About This Listing
Great for nature lovers, writers, meditators, bird watchers and bikers. Not suitable for events and loud drinking parties.
If three nights too long for you, one or two nights can be arranged.
This is one of the most beautiful places in the world—it is in the vortex of healing energy on the top of the world. There is an incredible panoramic view from every room in the house—and incredible sunsets. Nestled against the cliff, away from coastal fog, it is fabulous for bikers, hikers, photographers and birdwatchers.
Our mission is to make your stay as relaxing and enjoyable as a luxurious vacation.
From the heights of Gibraltar Road, this modern, newly-remodeled home comes with breathtaking views of the city and the sea beyond. Its sleek architecture combines the use of natural materials (cork floors, tinted windows and solar energy) with open, uncluttered interiors—creating a serene environment bathed in natural light.
The upstairs level welcomes you to the Great Living Room, where wood floors and glass-wall windows combine to create a warm glow throughout the entire home. The mood of the upstairs Living Room is set by the inviting Asian decor, with the ancient happy Hatai man and drums and gongs from all over the world. There is an antique, carved day bed to recline in—and enjoy the view and quiet for your soul and futon to seat or sleep for one or two person as well.
Another striking feature of this home is the sliding glass doors everywhere, which open completely to create a seamless flow from the living spaces out to the expansive, wrap-around decks.
Upstairs are two guest bedrooms and a full bathroom. Each bedroom has its own glass doors and views. One bedroom has a queen bed that sleeps two people, and another bedroom has two queen beds which each sleep two and a couch that opens in to bed for at least one more person. There is one day bed in the front sitting area upstairs, for a person up to 5'6" tall and futon can be open into the bed for one or two person.
Downstairs is the large kitchen. With honed black granite counters, stucco walls and black lacquer cabinets and stainless steel accents, your culinary choices are unlimited. You can enjoy meal preparation here, it is fully equipped with pots, pans, dishes, utensils, etc. Diners perched at the breakfast bar that seats two can watch the cook's efforts, or join in conversations in the adjacent Living Room. Or, more formally, a lovely illusion of indoor-outdoor dining is experienced at the table for six-eight, poised just before the glass doors.
Two bathrooms downstairs are newly remodeled and uniquely decorated. Here is the master bedroom, with unlimited views in front of the king size bed.
There is an outdoor pool (though not heated). A hot tub is heated however no jets/bubbles, and set by timer, for you to enjoy the quiet and the unlimited bird's-eye views, while soaking under the stars, moon or sun.
Whatever the reasons for your getaway, this Sanctuary Paradise is a blank canvas waiting for you to create the perfect retreat experience. Day and night, the ever-changing views and the essential serenity of this beautiful home will offer you unforgettable beauty and tranquility. Oh, and plan your days so you don't miss the sunsets.
Private pool and hot tub.

Fabulous for bikers, hikers, photographers, writers, mediators, birdwatchers and retreats. Not suitable for loud drinking parties. Here is the review of Brian Simuro, the writer for Trip Adviser:
"The house is amazing, the view is amazing and the owner Victoria is amazing! The booking procedure: Victoria responded immediately to every question I had. Victoria was kind and patient. Excellent communication! Checking in and finding the house: Victoria had given me great directions but my GPS was a little off. We could see the house on the side of the mountain as we were driving up but my GPS took us right by their subtle little driveway. I called Victoria and admitted I was lost. She was very understanding and patient and guided me in like a tenured air traffic controller. We took Victoria's advice and stopped for groceries on the way up. The sky was so clear and the view so addicting that none of us wanted to do anything but have a cocktail in the hot tub and just soak it all in. The view is that incredible! I instantly fell in love with the house as it is primarily decorated in a Thai motif. I just returned from a long visit to Thailand so I felt right at home."
"The house: The floor plan is like being in a modern, Thai, Winchester Mystery House. We loved it! The upper floor where the driveway [is] located has two bedrooms and a wonderful family room with traditional Thai decorating. There is an amazing deck and a very inviting hammock that is a must-try. The views from here are the best on the property as they sit above the power lines to the house. The lower floor is where the master bedroom can be found. Amazingly large space, with grand windows facing the ocean. There are sun shades you can lower if you like but if you do, why are you even staying here? Waking up to that view was energizing! A decent-sized eclectic bathroom with a nice comfortable bed. This floor also contains the spacious and more modern family room. Nice big tub and bathroom on this floor too. Big-screen TV with all the channels you could want. We brought a chef with us and the kitchen had everything we needed. Including views of the ocean!"
Taxi, limousine or private car.

Victoria was a very great host. She welcomed us very promptly. Gave us a great tour of the house and shower is all of the wonderful amenities. The view was spectacular. The house is very spacious. There was everything you would need. The drive is a bit far up the mountain, but totally worth it once you get there.
Victoria and Larry were great! Easy to communicate with and even let us know we were able to check into the house early.
The house was gorgeous with the most amazing views. Exactly what we were looking for in a relaxing weekend away.
Beautiful home. Two levels of outdoor decks plus the home with floor to ceiling windows (even in kitchen area) take full advantage of the expansive and spectacular views. Made for a great family vacation (5 in our party, kids were teenagers). There is not only enough space, but many different areas for the dynamics of a family. The entire group has room to hang together, or the kids can peel themselves out and do their own thing by the hot tub/pool, or somebody else curl up with a nice book in a nook with a view. Although the pool is not heated, the cover must do a nice job capturing the sun then keeping the water warm, since it was warm enough to jump in for us (early April). Victoria and Larry were great, and showed us around to get us set up when we arrived.
A group of us stayed at Victoria's for New Years Eve and we had a fantastic stay. The house and views are incredible and is truly a unique experience. Transportation to/from the house isn't the easiest/quickest, so just had to plan accordingly. Overall I would highly recommend staying here and Victoria was very responsive throughout our stay.
Larry & Victoria were wonderful hosts. They were very responsive to our every need and their house is incredible. The views were breathtaking. The house is a peaceful space with many great features, such as a well stocked kitchen, meditation area, and musical instruments. I would highly recommend their house.
Beautiful view and home. Victoria was very responsive and helpful. Great place to "retreat" but longish, confusing drive for much back and forth to Santa Barbara downtown or beach areas.
Hello Brett. Sorry you found the drive confusing. There is the map and directions provided by Airbnb. It has not been hardly confusing at all since the smart phones have pretty good navigation system and I am always happy to help with directions. The serenity and the view has its cost. Thank you for your feedback.
Great location. Spectacular ocean and mountain views! This home is spacious and beautifully decorated with Asian accents. The kitchen is well equipped. It was the perfect location for our large house party. Victoria is very responsive, helpful and accommodating. We had a wonderful time....would come back here at a moment's notice.
About the Host, Victoria&Larry
We are Victoria & Larry are in love with our house and it's unique location.
Larry is an inventor of Spare Air and Victoria is a Physical Therapist, local artist and the bread baker.
We are local Santa Barbarian and love our town. We'll help you to get the most out of your stay.
We enjoy our home. It located in the vortex of energy on the top of the Gibraltar mountain. The scenic mountain road with the breathtaking view takes you up into the nature where you are surrounded by foxes, hawks and night owls and you can observe them from the birds eye view like on the airplane but even better.
We love to seat in our hot tub and look at the stars before we go to bed. We go to sleep with the view of the city and the ocean in front of us. We like to rock in the hammock under the stars.
We love to walk on the nearest trail. We watch sunset from any room in the house.
We enjoy simple pleasures in life.
