This apartment is conveniently located near the #7 bus to Notre Dame's campus; it picks up in front of the Century Center and drops off in front of the Chase Building. The walk to Notre Dame is around 2 miles.
David's place is great! My boyfriend and I stay there when we had to make visits to the Notre Dame University. It's only few minutes drive from David's place and everything is convenient. We didn't have much time exploring the surrounding but we really liked how quiet the place is. I love would definitely stay there again next time we visit Notre Dame.
David was very accommodating regarding my reservation and questions about the space. This site best suits those with minimal travel requirements since it seemed to be an undergrad or graduate housing complex; it's perfect for the 20-something traveler. It's a no-frills location with a parking spot in the back; street parking has restrictions. Since the site is in downtown South Bend, it's within walking distance of several restaurants and bars. Commute to Notre Dame's campus was a roughly eight-minute drive on a non-football weekend.
David is polite, friendly, and responsive. He quickly responded to my questions and was flexible about my arrival and the exchange of keys. Overall, my stay was good. The apartment was no frills. All of the basic necessities were provided. For a short term stay it worked well.
David was great! He was waiting for me when I arrived at the apartment. Everything was clean and tidy. David was extremely user-friendly and accommodating. I definitely hope to stay at his place again next time I'm in town.
David sent me a welcoming text and came across very friendly. Once I got to the apt, it took a little time only because the building itself has no identifying street numbers. And I had a little trouble locating the key at first but once inside, all good.
Place is clean and perfect for crashing if you are looking for a little chill pad. Only negatives I would give is the shower set up is a little hard to get used to and the TV only has a few channels since it uses free tv digital, over the air. Oh yeah, and the bathroom door doesn't shut/lock properly. But these are all really small gripes and I went back home pretty satisfied.
As for the neighborhood, it seems safe enough from what I can tell but my buddy who lives in town informed me that I apparently was about 3 blocks where it "could get shady" and a mile from where it "definitely is shady". But I never noticed anything remotely suspicious or concerning outside myself.
For a student apartment, the space is very appealing and comfortable, and better than any of my student digs. The space is exactly as described. We felt safe in the building.
The neighborhood is directly adjacent to downtown, and not very busy at night--so it doesn't feel 100% safe. We walked over to an Irish pub and enjoyed to live music.
