There is a refrigerator for your use, close to your room. A complimentary continental breakfast is provided in our dining room or on the deck from 8am - 9am. Dinner can be provided by prior arrangement at extra cost.
Denise enjoys cooking and can turn her hand to a very tasty meal!
You are welcome to use our sheltered sun-drenched deck and stroll around the Italian gardens. Breakfast served in the main house dining room, on the deck in summer or brought to your room - your choice!
Queen size bed (comfortable!) with quality linen and towels
Electric blanket and heated towel rail
We offer laundry & drying facilities at $4 per load.
Interaction with Guests
Guests can enjoy independent access to their room. We are "people-people" but recognise needs for your privacy if you wish. We may be out and about but will work around your requirements.
Tauranga is the main centre (pop.120,000) of the aptly named Bay of Plenty on the east coast of the North Island of New Zealand. We have an abundance of beautiful beaches, walks, cycle tracks and shopping. We are 10 minutes to the centre of Tauranga City and 6 minutes to Greerton shopping centre and 15 minutes to the airport.
Our home is located in "The Lakes", a recently developed area built around picturesque man made lakes and offers cycle and walking tracks - a mere 50m from our house.
The Lakes is 50 minutes by direct route to Rotorua, a geothermal region with an International Airport.
We are 15 mins to the beautiful McLaren Falls Park, 190 hectares of pastoral and horticultural parkland set alongside Lake McLaren. The park is popular for camping, fishing, kayaking, wedding photos, picnics, bush walks and summertime concerts. It is also home to one of the best botanical collections of trees in the North Island.
One of the highlights of the park is the Waterfall Track where you can see glow worms after dusk.
Where possible we can do a pick up and drop off for $10 each way to the Airport, town, Mount Maunganui or Bayfair Shopping Centre.
We have several off street parking spaces.
There is a public transport bus service from The Lakes to Tauranga City, but you do need your own transport for ease of travel.
No Smoking on the property thank you!
Extremely welcoming and accomadating host, the room was impeccable and very comfortable. We would definitely stay again.
We were made so welcome. Lovely couple, lovely guest room and gorgeous area.
Folder provided which showed local amenities, especially a list of local eateries which was most welcome. Denise even gave us her personal views on which ones were the best. We chose one and were very happy with our eating experience.
The next morning, for us, was the best of the stay. A really beautiful and plentiful breakfast served in Denise's patio overlooking her Italiate garden and then the view of hills and cattle. Cannot give enough praise to these lovely hosts. Would recommend this bnb to anyone.
Absolutely lovely place to stay. Very lovely hosts and so helpful. Two lovely host cats to.
A comfortable bed so important and it is a real queen size bed not a queen size mini bed like in other places. We want to recommend this Airb&b highly. Superb
We stayed for one night in this lovely place. I would definitely choose to stay there once more. Everything was perfect, clean and we got great tips for getting dinner late evening in the town.
Few things I want to point out:
- breakfast was great with Denise's self made muesli
- bed is super comfortable (the best in New Zealand)
- Denise & Mike are very supportive
Thank you Janis for your positive review of your experience. We certainly enjoyed
Having you both stay and especially being part of your Latvian Easter egg tradition. Your comments about the bed have improved my airbnb status!!
Appreciated. If you ever up this part of NZ again, please come and visit.
Warm wishes from Denise and Mike
We were warmly welcomed by Denise and Mike, and their very socialable cat, Basil. The bedroom and ensuite were beautifully clean and provided everything we needed, and more. Tea and coffee facilities were in the room and we were invited to sit in the sunshine on the deck. The room is very private and had it's own external access. As Peter had to leave early breakfast supplies were left in the fridge for him to self serve and I enjoyed a very healthy breakfast served in the sunshine.
Pyes Pa is a little distance from town so a vehicle is required. We would happily stay again and recommend others the opportunity to stay with friendly hosts, in a lovely environment.
Perfect. A beautiful house in a beautiful location with beautiful hosts. Denise provided an excellent breakfast on sun deck. Basil the cat was very affectionate.
Denise has now semi-retired after a long career in the recruitment industry where she co-owned an Auckland recruitment company for many years. She and her husband Mike (IT Engineer) share a passion for travel, entertaining friends, animals, gardening, cycling and love a nice meal washed down with a good white wine! They both enjoy movies and especially love French films. They don't let the grass grow under their feet and love to travel anywhere when they can. A cycling trip in Burgundy, France and a week in a villa in Tuscany is organised for 2015. Denise also plans to connect with her Yorkshire heritage in the UK. In her spare time Denise is a painter with a love of abstract and expressionism art. They have recently made their home in Tauranga and are enjoying the positive buzz and energy Tauranga offers along with a glorious sunny climate. They love the company of people with broad interests and would make your stay a positive and fun experience. Denise and Mike owned and managed 2 holiday houses for 10 years in Kerikeri and Matarangi whilst they juggled full time jobs so are an active and flexible team.
