We just added a beautiful garden room to this lovely bungalow with a 6' by 4' window overlooking your private garden...
This little oasis is in the most awesome location - situated right at the entry of Kailua Beach Park - walk out the back gate and you are on Kailua Beach where you will find the softest white sand on Oahu on our 2.5-mile beach - - often rated in the top 10 most beautiful beaches in the world. Beach walk, swim, kayak, wind-surf, kite board, body surf, snorkel, hike, jog the Lanikai loop (4 miles around door-to-door) - there is an abundance of fun activities here...or, completely relax and chill out - it's very easy in this quiet & secluded bungalow.
Famous local hang out - Kalapawai Market, is outside the long driveway - wonderful for those morning lattes and deli breakfasts/lunches. Buzz's Restaurant is a short stroll down the beach and, Kailua Town Center is exactly 1 mile / 1.6 kilometers away; packed with a delightful array of restaurants and cool shops.
We have just completed renovating this old-style Hawaiian home so that it will have the charm of old Hawaii with modern conveniences. The bungalow is on the ground level of a 2-story home. The property is double gated (street side and beach side) and has:
- Off-street parking
- Private entry
- Private outdoor garden with a barbeque
- Wireless Internet
- Air Conditioning
- Flat screen TV w/ HD cable including free HBO & Showtime
- Kitchen includes: Mid-size fridge, microwave, counter oven, induction cook top (solo), blender, coffee maker, tea hot pot
- Queen-sized bed w/ high-end linens
- Washer/dryer (shared)
- DVD Player
- Beach chairs, beach towels and coolers - an iron and ironing board - blow dryers, etc... it's got it all.
Great retreat for a maximum of 2 easy-going, nonsmoking (since we request no smoking anywhere on the property) adults (25 years and older only). We accept reservations that begin and end on Thursday, Friday & Saturday.

Bungalow Policies / Guidelines
MAXIMUM OCCUPANCY – The maximum number of guests is limited to two (2) adults, over 25.
This is a completely NON-SMOKING property – non-smokers preferred.
The Secluded Beach Bungalow is located in a residential neighborhood. To be good neighbors, we ask that our guests not have more than 4 people at a time on the property, including yourselves. For any large gatherings, we do have a party venue here and we book weddings, receptions and other functions here (25-person maximum) Check us out at Male’ana Gardens.
NO DAILY HOUSEKEEPING SERVICE – While two sets of linens and bath towels are included in the unit, daily maid service is not included. A W/D is on the property. And, if you have an extended stay and wish to have your bungalow cleaned, we have a wonderful cleaning crew that can be hired.
Pets – We do have two cats on the property – Neo & Zazou. PLEASE DRIVE SLOWLY on the long driveway and brake for birds & cats ☺
PARKING – Off-street parking is limited to one (1) vehicle. The vehicle is to be parked in the designated area solely for the use of the bungalow guests – right outside the bungalow’s entry. One SHORT-TERM additional guest parking may be available WITH ADVANCE COORDINATION. Easy parking for your guests is available from 6am - 10pm at the beach park with access into the property through the beach gate. Keeping the parking easy to access and the property quiet and peaceful for both bungalows is designed to give our guests a tranquil & restful respite on their holiday.
THE NEIGHBORHOOD – These bungalows are in a neighborhood community - guests are welcome who can harmonize with the easy flow here. And, all conversations, music & tvs need to be mellowed by 9pm Sun-Thurs/10pm Fri & (email hidden)x.
CANCELLATIONS – Cancellations that are made more than sixty (60) days prior to the arrival date are fully refundable. Cancellations that are made more than thirty (30) days prior to the arrival date will receive a 50% refund of the reservation. Any cancellation 30 days or less receives no refund. See Storm Policy:
No refunds will be given unless:
The state or local authorities order mandatory evacuations in a "Tropical Storm/Hurricane Warning area" and/or
A "mandatory evacuation order has been given for the Tropical Storm/Hurricane Warning" area of residence of a vacationing guest.
The day that the authorities order a mandatory evacuation order in a "Tropical Storm/Hurricane Warning," area, we will refund:
Any unused portion of rent from a guest currently registered;
Any unused portion of rent from a guest that is scheduled to arrive, and wants to shorten the stay, to come in after the Hurricane Warning is lifted; and
Any advance rents collected or deposited for a reservation that is scheduled to arrive during the "Hurricane Warning" period.
This unit is privately owned; the owners are not responsible for any accidents, injuries or illness that occurs while on the premises or its facilities. The Homeowners are not responsible for the loss of personal belongings or valuables of the guest. By accepting this reservation, it is agreed that all guests are expressly assuming the risk of any harm arising from their use of the premises or others whom they invite to use the premise.
FALSIFIED RESERVATIONS – Any reservation obtained under false pretense will be subject to forfeiture of advance payment, deposit and/or rental money, and the party will not be permitted to check in.
If you're staying in Kailua, by all means, stay here. We spent a week and cannot overstate what a beautiful place this is.
This little cottage is located steps from the beach and practically next door to a great local market with wonderful coffee and delicious breakfast and lunch items prepared to order from the counter. But you never hear a peep from the market. Perfect location.
Cheri and Scott are completely charming and Cheri makes sure that you have everything you need. In advance, she sends an excellent list of things to do/places to go as well as directions to the bungalow. Then she meets you as you arrive and shows you everything you need to know about the place. Great communication before and during your stay.
The cottage is lovely with a very comfortable queen size bed and excellent pillows of two varieties. The bath is small, but well organized with a nicely tiled shower and shelves next to the sink to put all your toiletries.
The kitchen is ample with a nice sized refrigerator and plenty of counter space. You could easily cook dinner here, but we were on vacation, so we didn't.
Off the kitchen, there is a great little room with a twin bed made up into a daybed with lots of pillows and a huge window that looks out over the private garden space and fountain. That was my reading spot every day.
The private garden is all yours and just lovely with comfortable chairs and ottomans - it's a tropical paradise.
The whole place is pretty and thoughtfully decorated. It is cozy but not cramped.
It has three huge closets with plenty of room for everything so you can get your luggage out of the way. It comes stocked with everything you would need for your beach vacation.
Big TV with HBO and wifi - reception was great.
Has AC but we used fans, which were fine.

Cheri and Scott were extremely welcoming host. My honey and I decided to spend our honeymoon at their bungalow in Kailua, HI. They were both wonderful with communication before, during and even after our stay.
Cheri welcomed us and showed us around our accommodations and down to the beach. They provided us with everything we needed during our 10 day stay, including information and things to do around the island.
The accommodations were very clean, welcoming and ideal for anyone looking to enjoy a relaxing vacation on the beautiful Lanikai beach (a 1 minute walk from your door!). The landscaping is breathtaking and provides for an even more relaxed stay. The unit was spacious, but comfortable and cozy, and the bungalow was even nicer than we expected!
I highly recommend this location for anyone looking to stay in Kailua. The quiet atmosphere was perfect for us, and the location was even better. A quick drive down the road and you can go hiking, eat at great restaurants, go to the market or even drive into Honolulu.
There is no question that when we go back to Oahu we will stay there again!
Cheri sent a detailed list of suggestions/links of things to do, great places to eat, and more before we left for our trip. She kept in touch by email and was ready for us as we arrived at our parking spot. She has an obvious love for what she does which is reflected in a bungalow that is well-equipped, super clean, quiet, and full of Hawaiian charm. The beautiful surrounding garden gives the feel of privacy even though you are steps to the beach and a deli/market. Would love to go back!
Cheri and Scott definitely have a welcoming, relaxing and not to mention well equipped bungalow! While we only met them on our last day as they were in Africa, they made sure we had everything we needed to ensure our stay was impeccable! Activities and restaurant recommendations were great and we definitely were pleased we took their advice! Kailua is a stunning community, the people are great and the stores are adorable. In all, our stay was a 10 we couldn't ask for more! Thank you Cheri and Scott!!
Cheri and Scott were wonderful, accommodating hosts. The bungalow is even better than it appears in the photos! You really can't beat the location, we loved Kailua and all it had to offer. Cheri's suggestions on dining, hiking, and activities in Oahu are spot on. We can't wait to come back again and stay there!! I've had many airbnb experiences around the country, and this was by far the best -- 5 stars all the way!

I am a leadership/mgmt consultant and I have been very lucky in that my work has allowed me to coach and lead workshops on 5 continents. My husband and I love to explore the world and, when we are at home, we love to renovate - bringing old homes back to life!
We have enjoyed welcoming guests into our bungalows here in Kailua - the property is huge (over 20,000 sq. ft.) and so, guests can feel very secluded - everyone has their own private parking space, entry and their own private gardens. If our papaya and bananas trees are fruiting - we share!

A little market right at the entry of our driveway - local hang out and great place to have morning lattes and muffins - afternoon sandwiches...
We are lucky to have one of the best pizzeria's right across the street from us - even our NY guests have to admit that it's very good :)
A fun beachy restaurant just a couple-minute walk from the bungalow. Don't let the "Steak House" put you off if you're not a meat eater - the fresh salads and seafood are really the draw here!
Local favorite - super staff & well-priced.
This is the big sister to the Market which is right next door to us...you can't go wrong here for breakfast, lunch or dinner - check it out!

There are two restaurants - the Market is very casual w/ local food & their new Cafe (our favorite) has wonderfully prepared high-end meals though you are still in a relaxed atmosphere...awesome staff
