One of the reasons I will surely return to Scotland was the genuine hospitality and pleasant disposition I experienced at Ian's home. Very tidy, organized and interesting home. Ian is a worldly fellow who has numerous interesting sea stories he will gladly share. His breakfast was phenomenal and gave my brother and I so much energy that we were able to climb a snow capped mountain on the drive back south! Great area very close to the Black Isle/Loch Ness and plenty of beautiful scenery. The locals are also incredibly friendly. Thank you Ian again for a great day in dingwall
Our stay at Ian's in Dingwall was absolutely fantastic. Ian is the most kind gentleman and gets great joy from having guests. He was very helpful, the breakfast was incredible and he made us feel very much at home. Thanks for a wonderful stay and it is definitely the place to stop!
We couldn't go to Inverness because we were by car and it was snowing a lot in the Highlands, but Ian was always receptive and caring by e-mail or phone. We were very much looking forward coming to Inverness but that will be for an other time.
Ian is a friendly, helpful and very generous host - an ancient mariner indeed, with many a tale to tell. But no albatross in sight! Mi casa es su casa could be his motto! His home is in a quiet location, easy to find - and a convenient spot for touring the area - close to many hill, glen and coastal walks, or to see the land from the road - the clearances glens will need a car or other transport. It's a hop and a skip to the popular and lovely Black Isle, for dolphin watching and much more, and near the charms of the queen of the north, Inverness. Not very far from Aviemore too, or for a day's jaunt to the west coast. Ian's also very considerate - although he smokes, he does so outdoors while he has guests.
Scottish hospitality at its warmest!
Ian is a very kind gentleman, laid back and full of life stories. We had a wonderful wonderful time staying with him, only wish we could stay for longer.
Next time for sure!
Do you want a big Scottish breakfast every morning. Yes! then be Ian's guest. I have been fed like a goose every morning I was there, which was great as I was walking all day long here and there and I never had to have a lunch. I never been able to eat all the breakfast neither. Ian love hosting people. He had worked in the hotel industry for many years and he still love that.
If you have to be in Dingwall ask him if he's free to receive, you'll love it.
Eine Top-Unterkunft nahe Inverness! Ian ist ein sehr angenemer Vermieter; offen und interessiert! Jederzeit wieder!
Ian is the best host you could hope to meet. He is very friendly, funny, cozy, and it is a very good cook!
His house is warm, and it is thanks to people like Ian that we have very good memories of this great country of Scotland!
We will keep this short. Make sure Ian is your first port of call!
Ian-I can't speak highly enough of Ian and our stay with him in the Scottish highlands. Thee most humble, caring, fantastic, welcoming and knowledgable host about the highlands. Our room at Ian's was fantastic, warm and cosy with a large comfortable bed. Ian opened his home up to us and provided us with full use of the kitchen, laundry and lounge. The location in Dingwall was great, perfect for exploring the highlands, inverness, Loch Ness and Isle of Skye.
Ian provided helpful tips of what to see and do, provided directions and places of local places to eat and drink. We had such a great time we extended our time with Ian in Dingwall. I wish we could have stayed longer. I highly recommend staying with Ian, not only is his house wonderful and warm, his inside knowledge of local places second to none, the Scottish breakfasts were the best, but Ian made our time in the highlands better than we ever expected. If I return I will certainly be back in touch. Loved it!
