This was my very first AirBnB and it was wonderful! Marlene was a great host -- she was easy to contact and responded quickly when it came to coordinating check in and answering any questions I had. The cottage was nice - clean, spacious and very homey. It was super convenient to the California Ave station, which was good for me since I needed to use Caltrain to get to work meetings. Additionally there is a grocery store as well as CVS and Walgreens just a few blocks away. I picked up groceries and used the hot plate and cooking utensils provided at the cottage to make meals, which is so nice instead having to eat out every meal while traveling. I would definitely recommend Marlene's lovely cottage next time your in Palo Alto or bay area in general.
Marlene and Jeff were once again superb hosts! A repair was required, and they were quick and responsive to taking care of it, with smiles and an offer of cappuccino coffee - Now what better service and kindness could one want?!?!
As previously stated, this place is perfect for all of my wants and needs. Do not hesitate to book here (just not when I want it : )
I described this cottage to my colleagues as my Swiss Family Robinson tree house because it felt like a cabin in the woods - peaceful and charming. Marlene is a great host and that tub is pretty killer. Great location right off of a main drag in a great neighborhood. Thanks Marlene!
Each time I stay here, it feels ever more wonderful. Completely and highly recommended!
I'm no stranger to staying here, as it is my favorite place to stay when I'm in Palo Alto. Marlene is an impeccable hostess, providing snacks, milk in the refrig for my coffee, colorful lights on the patio, plus a clean, cozy, comfortable space. Staying here is truly a wonderful experience to which I look forward.
Very nice. The big japanese (?) bathtub is very nice, too. Nice living room, comfy bed, nice bathroom, very small but serviceable mini-kitchen. All-round great experience. I will return upon my next visit to Palo Alto.
I could not be happier, staying at Marlene's cottage. Everything optimized the sense of hospitality I enjoyed - from the outside "magical" patio lights to the lovely sound of the garden fountain, including the milk, almonds and oatmeal left for me. I left feeling nourished in all ways!
Excellent place, excellent host. Recommended++
This was my fourth time staying at this garden cottage. It continues satisfying ALL of my desires for comfort, serenity, privacy, and a touch of nature & whimsy (via the lovely garden). I will happily be back again!
Everything about this experience was a treat! I was attending a conference at Stanford and thought I would take the shuttle everyday, but since Marlene's cottage was a nice walk to campus I chose that instead. The cottage was very comfortable and well stocked with all the amenities as well as that wonderful hot tub. Marlene is also a movie buff so I was thrilled to have many to choose from. As well, she is a world traveller and a great conversationalist. This was my first time using airbnb but now I'm spoiled!
