About This Listing
Situated in a gorgeous loft space with fab view, your 1BR with private bath, comfortably fits two and is located between the hip neighborhood of Pilsen and UIC. Enjoy the comforts of home and the convenience of access to the best THE CITY offers!
Private bedroom and private bathroom in secure converted concrete loft building, on the railroad tracks that separate University Village (Univ. Illinois, Chicago) and the hip, diverse colorful neighborhood of Pilsen. Loft is on the 10th floor so the view of the city is quite remarkable. The guest room is an internal room within the loft, but the walls do not go all the way up. There is light, but no windows. The room is very private. Basically, you have 1/2 of the flat to yourself. Guests are free to adjust the temperature as needed. I have a dog and a cat, but they are not allowed in the room and are extremely well-behaved.
Pilsen boasts some cutting edge galleries, boutiques, artist studios and wonderful restaurants such as Nightwood, Des Colores and Mundial Cocina Mestiza. You will also find some of the best tamales in Chicago from the street vendors on Saturdays.
Two blocks in the other direction is Little Italy. The classic Italian neighborhood. Excellent restaurants abound there as well. Francescas, D'Vanti, Chez Joel...on and on!!
• Though the bed is a futon it is REALLY comfortable. I slept on it for two years!
Oh..did I mention the view and the proximity to downtown!! On the 4th of July we could see fireworks from Navy Pier to Sox Park!!
PARKING- there is plenty of free street parking. No permit is needed.
Towels and sheets are provided.
Basic Cable TV, TV is small.
There is a gym on the 2nd floor that you have access to.
I am happy to direct you to points of interest and the best way to get from one place to another. Getting around Chicago is rather easy. There is a DIVVY bike station less than a block away. These stations are all over the city and are a perfect way to take short trips from one destination to the next. Go to DIVVY BIKES CHICAGO to learn how it works.
The loft is close to downtown via the #60 bus and Pink line (15-20min) or via numerous busses.
I do have a sweet dog named Perssi...She loves people. And, Max the cat who is more like a dog than a cat. Very social.
No smoking permitted in the loft.

Laundry in flat.
Gym on 2nd floor of building.
Wifi and Cable TV

I interact with guests as much or little as they like. I am happy to give you pointers on when're to go and how to get there, but I also very much respect your privacy. If you need anything, from directions to extra pillows, please just ask me.
I love and value the diversity of my neighborhood. I am surrounded by so many delicious restaurants and colorful sites to see. There are artists everywhere and the University of Illinois and UIC Medical Center are walking distance. I am very close to downtown, you can see the Willis (Sears) Tower from my window, and can walk to the LOOP, Little Italy, through Pilsen or to the lake. in the warmer months. Downtown is a 15 min. bus ride (which you catch across the street) if walking isn't your thing. There are movie theaters and shopping centers less than a mile away.
Public transport via 60 bus, across street Pink Line, 5 min. walk
DIVY bike stand 1 block away
Taxis and cars for hire, I can hook you up.
PARKING: ** Do not park under viaducts anywhere in Chicago. It a a homeland security issue and you will be ticketed, $75. Around my building, you can park anywhere on the STREET for free, except under viaducts. The parking garage is for people who own a parking space, (I don't happen to be one of them!) So please don't park there.
No Smoking in the Loft
Use of Kitchen is permitted if you clean up after yourself.
Must be respectful of space and others living there.
An affection towards animals is probably a necessity!
Smiles are welcome!
We had agreed from start that Connie would not be present during my stay. Keys were handeld by family.
Connie stayed in touch during my stay to ensure things were ok.
Connies has a nice condo relatively close to downtown Chicago with restaurants in close proximity. The guest room and bath are very clean and the bed is comfy.
I felt very welcome at Connie's. Her cat and dog are totally sweet and I think they liked me as well :-)
I absolutely can recommend Connies place for checking out Chicago!
The house is amazing, super artistic and clean. The cat Max is cute. Connie told me and my friend the transportation information patiently and she was really friendly:)
Connie was very nice host for me and my girlfriend. We haven´t seen each other that much because we only stayed at her apartment for 2 days.
Everything´s like you see it on the pictures and how it is described. And the view from her apartment at the skyline of Chicago is really amazing.
Thank you for this nice stay!
About the Host, Connie
Though I recently completed my 50th lifetime move, I have decided to put down a root by purchasing a condo in Chicago. I am an artist. I call myself a painter even though I hardly use paint anymore. The condo is where i live and I have a studio close by, so no paint fumes in case you are wondering.
I love to travel for exhibitions, residencies and just for fun of course. Most of the time you will find me in my studio, but when I need a break I take or teach dance classes, do bikram yoga, read, listen to the great music Chicago has to offer and watch movies ( usually foreign or independent). J'adore French cinema. I value friends and love to get together for good food or a glass of wine. I am very easy going, friendly and respectful of others space.
