The apartment was great - clean, spacious and very comfortable. The place was like Tarzan's hideaway, in a cool way. It was more off-the-beaten path than I had thought it would be, which is both a pro or con depending on what you like. Normally I don't like being in the middle of the tourist zone, but we felt a bit isolated here. Just a few blocks away, you are really in the local neighborhoods - very not touristy, and a little bit sketchy walking around there at night. Even with Jose's seemingly crystal clear directions, our shuttle bus driver had a very hard time finding the place and charged us extra once he did, which was a kind of lame start. Then a hostess showed us to our room, and while she seemed very nice and friendly, she did not speak any English, so she could not give us any advice or info on where we were, where to eat, how to get around, etc. I emailed Jose but never heard back. More frustration. I had the impression that this was right on the beach for some reason, but while it is right on the water, there is no real sea access or beach, and in fact this is immediately next to where the ferries come and go from, so you probably wouldn't want to swim there anyways. It's a bus or cab ride, or very long walk to get to the nearest beach. We thought we'd rent bikes or something to get around but never could figure that out.
Ultimately, the place was really nice, I just should have done some more research before I booked. And it would have been nice to get more response from the host, but again, I probably should have sorted all that out before I showed up.
Next time I'm going to Tulum!
Hi this is an nice place to stay also nice staff will recommend to anyons
That was just fantastic !
That's a spacious apartment and have a very nice decoration.
You can wake up see the sun rises on the sea with the cool breeze.
Casa American is very and people working there are very welcoming and friendly.
There is a small beach at 5 minutes walk where you can eat fresh fish just catcher by fisherman on the beach ! It's amazing !
Overall I highly recommend this apartment.
We stayed in the condo for 3 weeks, so we feel comfortable in expressing pros and cons. We stayed in unit #16
Pros: The basics are taken care of such as--cleanliness upon arrival, hot water for showers with good pressure, air conditioning working well. Condo is large enough for four and the view of the sea is beautiful. The staff is attentive and friendly, but the guest must have some basic Spanish as little English is spoken. This is only fair. Wifi works fine with minor blips in signal (website hidden) has a few English channels so you can usually watch something when it is necessary. The ferry to Isla Mujeres is next door and that island is where we spent all our time. It is fantastic. A restaurant nearby that we enjoyed is Mandinga--it's great, with pleasant owners.
Cons: The big drawback is location. You can't really go for a stroll at night because there are no destinations as the two nearby restaurants close at 7.There are no bars and the area is a bit sketchy. The advertised host,Jose Eduardo, is not there. We did not see him at all.We were locked out when we arrived even though I emailed Jose Eduardo the day before we left. I finally got in by seeing one of the tenants and he opened the door for me.
The bottom line: If you can find a similar place on Isla Mujeres it is best to go there. You will spend all your time there anyway as it has everything a vacationer can ask for.
El alojamiento no es como muestran las fotos.
Estaba sucio y su ubicacion solo es conveniente si se ha de visitar isla mujeres ya que esta cerca puerto juarez.
Me ha decepcionado.
We enjoyed our 3 night stay in Cancun at Jose's Oceanview Penthouse by the Sea. We stayed in Villa #15, which was a bit disappointing, as it was NOT one of the Penthouse villas listed/pictured on the listing. You should speciafically ask for villa #16 or #17 when making your reservation as they are the ones pictured, and much nicer!!! The building is in a neighbourhood literally next door to the ferry terminal, so the beach & water is not very nice for swimming. It's quite far from the Hotel Zone & beautiful beaches of Cancun, but we had a car, so were able to easily drive there & enjoy! The building is rustic with Mexican decor which we liked, the pool & grounds are very lush & green & nice. The apt itself is very basic, but we asked for the missing coffee machine, more bath towels, & beach towels, and promptly received everything we needed. There were no hangers in the closets which was a little annoying. The staff was very helpful & friendly. We also made the trip to Isla Muejeres, which was quick & easy and fun! Overall it was good experience.

I´m a Cancun fan that wants to share this beautiful paradise with people all over the world.
I love Music, I love to sing, play the guitar and invite my friends to sing along with me. Im a fresh food fan and I think I know the best restaurants in Cancun, and they´re not necessarily the expensive ones.
I´m a proud Mexican and I love Mexico´s History.
I deeply respect and enjoy nature and animals.
I would like my guests to think of me as an easygoing, down to earth, Bohemian kind of guy.
I don´t really have a life motto in particular but if I had one it would be something like: Share Love and respect everyone.
