meal with local wine, and our accomm. was just perfect - and quiet! We arrived 8.30 p.m. and sadly had to leave after breakfast the following day, so we plan to return for a longer stay next time, as it was so lovely. On our way back to the airport, Tony took us to a vineyard where we bought some more of the excellent wine, and an added delight was to walk Rocky the dog through the vines! What a treat. Cannot thank you enough, Carole and Tony! Gillian, Peter and Mary.

My boyfriend and I loved our stay in the Rose Apartment. And Tony and Carole were the best of hosts! They were extremely welcoming and hospitable and had a wealth of information regarding the town, attractions, and restaurants. They even recommend a Vineyard for us to go to for wine tasting, which we had a great time at and bought some amazing wines! On another night we cooked dinner in the backyard with Tony's awesome bbq and Carole took the time to bring us plates, glasses, a tablecloth and even candles - needless to say we had a very romantic candle light dinner that night :) They also have two loving dogs who were so sweet and playful. The apartment itself was perfect - exactly what we were hoping for! It was spotless, had everything we could need, and a few extras that we loved like air conditioning and a king size bed - two things I know, as an American living in France, are hard to find here! We would recommend Tony and Carole's Bed and Breakfast to anyone planning a trip to the south of France!

Lovely house in Montblanc - and what a charming town! Tony and Carol were marvelous hosts, loved the gourmet French breakfast on the terrace, and the Sunflower Suite is beautiful - wish we could have stayed longer! Will certainly return to take advantage of this charming residence!

We had a brilliant time with Tony and Carol. They have so many options to choose from, we picked the B&B with dinner and were not disappointed. Carol is a wonderful cook and on our first night produced a three course meal with very little notice - sorry Carol! They are intelligent, amusing and warm people with a wealth of stories, it was like going to a dinner party every night. We loved staying in the Sunflower Room, comfy bed and reliable wifi, secure parking for the bike. Enjoyed the pool, got to know the sweet dogs and will never forget the name Villa Roquette and the elephants in the trees, thanks to Tony's stories! Don't miss Tony's tour of Pezenas. Highly recommended!

Response from Carole:
Hi! We're glad you had a nice time ! Breakfast is included in the price for our B&B clients, we can do breakfast for clients in the apartments but there would be a small charge. Perhaps next time ........

We moved to France 25 years ago and have lived in Languedoc for 20 years as we love it so much. Our 3 kids grew up here and have moved away but enjoy coming back to visit and now we have both our mothers living with us as well. We have dogs and grandchildren, all equally loved!, and enjoy welcoming guests into our family home and life - many have become friends and comeback regularly.

My husband, Tony, is passionate about photography, in particular 19th century wetplate photography . He has built himself a darkroom and photo lab and has built up an impressive collection of cameras and photographic equipment as well as old photos and prints. He loves sharing his passion with visitors so please come and chat with him about it all. He tours the local antiques and 'flea' markets every Sunday and is adept at spotting interesting finds.

We aim to provide a relaxed and family atmosphere at Villa Roquette. Our house reflects our varied interests and passions and is as far away as possible from a formal hotel experience.
