The Space

Our lovely cottage is 350 years old, situated in a small hamlet in the middle of the the Yorkshire 3 Peaks. The cottage has been fully renovated and has 2 spare bedrooms, both with lovely oak beams, and separate bathroom. Please note that when more than 1 group has booked, you will share the bathroom. Guests are welcome to share the rest of the house with us: the large lounge, dining room and kitchen.

We have everything you need for a really comfortable stay. We have 2 open fires, wifi, ample parking, and are situated in an area with a huge variety of hiking/walking trails, caving, cycling etc. We are in very easy reach of the Lake District.

We are served with a good rail network and we are happy to pick guests up at local station (Horton in Ribblesdale).

Our house is approximately 2.5 miles from the nearest pub; for a small fee we offer a drop-off and pick-up service for guests who would like to have a meal/drink and would prefer not to drive.

This really is one of the most beautiful areas of the UK and is a haven for outdoors enthusiasts if you would like any help or have any questions about staying here, please just get in touch!

  • What a lovely host. I stayed here to walk the three peaks and in the morning I got well fed and a lift. Tempted to book another couple of nights for a weekend break.

  • Above & Beyond.

We were treated incredibly well. Bernie provided a lovely home-like environment for my fiance and me. Her husband David even picked us up from a venue when our taxi arrangements fell through.

    Good people - lovely stay

  • We had an excellent stay with Bernadette and David (3 nights). They live in a very beautiful spot and their cottage and the room we stayed in were comfortable and attractive. We loved our hikes, particularly the loop from the house (!) up Ingleborough and back down towards Horton in R. We had no car and Bernadette and David were very accommodating - they picked us up at the train station and took us to dinner places. (BTW we highly recommend the Old Hill Inn!) True to their reputation, they were very hospitable, preparing delicious breakfasts, explaining hikes and local customs, making the kitchen available to us to cook a meal, helping with laundry and even lending us rain pants for a rainy day hike!

  • David and Bernadette were very welcoming and met us with a nice pot of tea and biscuits. We felt like valued guests and were very helpful throughout, organising dinner reservations for us too. Comfortable and beautiful cottage in a pretty location.

  • The cottage was lovely. The room very cute. Bernadette and her husband were very hospitable, they even drove us round to a nice pub for dinner and to the train station in the morning. The area is absolutely gorgeous. Thanks for everything!

  • My partner and I had a lovely weekend stay with Bernadette and David at their fantastic old cottage in the heart of Yorkshire Dales. They (and there two friendly cats :-) ) made us immediately feel welcome into their home and were super helpful with information about walks and good places to feast on local food. The highlight of our trip was an amazing trek to the top of Ingleborough mountain for which we set of for on foot from the cottage following a scrumptious cooked breakfast with all the trimmings! The views of the valley and viaduct below on the way up the mountain were truly spectacular. We can’t wait to come back! All in all a perfect break away from the hustle and bustle of London.

  • I had the pleasure of staying at Bernie and Dave's beautiful cottage last weekend. My original plan was to do longer walks nearby but due to bad weather I decided to stay indoors most of the time. Bernie and Dave are wonderfully helpful hosts, flexible and understanding and they made me feel home! I was really happy to spend my time reading, sitting by the fire (let me add the hot water bottle was a star idea too!!!) with tea and biscuits and had a very relaxing time. The lovely room I stayed in was clean with a very comfortable bed so I slept much better than I usually do. Everything is as described on the accommodation's profile and even better when experience it in person. So, Bernie and Dave thank you once again for your lovely company and laughter, you really went beyond what I expected in the way you accommodated my stay and welcomed me in your home.

My husband David and I love the outdoors, and the Yorkshire Dales is a perfect place to explore one of the most beautiful parts of England. We enjoy hiking, good food, good company and the odd pint or two of great beer, and good wine. We are both very sociable and like to have guests fill the house. We have two cats, and so welcome pets to our home. We know what it's like to travel, and like to feel comfortable and at home, and would like to provide this feeling for others. Our favourite destinations so far have been Peru, USA & Canada, and we hope to visit Australia as soon as we can. David has started a project to build some stables in the barn behind our house, so that we can welcome visitors who might like to bring their horse on holiday, and explore the local bridal paths.
