Private getaway on 3+ acres on the river with no visible neighbors, sit by the river or in the enclosed patio with view of the water, walk the trails in the area. This is a great place to self Isolate, remote school, work from home and otherwise stay safe. When safe again or vaccinated, enjoy great restaurants, antiquing, swimming, hiking and access to all New England has to offer. In spring and summer lots of open air activities to be had. Fishing, boating, farmers markets and flea markets.

The space
Private getaway. Large yard, no visible neighbors, sit by the river, walk the trails in the area, try your hand at fishing, hang out by the water. 3 Bed/2 bath home w/ large enclosed porch and a perfect river view. House is close to town (8 min by car) groceries, movie theatre and dining. New Milford is called the Gateway to New England and Litchfield county and all they have to offer, great restaurants, nature, hiking, antiquing and flea marketing. Under 2 hours from NYC.

Large comfortable house with large yard. Feels private as you don't see any neighbors yet it is just off the road.

Master and 1 guest room have new Queensize beds, feather duvets and large closets. Master has a private bath with shower and others share the hall bath with Tub. Home office or Kids room has a desk with wireless printer and a Day bed with pull out trundle for another twin bed. There is also a queen air mattress if necessary. All Beds were purchased new within the past 2 years

Living room with a large Sofa. 2 rocking chairs and 2 wing back chairs for reading and a 42" flat screen with Fire TV (just log in with your Netflix, Hulu, Amazon or use your Home TV provider info to access channels. There is no cable service here just streaming services.) TV swivels to watch from the kitchen or dining room. There is a Wood burning fireplace but wood is not provided. We recommend the compressed fire logs sold in the supermarket.

Huge covered and enclosed Patio with table and 4 chairs 2 recliners and a wicker set for sitting out to watch the water go by regardless of the weather. Down by the water edge you will find a table and chairs and a fire pit to enjoy in the evenings. Table and chairs by the BBQ for alfresco dining in a lit area.

House has full central heating and Air-conditioning, Washer/Dryer, Dishwasher, gas range, Microwave, High speed internet and central vacuum. Large kitchen and a gas BBQ grill for preparation of wonderful meals at home.

Linens, towels, extra pillows, a blanket to snuggle under outside on the porch, bug repellent, soap and shampoo. (kitchen supplies like salt and pepper, oil, spices, condiments etc are no longer provided due to COVID-19 protocols)

Pets maybe accepted in special cases and require an additional cleaning fee of $20 per pet per day for the truck mounted carpet and upholstery cleaning. Still we ask that pets be clean, wet paws are allowed to dry fully on the porch and care be taken. Pets must have a flea and tick collar or treatment and you must pick up after them As AirBnB doesn’t deal with pet fees up front, there will be an added charge applied after you book. BTW we have several dogs and a cat and understand wanting to bring them!

Finally, we still consider this house a work in progress but the Pandemic has thrown a wrench in the works as we are unable to travel back. Basement to be outfitted as a play and exercise area, bathroom renovations, attic conversion to a new master suite were all plans that had to be shelved for the time being.

Where you’ll be

New Milford, Connecticut, United States

Across the river is all parkland so there are never neighbors looking in. Except the occasional fly-fishermen in the river during summer . Of course you likely may have deer in the yard and other creatures to keep you company. Fill the Bird feeder for lots of feathered friends. Had 7 wild turkeys pass by the front door on our last visit and four large geese today.

If the river isn’t enough, nearby Lynn Demming park has a lovely beach on Candlewood lake. Less than 10 minutes away....

Litchfield county and the local towns, are all charming, picturesque villages you will enjoy exploring with lots of great dining, hiking trails, creeks, and lakes around to keep you busy. The Berkshires are a lovely drive but there for theatre/Dance/Music. Museums such as Mass MOCA or Mystic seaport are not too far away. Spring and of course fall in New England are just amazing. Sun is nice but we love a rainy day out on the porch too or the stillness of a winter snow and a crackling fire.

Area has ample shopping such as a Big Y Supermarket, Shop Rite, Aldi's all within 10 minutes and a Stew Leonards (my favorite) not too much farther away.

Please note that during the pandemic options may be more limited but there is still lots to do and Spring and summer open up a world of open air activities.

Expat American and his Argentine wife who love to travel. We enjoyed the AirBnB experiences so much traveling we became hosts ourselves at our vacation home.

During your stay

We are not in the area when the house is occupied but we are available 24/7 by phone/text/email/whatsapp etc. However, we do have people in the area and service companies should any issues arise. A crew will come in at a minimum of 24 hours before and do a full cleaning, fresh linens and a wipe down of all high touch surfaces. We have tried to remove any common use items that can't be washed for the time being, such as salt and pepper and kitchen condiments specifically
