The space
The Moondance: Joshua Tree is a private, modern bohemian retreat on 2.5 acres of desert land, nestled among Joshua trees, Cholla and Beavertail cacti, and creosotebush, just half a mile from the boundary of Joshua Tree National Park. Soak in the hot tub and enjoy 360 degree views of the region, from giant boulder-piled mountains to the South, the vast Mojave Desert to the North and East, and a stunning, unobstructed vista of San Gorgonio Mountain, the tallest mountain in Southern California, to the West.

The property is quiet and secluded, yet also conveniently located just a quick, 5 minute drive into Joshua Tree Village. The Moondance: Joshua Tree is a fully re-imagined original 1961 mid-century former horse ranch estate inspired by the natural landscape and music history of the region. Each detail of our home has been carefully curated fusing modern and vintage, minimalist and organic, and our design choices have been inspired by our passion for creating a space where our guests can experience ‘hygge’ in the high desert.

Our space aims to bring people together and provide solitude, to encourage indulgence and simplicity, to inspire creativity and provide rest.

The Moondance: Joshua Tree is the ideal venue for:
• Retreat hosts looking for a healing space
• Couples seeking desert solitude
• Friends determined to commune under star-filled desert night skies
• Families gathering for special reunions
• One-of-a-kind weddings
• Artists hoping to push through creative boundaries
• Companies wanting a group of employees to soar

◦ ABOUT THE OWNERS
We’re Grace, Zach, and Michelle. We’re family. We’re collaborators. We’re dreamers. We love the simple life. We live together in a family compound in the hippie enclave of Topanga in the Santa Monica Mountains where we live by the Danish concept of hygge.

Hygge (pronounced hoo-ga) means cozy contentment and well-being, or the art of creating intimacy in solitude, in togetherness, and in your environment. For us, hygge is embracing the simple things that bring joy to our lives, from the boisterous, like hosting gourmet family dinners at our compound or impromptu jam sessions and karaoke nights in our living room, to the quiet, like curling up in a favorite nook with a cup of coffee and a book or taking long walks in the mountains.

Our dream is to create spaces that help others find hygge in their lives, by finding joy in the present and well-being in balance. Our spaces aim to bring people together and provide solitude, to encourage indulgence and simplicity, to inspire creativity and provide rest.

Grace is a musician, a gourmet cook, a trekker, a film finance executive, has an eye for design and loves creating spaces that mix nordic design with one-of-a-kind, vintage touches.

Zach is a backpacker, a woodworker, an engineer, a real estate lawyer, sings like Marc Cohn and has a knack for building things with his hands.

Michelle is a social entrepreneur, a nature lover, a storyteller, a pianist, and an inspirer of dreams.

We hope we get to share our space and our hygge with you!
