Exclusive rental of our MUSEUM IN A MANSION, COZY AND QUIET, ROMANTIC ABODE. Elegant but comfy Madison House circa 1850 boasts nine uniquely and comfortably, antique furnished bedrooms, each with its attractive and modern private bathroom with bathtub and shower. Our 150 by 30 feet enclosed arboretum- courtyard is a haven for birds and a peaceful place to sit, relax, contemplate, smoke and whatever. Ideal for reunions, celebrations, catered or cook for yourself dinner parties, tours, etc.

The space
This 13,000 square feet, 1850's mansion, faithfully restored by its owner, M.D. geriatrician, educator and hotelier (owner and designer of Great Huts Resort Jamaica), is cozy and warm, yet elegant and grand. Period chandeliers hang from the high ceilings, Persian rugs cozy up the common rooms and oil paintings, sculptures and etchings adorn the walls. papered with historic William Morris wall coverings by Bradbury and Bradbury. You'll feel transported to the 19th century but with on high speed internet. The home has hosted John F. Kennedy, Franklin Delano Roosevelt, Katherine Hepburn, Errol Flynn when (for more than 100 years) it housed the world famous Dr William S Baer 4 East Madison Orthopedic Clinic. Located on the corner of Madison Street and North Charles, the detached home with generously sized moss on old brick, English garden is steps away to fine restaurants, Spirits Wine Shop, fun cafes, and the Stables Pub.

Guest access
Magnificent, spacious parlors, country style porch, huge private arboretum-courtyard with ample seating. Meandering hallways with and eclectic museum quality art collection guaranteed to please, stimulate and sometime provoke. Arguably we have the largest collection of Chagall etchings and lithographs in any home of the Baltimore Washington region. For you use, we offer our commercial French country kitchen, television Room, library, twelve plus cars parking lot, and a whole lot more.

Other things to note
I am always happy to help you, guide you and advise as you may wish to make your stay in Madison House and wonderful Baltimore GREAT. I know a fair amount about off the beaten track fun and safe places, and can introduce you to amazing artists and scholars and with enough notice arrange behind the scenes tours of theaters and museums. God forbid you are sick, you have a doctor in the house -me- ( I am an internist and geriatrician) and we are blocks away for three Emergency Rooms including Mercy, University Maryland and Johns Hopkins. One stop shopping here ;-)

Call me Dr. Paul! I am a native of Brooklyn,NY but have lived in Baltimore -Washington for 40 years. My wife and I love each other but she lives and works in LA. My projects are my 'children." Maybe I'll be a real dad in my next life. But great that you have kids! Hats off to you, truly! I am a house calls physician (yup I make house calls) and geriatrics specialist ( and hotelier) I love both aspects of my work (health care and hospitality) . As an associate clinical professor of medicine at George Washington University I round with my enthusiastic medical students to the homes of homebound elders in underserved areas of the District of Columbia. In this - the autumn of my career - I aspire to support medical excellence, build team spirit, teach and inspire medical students and residents and keep patients well cared for. By sharing medical judgement, humility, warmth and humor, I strive to keep my patients comfortable and happy. My other passions include African art and culture, architecture, Judeo-African connections, interior design, cinema and community service.I am honored to be the co-founder of the Port Antonio Homeless Shelter, which I help fund through rentals at Madison House Baltimore. I am the founder and designer of socially conscious, ecotourism retreats in Port Antonio, Jamaica - Great Huts Resort and Africana House (see (Website hidden by Airbnb) and I have the honor of having established a number of internationally recognized cross cultural educational programs in Jamaica including Cinema Paradise: Portie Film Festival. I recently self published an illustrated family memoir called Pink! which I presented in theatrical form to student groups in New York. I am completing my second book, House Calls: Tales of an Aging Geriatrician. I am a percussionist and vocalist and often sing American standards and Broadway favorites at Supanos and other Karaoke venues. Come sing with me!
