We just added a beautiful garden room to this stunning bungalow with a 6' by 4' window overlooking your private garden...
This little oasis is in the most awesome location - situated right at the entry of Kailua Beach Park - walk out the back gate and you are on Kailua Beach where you will find the softest white sand on Oahu on our 2.5-mile beach - - often rated in the top 10 most beautiful beaches in the world. Beach walk, swim, kayak, wind-surf, kite board, body surf, snorkel, hike, jog the Lanikai loop (4 miles around door-to-door) - there is an abundance of fun activities here...or, completely relax and chill out - it's very easy in this quiet & secluded bungalow. Famous local hang out - Kalapawai Market, is outside the long driveway - wonderful for those morning lattes. Buzz's Restaurant is a short stroll down the beach and, Kailua Town Center is an easy 15-20 minute walk; packed with a delightful array of restaurants and cool shops.

We have just completed renovating this old-style Hawaiian home so that it will have the charm of old Hawaii with modern conveniences. The bungalow is on the ground level of a 2-story home. The property is double gated (street side and beach side) and has:

  • Cheri and Scott's bungalow was everything the listing promised and more! This was the perfect home base for two travelers, we love Kailua and this location steps from the beach is ideal. The bungalow had everything we needed from a comfy bed to the cozy garden room and the outdoor garden lounge space (so many beautiful plants and flowers along with happy little geckos) It has a well-appointed and spacious kitchen and everything we needed for great days at the beach like beach chairs, big towels and a cooler. They thoughtfully provide things like plush bath towels, lots of hangers, Hawaiian soap and shampoo, access to a washer and dryer...things that make the bungalow a very welcoming home away from home in paradise. Cheri and Scott were just a text away (or upstairs) if we had any questions and were very helpful. They waited up late for our arrival on the first night, greeted us warmly, and helped us get settled quickly so we could get some rest and be ready for our first day of adventures on Oahu. Communication with them throughout our reservation process and the trip was fantastic. We'd love to come back again!

  • We had a great time staying with with Cheri & Scott, they were excellent hosts and didn't miss anything to make our stay the best it could be. They communicated with us and help us with questions before our arrival and once there they made sure we had all we needed.
The location of the bungalow in Kailua is a paradise in itself. They have taken a lot of pride in this place and it really makes you feel like you are "away" from all the business and have your own little paradise all to yourself. The garden area is great to spend time in to relax and literally you are only a short walk from the beach which is amazing. It is a very beautiful beach and it is not very crowded which is very nice especially for a morning walk.
There is plenty to do in Kailua and most of it is within walking distance or a short drive. With local stores and restaurants to several hikes that give you amazing views of the East side of the island. You will be amazed.
We will definitely make another trip to stay here and recommend this little paradise to anyone looking for a true getaway ! You will be well taken care of. Thank you Cheri and Scott

  • Excellent place, excellent host, excellent stay!
Kailua is the best place on the Oahu island to stay, and cheri's secluded bungalow provided everything we needed.
The place was clean, as described in the add, and user friendly.
A recent garden room, expanded this small gem, and was great for meditating and hanging in on wet days on the island.
The property is on the back of Kailua Beach park, literally steps from the beach.
Would stay again if visiting the región.

  • Really enjoyed my stay at Cheri and Scott's secluded bungalow. The garden space and easy access to the beach was especially nice. It's evident they have put a lot of work in to creating and maintaining this oasis. Easy walk to the Sunday farmers market and whole foods market. I've already booked my return trip.

  • You will NOT be disappointed! As others have said, everything in the pictures is exactly as is, the only difference is that it is actually a bit more spacious. My husband and I were on a romantic getaway and the bungalow was a perfect experience and Cheri and Scott were perfect hosts! We are usually a bit shy and don't interact with our hosts much, but in this case we regretted not having the opportunity to spend more time getting to know them. You will love the location and the gorgeous backyard, the town is great, the beach is amazing, if you have the chance STAY HERE!!!

  • Absolutely loved our stay in Kailua - and Cheri's place is a big part of it! She really thought of everything we would need during our getaway - beach chairs, a cooler, a beach bag, even books to read on the beach if we didn't have any!

Even though it rained a few days while we were there, it was great to sit in the garden room and read. The views of their "jungle oasis" as I called it were beautiful.

I'd definitely recommend staying in Kailua as opposed to Waikiki - there are no hotels so it's mostly local folks. Plus the beach is the main attraction, not the city. Lots of great local food that Cheri recommended as well. She was a great host and I definitely recommend her place if you are planning to visit Hawaii. Mahalo!

  • Cheri and Scott really have created a perfect little paradise, everything was exactly as advertised & reviewed. During our two week stay we really felt at the end of the day like we were coming home. Leading up to the trip, their communication was excellent, and meeting them upon our arrival found them to be genuine and lovely people. They provided us with a custom, detailed guide of sights & shops to check out all over the island which was wonderful, and they have guidebooks, hiking trail books and plenty of maps so no need to bring your own. The bed was very comfortable, and had such great sleeps on the pillows that we're looking into buying the same ones!

It was very clear that Cheri & Scott take a lot of pride in their home as no attention to detail was spared and they have great respect for the enjoyment and privacy of their guests. This was our first Airbnb experience, yet we feel they are a gem among gems.

Kailua itself is a beautiful little beach town, well apportioned with a variety of shops, restaurants and services. We found the locals to all be very friendly and very easy to strike up conversation with. It was perfectly positioned to travel around the island from, and such a pleasure to come home to. Being there, you will definitely experience the Aloha Spirit.

  • What a slice of paradise!

Cheri and Scott were amazing hosts, and we cannot wait to go back. The bungalow is beyond charming. Unlike a hotel, you find yourself wanting to hang in the bungalow and beautiful garden. We cooked most of our meals in the bungalow, which was such a blast.

I have been to Oahu over 10 times, but never to Kailua Town. What a cool spot! There are fabulous bike and walking baths, nearby hikes and the beach sand has got to be the softest on the island.

    Thank you Cheri and Scott!

  • We loved staying at Cheri & Michel's. The bungalow is a fabulous property with everything you need + a garden to die for right across the road from the beach and town just a short walk away. Loved it!

  • Cheri and Michel are incredible hosts, friendly and helpful. Their guide to Oahu is great, their recommendations for restaurants are spot on. They have a guide book in the bungalow that we highly recommend using. The bungalow is beautiful, and the distance to the beach cannot be beat. My husband and I absolutely enjoyed our stay in the bungalow!!

About
I am a leadership/mgmt consultant and I have been very lucky in that my work has allowed me to coach and lead workshops on 5 continents. My husband and I love to explore the world and, when we are at home, we love to renovate - bringing old homes back to life! We have enjoyed welcoming guests into our space here in Kailua - the property is huge (over 20,000 sq. ft.) and so, guests can feel very secluded in their private garden. Our new guests get a welcome basket from us with fresh papaya off our trees and bananas when fruiting, kona coffee, plus other fun delicacies of the isle.
