Just relax in the peace and quiet generated in a warm and friendly environment.....
Johanna made me feel very welcome and the room was great. The location is really good, only 10 minutes on foot from the centre but far enough to be in a quiet location.
We arrived as arranged but only saw her husband he said Johanna was doing her hair, he quickly took us to our room no.4 on the top floor which is not the room in the photo which we thought we were getting. We were not impressed with the room it was dusty there were cobwebs, the carpets were not clean and had stains on them, In the shower room there was mould on the window frames also the ceiling had a bad crack in it. The whole room needed a good spring clean. Johanna and her husband must have gone away because we knock on there door but got no reply.
It is hard to believe that the previous review is describing the same room. I am sorry the Schooleys were expecting 5* accommodation but there you go we cannot please everyone......We are an old "friendly" Victorian building with large spacious comfortable rooms and access to a fully equipped kitchen, close to the town centre with free parking for £50.00 per night !
Johanna was lovely from beginning to end; although we were running quite late on our way, she was very accommodating and not in the least concerned. She was also very happy to move the cars in her drive around so we could park! We did not stay in the room pictured, but in an equally lovely room; the bed was very comfy, wifi was provided, there was a good TV and the shower in the ensuite was amazing! Do remember it is self-catering, which suited us fabulously (out for brunch and a big dinner as a treat!). It is wonderfully located, and you will struggle to find anything as nice, laidback and affordable as this elsewhere in Stratford. Despite being only a 10 minute (or less) walk to the town centre, it is a lovely, quiet, residential area. We will absolutely be back, and it will be lovely to see Johanna again!
We had a lovely weekend, the room is very comfortable with a gt bath. House is close to town with all its attractions. Would definitely stay again if in the area.
Checking in was a bit of a challenge because Johanna was not immediately available, however it all worked out satisfactorily, and our host proved to be kind hearted and helpful.
The location is perfect, 5 minutes from the town centre in a quiet residential street. We had a very nice ensuite bathroom. The kitchen/sitting room located on the main-floor was nicely furnished and contained all necessary appliances, a small fridge, tv, electric fire and comfortable chairs. I would certainly stay here again. Thank-you Johanna.
Johanna was very welcoming and helpful throughout my visit. The house is in a quiet street a short (safe) walk from the town centre and the theatres. It was great to be able to park the car off the road for the week and walk everywhere. The room was comfortable and clean, with a good sized bathroom too. The communal kitchen/ diner downstairs is well equipped and works well for self catering - eating out is lovely in Stratford but gets expensive if you're there for a week!
The room looked as listed, though a bit older. It was a spacious, comfortable room and bathroom in a calm neighbourhood only a 15mn-walk from the Stratford theaters. The bathroom was clean. Unfortunately, the room itself was only partly vacuumed and there was dust in many places, as well as spiders and other bugs.
We only saw our host on the first day, as we were mostly busy attending a conference during the week and going to performances in the evening. On the last day, we had trouble sleeping as our host had gone out camping and her teenage son, I presume, took advantage of this to have a party downstairs, just underneath our room.
As breakfast was not included in this booking, we didn't get more opportunities to meet with our host. We would have appreciated some milk and sugar for our tea and coffee.
I've been running my guesthouse for 16 years and have worked in hospitality for more than 20 years. I have three grown-up children. We are culture vultures and love going to the theatre. I look forward to welcoming you to Stratford-upon-Avon.
