About this listing
Situated in a gorgeous loft space with fab view, your 1BR with private bath, comfortably fits two and is located between the hip neighborhood of Pilsen and UIC. Enjoy the comforts of home and the convenience of access to the best THE CITY offers!
Private bedroom and private bathroom in secure converted concrete loft building, on the railroad tracks that separate University Village (Univ. Illinois, Chicago) and the hip, diverse colorful neighborhood of Pilsen. Loft is on the 10th floor so the view of the city is quite remarkable. The guest room is an internal room within the loft, but the walls do not go all the way up. There is light, but no windows. The room is very private. Basically, you have 1/2 of the flat to yourself. I have an adorable well-behaved dog.
Pilsen boasts some cutting edge galleries, boutiques, artist studios and wonderful restaurants, cafes, vintage stores, bookstores and more. You will also find some of the best tamales in Chicago from the street vendors on Saturdays.
Two blocks in the other direction is Little Italy. The classic Italian neighborhood. Excellent restaurants abound there as well. Francescas, D'Vanti, Chez Joel...on and on!! !
PARKING- there is plenty of free street parking. No permit is needed.
Towels and sheets are provided.
Basic Cable TV, Apple TV with Netflix, Showtime, HBO.
There is a gym on the 2nd floor that you have access to.
Washer/Dryer in unit
I am happy to direct you to points of interest and the best way to get from one place to another. Getting around Chicago is rather easy CTA. There is a DIVVY bike station less than a block away. These stations are all over the city and are a perfect way to take short trips from one destination to the next. Go to DIVVY BIKES CHICAGO to learn how it works.
The loft is close to downtown via the #60 bus and Pink line (15-20min) or via numerous busses.
I do have a sweet dog named Leonard...HE loves everything.
No smoking permitted in the loft.
Kitchen, to store food or cook if you like.

Interaction with guests
I interact with guests as much or little as they like. I am happy to give you pointers on when're to go and how to get there, but I also very much respect your privacy. If you need anything, from directions to extra pillows, please just ask me.
I love and value the diversity of my neighborhood. I am surrounded by so many delicious restaurants and colorful sites to see. There are artists everywhere and the University of Illinois and UIC Medical Center are walking distance. I am very close to downtown, you can see the Willis (Sears) Tower from my window, and can walk to the LOOP, Little Italy, through Pilsen or to the lake. in the warmer months. Downtown is a 15 min. bus ride (which you catch across the street) if walking isn't your thing. There are movie theaters and shopping centers less than a mile away.
Public transport via 60 bus, across street Pink Line, 5 min. walk
DIVY bike stand 1 block away
Taxis and cars for hire, I can hook you up.
PARKING: ** Do not park under viaducts anywhere in Chicago. It's a homeland security issue and you will be ticketed, $75. Around my building, you can park anywhere on the STREET for free, except under viaducts. The parking garage is for people who own a parking space, (I don't happen to be one of them!) So please don't park there.

Though I recently completed my 50th lifetime move, I have decided to put down a root by purchasing a condo in Chicago. I am an artist. I call myself a painter even though I hardly use paint anymore. The condo is where i live and I have a studio close by, so no paint fumes in case you are wondering.
I love to travel for exhibitions, residencies and just for fun of course. Most of the time you will find me in my studio, but when I need a break I take or teach dance classes, do bikram yoga, read, listen to the great music Chicago has to offer and watch movies ( usually foreign or independent). J'adore French cinema. I value friends and love to get together for good food or a glass of wine. I am very easy going, friendly and respectful of others space.
