This cozy, light-filled beach house sits on 2.5 acres of land and over 100 feet of prime waterfront on Hammersley Inlet. Hammersley Inlet is located in South Puget Sound 10 minutes away from the city of Shelton. It sleeps 8-10 people and includes a huge front lawn, giant deck, firepit, barbecue, washer/dryer and solitude. Try clam digging, beachcombing, kayaking, or just lounge on the deck. Cabin is 30 minutes from Olympia and 90 minutes from Seattle.
This was such a beautiful place to stay. Great water views. We also enjoyed midnight walks on the beach. This place was big enough to bring friends & family. We also enjoyed some outside adventures by going Manila clam digging & oyster ing at Oakland bay which was only about 15 or so minutes away. Down town Shelton was only a 5 min drive away. We enjoyed a couple of tasty meals there (smoking Mo's & Bob's tavern). For all you chefs out there, this place was stocked with many pots, pans, & knives to prepare dinner. They even had basic seasonings to use. The host Charlie was great to work with & one of my favorites. He quickly answered all my questions about our trip. I would definitely come back again.
Great Place! Clean and super comfortable. Beautiful location. We were in town for a family event and it was nice to have a place for a few to come visit afterwords. Weather was expected but would love to return in the summer to enjoy all the amenities.
We just returned from a weekend away at the South Puget Sound Beach House and overall it was a very nice relaxing getaway. The outdoor space is the best feature; we really enjoyed the deck, lounge chairs, yard, hammock and beach area. The views are beautiful at all times of day.
There are a few cons with the property. One of the two queen beds (the one on the first floor) is very creaky. Loud creaky. So much so that none of us could imagine sleeping on it. As a result, one couple had to sleep on two separate twin beds, in the second bedroom on the first floor.
The carpet in the living room/dining room area was heavily covered in dog fur, as was the large arm chair in the living room. This is great if you have a dog, but not so great if you have toddlers (or allergies to pet dander!).
And, we encountered lots of mosquitoes at night, which is good just to be aware of. None of the windows have screens so you can't open them to air out the house at night--unless you want to fend off the mosquitoes inside. Bring your bug spray and repellant candles so that you can try to enjoy the patio at night.
Hopefully those few inside details will help you plan for your visit. It is a nice trip to take for a quiet, remote, and peaceful location. Great shade and sun on the patio and some of the best lounge chairs we've seen!
