About this listing
Sweet little Los Feliz/Silver Lake studio with full kitchen in a great area - right on the border of Los Feliz and Silver Lake and a 9 min walk to Sunset Junction eateries and shops and the Silver Lake Farmer's market on Saturday mornings.
Silver Lake / Los Feliz Single with full kitchen - walking distance to Trader Joe's. It's half of 1940s house with a private entrance. There is a shared wall that's been sound insulated so you shouldn't hear much, if anything. It is a completely private unit with a separate entrance. Send us a message at tree too tree, ate tree tree won tree tree, too.
Unit is a cute little 250 sq ft apartment located in the Franklin Hills area of Los Feliz for rent - decorated a bit like a bachelor pad. We are across the street from Silver Lake and walking distance to lots of Silver Lake eateries and cool spots.
Occupancy is limited to two. There are no exceptions.
This is a small place! It's great for the business man in town, mom/dad visiting kids/grandkids, or couple hanging out and checking out the local scene. It would be BAD for people who need lots of space! That said, it's got a full kitchen with coffeemaker, kettle, rice cooker, microwave, and antique gas stove (although small), apt sized refrigerator and full sized bed and bathroom with shower. It has a private entrance and is close to great neighborhood shops and eateries. While the place has great wifi and there is a wifi cafe across the street, if you need to do heavy programming then the internet connection may not be strong enough for you. It's fine for (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN)ing, or streaming music, checking emails, etc.
PLEASE NOTE - Guests that require an early check in will not be able to be accommodated due to a heavy booking schedule during high season (usually guests are leaving that morning and a time frame is needed to clean for the new guest). There is only street parking available. The parking is free on our side of the street but there is street cleaning on Friday mornings from 10am to 12 noon - so you will need to move your car during that period. It is also free at the meters across the street from 8pm to 8am everyday. There is generally always parking on the north side of Lyric up the hill a bit which is a half block away if you cannot find a space in front.
It is a small place, so things have been put in their best location to access space. There is a small dresser to the left of the entry way door and a wardrobe bar above that.

PLEASE NOTE - we really want your stay to be a great one. This is a lively neighborhood, so it won't be quiet like the suburbs. If you need silence in order to sleep, this little cottage would not be a good fit for you. But if relative urban liveliness/atmosphere is okay with you, then you'll be fine.

Small Refrigerator with a freezer big enough to hold a turkey
and if you're not into cooking...
Los Feliz/Silver Lake is a great neighborhood - there are wonderful movie theaters, restaurants and boutiques all walking distance. FOOD: Thai, Italian, Brazilian, Vietnamese, Armenian, Chinese, Japanese - all walking distance and most open late or 24 hours. Not to mention great pizza, burgers and bars!
Great public transportation in this area; you wouldn't need a car if you worked in Hollywood or Downtown LA. Close to Griffith Park, Hollywood, Disney Hall, Dodger Stadium and centrally located within Los Angeles.
This is a lively neighborhood so don't expect total peace and quiet but the neighbors are respectful. There is a preschool across the street so during the day you may hear the sound of children playing occasionally.
NOTE FOR SUMMER GUESTS - THERE IS A OLYMPIC SIZED PUBLIC POOL ABOUT A 4 MIN DRIVE AWAY. It opens in June.
The pool is on Riverside and Los Feliz Blvd. in the park across the street from the fountain (not Griffith Park, which is on the other corner). It's really close.
From the house, you'd take Hyperion Ave east (toward Trader Joe's) and make a left (north) to Los Feliz Blvd. Make a right on Los Feliz and drive to Riverside Dr. Make a right on Riverside Dr. and then a left into the parking lot of the park - you should see tennis courts. Walk all the way to the end towards Los Feliz Blvd (or just ask where the pool is).
It's $2.50/$3.00 for the day.
Getting here from the LAX Airport:
There is a bus called the Flyway that can take you to Union Station for 7 dollarsUS (don't worry - you won't need cash/US currency - when you get to Union Station you can pay by credit card) then you can take the Metro Red Line for $1.50 each or take a taxi for about $15 (a taxi from the airport would cost about $55-66US).
You would go back to the airport the same way - though there is a bus that can take you to the Red Line.
There is a Disney Land bus in Downtown LA on 7th and Metro that you can take for less than $3 each way and Disney Hall (the big, shapely, silvery building) is also downtown on 1st Street and Hope - not too far away. You can get there by bus and a short walk in 30min. Since parking downtown can range from $5-$25 and walking from a parking structure takes a lot of time, public transportation is better and sometimes faster to Downtown LA and Hollywood, in my opinion.
An alternative route to Disneyland: Depending on where your starting point is (or, if you'd simply rather get to Disneyland more quickly), you can take a red line metro rail train (from any of its stations in downtown) to the last stop of the line, Union Station, (Fare is $1.50, ride takes a few minutes). Then, transfer to an above-ground train to Fullerton (only 35 minutes -- fares are between $6 (kids) and $12, depending on the day of the week, the train company you select and your age). From Fullerton, it's a 15-minute bus ride ($1.50) or a 10-minute taxi ride ($14) to Disneyland. All in all, the transfer takes about half as long as the 460 bus.
There is also the DASH - the downtown area bus that costs 50 cents and goes all around downtown LA - from Chinatown to USC. There's lots to do there. And it's not too far from the house.
Interaction with Guests
I usually help people out and get things situated when I greet my guests - then I leave them alone!
This unit is on the border on Los Feliz and Silver Lake - so you are close to everything that both communities have to offer. There's lots of great art murals just on Hyperion Ave - Shepard Fairey did one up the street and it's beautiful. You can always contact us at regenerationent gee mail. Or send us a message at tree too tree, ate tree tree won tree tree, too. A number riddle! We'll get back to you with details on the unit and the neighborhood and other details.
This is one of the rare places in town where the public transportation is actually good. If you want to get downtown, the 2 or the 4 bus will take you there in about 12-15min and there's usually not more than a 10 min wait for either bus. The Metro Red Line subway is a 17 min walk away and that will take you into the Valley and far reaches of the city. It also places you right in the middle of Hollywood at the Hollywood stops - great since parking is difficult and expensive there.
No extra guests beyond stated maximums-two. No smoking in the unit or outside on the property. We love pets but this unit is pet and dander free out of consideration for future guests! Please do not rearrange the heavy furniture. Just ask if you have any difficulties - most concerns can usually be handled with a text of information : ) Send us a message at tree too tree, ate tree tree won tree tree, too.
