Beautiful area

Guests love this home’s scenic location.
In the grounds of a 15th century château - featured in a number of home & interior magazines - this beautifully converted, spacious, former stables is set in glorious gardens with views over our 10-acre truffle orchard. Full of character and charm, thick local limestone walls keep the house cool in summer yet cosy during colder, truffle-hunting months. The covered terrace is perfect for alfresco dining. (This accommodation has not been adapted for people with disabilities of any kind.)

The space
Utterly private, it is the setting of La Fuye which makes it such a special place to stay. The Stables are hidden away from the outside world, yet only 5km from Chinon. The beautiful walled garden is scattered with large, shady oaks and limes. Within it you will find rolling lawns perfect for a game of croquet, a terrace, a heated swimming pool (fitted with a regulation French pool alarm but, as the photos show, it is unfenced which we feel makes it unsuitable for those with young children). The garden also contains our beautiful free-ranging peacock with his hareem of hens (their organic eggs, when available, are given to you during your stay). There are also five active bee colonies producing our delicious estate honey; we use the beeswax to polish the antique furniture. A heavily scented, formal rose garden sits opposite the front door and cut flowers are provided in all bedrooms during the months we have blooms in the garden. You also have access to the entire 10-acre truffle orchard.

The interior of the Stables has been decorated and furnished to the highest of standards, combining artwork and antiques with beautiful fabrics and vintage finds: think atmospheric and characterful but with all the mod cons. All bathrooms feature Lefroy Brooks showers. We’re also really into cleaning (we try very hard to only use organic cleaning products) and like to make sure the space is sparkling!

If you are a group of 8 the near by, fully self-contained turreted East Tower of the main house is also available for overflow rental (at an additional charge). This 15th century turreted hideaway has its own entrance, via a stone staircase and a pretty, sheltered terrace that offers breathtaking views over the château’s working truffle orchard. Full of character internally, it offers a beamed circular double bedroom - featuring a luxurious roll top bath - with a sitting room/study below. Pls ask for more details - alternatively it is listed on airbnb in its own right as 'Château Tower in Heart of Loire Valley'. The East Tower is approximately 25 meters from the Stables. If you want to book the combined listing of Stables + Tower it is listed as ‘Château Stables, Circular Tower & Truffle Orchard’

Guests have private access to the entire estate. Please note that the pool is only open during the summer.

Other things to note
Please be aware that the property has the following:
- a well (not a visible feature and very securely covered)
- a swimming pool (not covered or fenced in summer but fitted with a French regulatory pool alarm). Closed and covered in winter. Cover cannot be walked on.
- a natural 'cave' / natural rocky opening within the garden (very traditional in this part of France). This has been partially covered over by a wire grill for safety reasons.

Strictly no glasses or breakables to be used in the garden or by the swimming pool. Good quality plastic glasses and enamelware are provided for your safety.
